    Are they yellowy?

It’s unlikely that you’ll get any live beardy babies without being able to prep the nesting site to keep conditions good for natural incubation.

nothing I can say to lighten anyone’s moods here without coming across over positive and a touch soppy.

But so share my lifes woes..

I had to wear a suit and spend the day at Epsom races, Derby day in a hospitality marquee watching spoilt rich kids and wealthy business people cheer for a horse to be whipped for 3 mins…

And next week I have two days in Peckham….

Good to see ya up there matey.

The hills are looking prime for assault without the extra load and slicks.

Have had a few front end moments over the last few days as the inner loon in me has pushed it into a few loose corners in places.

Almost ready now I think to reclaim those hills.

    What a great Day.

Families out sunning themselves on the field section.
Spectators ringing cow bells, blowing hooters, yelling support and picking up fallen riders, etc.

Sun was out for the best part of the day, but it as chilly in the woods up on the top section.

Conditions on the ground were good, though some of the corners were getting blown out where it was just dry soil.

Fantastic to see a mix of riders from the juvies, right up to the pro riders on our back yard.

For anyone wanting to have a go down this track, have a look on the triscombe uplift page on FB and book a day there..

I’m almost done putting up 40 images from today, so Buzz, you can have a gander. Tomorrow i’ll be back to bug hunting.. 😉

    Crikey.

The short answer is NOT at all.
Long complicated story there and one i’m not prepared to talk about on an open forum.

Of course this will open up a debate with many questions, as is only natural given the amount of fantastic parents amongst you’ll all.

But right now, my focus is on doing whatever it takes to keep me away from those dark times, ones that could easily return if i let certain thoughts, scenarios be apart of my life.

You say i’m out and about a fair bit, what makes you think that?
All i see and experience is all out there in the narrow margins left for nature to survive in.
I choose to be away from general people for most of my days, choosing instead to spend time with those that understand me, relate with me, that don’t judge.

I’ve barely ridden my bike in 4 months, but average over 10miles most days walking, exploring new local places, woods, fields, streams, finding new to me plants, flowers, insects, birds.

All of which i try and photograph, then take back with me and when i can, research, id and learn them all.

For why you may ask..Because i want to know more and why and where…

Ask what you like about the places i see and what i see, i’m happy to try and enthuse more people about the little things out there, but please don’t try and get me to explain why my life cannot include my children, be a touch sensitive like.

    Shane.

I hope the cold snap hasn’t killed much off up there. In fact on Weds i’m heading up into the NW somewhere so if i get time outdoors, there better be some bugs for me to photograph.

Been finding alot of there around recently, stunning things don’t you think.

And these though they don’t fancy settling on a flower for me yet..

Huxtable has been heard to say(my own ears) it’s not about the money and that it is about the money.

So it’s pretty certain it really is about doing whatever they want.

The Quantock land is classed as a minor asset, which means it’s ok for ONE person to decide on it’s future.

Mark, put me on as an emergency standby as i’m busy surveying the site as the weather allows.

Qwerty. They do make a din, though unsure if they compete with hedgehogs for noises love making..;)

Rusty mac, Maybe, i take alot of images on most days and could probably put something wild on here daily. I have however, held back over the past several months as i feel sometimes i get repetitive.
I did pop up few images of a water vole the other week, so keep ya eyes peeled.

I got a nice Nomada pic today but with around 850 species of them, i can’t yet be specific on with one it was. And i finally grabbed the orange tip image i’ve been after moments before.

    Everyone else, ta muchly.

Another thing that has come to light is the private sale of public land at 8 acres to a local farmer.

There appeared to be no public consultation on this.

The site is the scrub land along cockercombe road, left of the road from triscombe cp to the farm track to quantocks farm. This had been lined up to become a nature reserve..The farmer will be digging out the scrub there to make room for more grazing.

They also own cothelstone hill and although at this stage they claim to not be selling it, they did say, ” we plan to sell all our rural land, managing land is not our core business…”

It’s also come out that they tried to sell lydeard hill car park, which they don’t even own! LOL

I see no bad change in terms of mtb access for the duration of FC ownership.

Infact, theres now better chance that the DH area can get properly developed and utilised. Also there is a better possibility of trails being built for other cyclists similar to that at haldon.

    Maybe!

As for the other bits, well..we will see but the fight will go on.

I was at the press release and SCC really are being protective of the information they give out, despite the freedom of information act.

We were assured all access will remain as it is and whilst the FC own it I believe it will be. Though nothings guaranteed..

Will, its a thing I’ve pondered over and designed in theory many concepts in ladder stabilization and have discovered there is nothing that can do it better than common sense.

A few sand bags at the base and a tying eye used well is pretty much the best other than a second person footing the ladder.

A general rule of 3 contact points is, I’d think a better way to ensure less ladder accidents.

If anything though, an inbuilt level to ensure best angle of ladder use and adjustable feet.
Wrong angle and unstable ladders are a bigger cause of falls I’d think than the base kicking out.

Some people will always choose to not have a second man and as one design could I think, not suit all working conditions, it would always ve limited.

I’ll do your questionarie later when I’m on a pc.

Like your thought, I just think Darwin needs to do its thing and educate…

Thanks for the kind comments and your input. Some really interesting stories there.

Here in Taunton there’s an old water tower, i went in there the other day to have a look at the old pump and see what state the old building is in, as it’s full of character and such a shame to be neglected like it has been for 20+ years. In one of the rooms there was a bed crudely laid out, several teddies and an organised selection of medical/toiletries next to it. In a corner as a pile of unused sanitary towels. It was clear several people stayed hear, above this room pigeons cooed as their excrement dropped through the rotten floor boards..

I thank my friends and my wit to keep me from such places, i also thank the natural world and the great British countryside, for it provides me with the clarity needed, in which to put up with the occasional attempt to make me conform.

Might choose to stay in this tree one night soon, looks like fun. 😉

    And a Blog? Yeah perhaps i should…….
