I’m still annoyed that I missed the x5 trail fatty when it was £999 rather than £1199. Someone in the OO office had forgotten to add the Fat Bike premium.

I really like my On One Parkwood 29er. You can get a frame and transfer most of the Scott bits over. It’s a trail HT unlike the Scott so not stretched out and a higher front end. Surprisingly nimble too. Dare I say it on here, but I wouldn’t go back to 26 now.

Have you tried rotating the bars back to shorten the reach? This did the trick for my daughter at 3.5. Though she is average size.

Is it still available after Tesco ditched Hudl? I had the update offered a few months ago and decided to wait, but now when I check for updates it’s not there.

I’m still using Squirt dry wax lube and getting surprisingly good results in the wet for a couple of hours of so. Makes cleaning up much quicker too. Rinse, dry, reapply. None of that gunky grime that needs a degreaser to shift it. This has been a revelation to me for winter riding.

If anyone’s looking for small frames, this 13″ cube looks like a good option to build up

Lagos in the Algarve? The town itself is not that special but it has the necessary amusements to keep teens happy, plus lots of accommodation and it’s 30-40 minutes drive to some amazing surfing beaches on the west coast, plus some good sized hills to the north. Mountain Bike Adventure[/url] do uplift and bike hire.
Lagos is 45 minutes drive from Faro airport.

There’s quite a few of these kid’s fatties on the market. Surely the extra weight is going to make these more of a novelty bike for all but the strongest 6/7/8 year olds? Anyone have any experience of younger kids actually riding these bikes for longer than 10 minutes?

^^^mrmo and I have disagreed on here a few times about Cleeve in the winter :-) Leckhampton is MUCH better draining overall than Cleeve and gives year round riding. The Cleeve fun bits are terrible in the winter, unless you stick to the XC on Cleeve common itself, which is a bit dull.

There’s a lot of good tips in the thread you started a few months ago. One of those guys maybe able to show you around. I’m out of action for the next couple of weeks, but I can point you in the right direction if someone else hasn’t by then.

I’ve an Asgard with a Double Doofer ground anchor and BIG chain. Way more secure than a wooden shed (but no shed is impenetrable). Asgard is top quality and well put together. No problems with condensation. Has the added advantage of acting like a loud drum when opening it, so attacking with a grinder is going to attract attention.

I’m a bit sceptical of the ‘reality’ element of this show. I watched the first one and some of the scenes seemed very scripted with poor acting!

I’m just about to swap the rear from a Spesh Slaughter to a Purgatory Grid. I’ve not tried it before, but from what I read it seems to be able to cope well with mud. When it gets axle deep I’m back onto my HT with On-One’s finest Smorgasbord & Chunky Monkey which worked well last winter (this is proper Cotswold mud I refer to)

£30 e-voucher for £24.69. I had to add a High 5 gel to get it over £30 for the code to work.

Depends which bit of the city you’re staying/working in, but IMHO Leckhampton is your best bet for a regular after work off road blast if you’re on the West side (Longlevens), but it’s worth driving over to maximise the fun as I’ve never been able to successfully find an off road route to link the city to Cheltenham.
The route above from mrmo, is good but more xc whereas Leckhampton and Cranham are a bit more trail.
I’ll show you round Lecky of you like.

I’ve just got my second wobbly Continental Trail King (FKA Rubber Queen). This tyre was a warranty replacement for the first one. Like the OP, the rim is straight and the tyre bead is sitting evenly. Seems like they haven’t solved the manufacturing issue.

Eat_more_cheese – 9 days in a 40 footer? That’s going some. I take it that was in a racing multihull rather than a cruiser? I did it in 14 in a Whitbread 60, but we had mostly light winds and no main for 2 days after we ripped it.

I claimed for 3 bikes nicked from my shed with AA and all went smoothly. The policy is underwritten by AXA, so they dealt with all the claim. I was passed off to Wheelies to value the bikes, who were a bit tight on the like-for-like brand matches, but by me escalating back to AXA I got a fair cash payout.

Loving my Parkwood. I’m 6ft and went large and glad I did. It looks quite big, but when riding is amazingly stable on fast descents and surprisingly chuckable.
PS there are a few other threads about sizing.

+1 for Asgard shed, but as ^^^above it’s not bullet proof. See it as the 1st line of defence and then fit a ground anchor and serious chain and padlock like this. The weak link then becomes the bike frame itself as they’ll cut it to sell on the components.

No higher rate taxpayers should be getting Child Benefit.
I think what irks the OP is the unfair way it is implemented.
Take a set of neighbours, both with the 2 kids. Once pair earn £49,999 each. In the other pair, one earns £60K and the other stays at home looking after the kids. The first family earn almost £100K and get £1800 child benefit. The second family don’t get any.
Taking it away from both families would be much fairer.

Gloucestershire’s a big county. Care to narrow it down a bit? The riding is quite varied depending on where you are: Fod, Leckhampton & Cleeve, Cranham, Stroud valleys, Cotswolds etc.
Mud plays a big factor this time of year (stay out of Cranham). The all weather armoured routes in the FoD are always good in the winter.

    1. Find someone to share a locker with for your personal kit
    2. Ask for a Kingston type locking cable and leave it on a desk at night. The cables are next to useless in preventing theft but it does show you tried.

I don’t have one yet, but I’d suggest you are a small.

This thread offers a bit of help
    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/on-one-parkwood-sizing-query

And this on the On-One site
    http://www.on-one.co.uk/help/what-size-bike

I’m looking at getting one but I’m right at the boundary of Medium and Large.
That link above would suggest a Medium, but I called On-One and they said Large! Can any owners give me better advice?

BTW, they also said the frames are delayed, so more like mid Feb than 31st Jan as it says on their website.

Nobeer can you please post what you think about the Spectral 29er one you’ve ridden it. There lots on here (and on the net) about the 650b Spectral but not the 29er. Cheers.

Cusco in Peru would be good. You could fly into Lima then fly to Cusco quite simply with a bike. Lots of historic sights to see amongst the mountains. I didn’t find anything particularly technical, but it’s probably there as there were lots of trails (many created by the Incas). There’s MTB guides in Cusco to help you get to the best bits.

How about thinking about where your graduates go on to work and contacting some alumni? Comparing against a random commercial organisation won’t mean much.
