This is by far the worst Sick post on STW so far, zero drama, boring!

Plant based burgers or rape & murder meat burgers?

Yes there is a Vegetarian if you prefer to rape & murder vegetables and beans.
Also a Gluten free option. I think you have to RSVP so they know what to cater for.

What time are the rides due to end?

    About 8.30 I think. I think there will be 2 rides that go out Slower/Shorter & Longer/Faster.

Jackpot 27.5″ Mountain Bike – Orange

That’s a lot of bike for the money and its what I would go for at that price range.

My Diablo & SixPack combo is amazing. Apart from cost they are the best on the market.

In my experience when companies do go pop the last thing anyone worries about it taking down the website.

It’s the first thing I would do so no one bought anything online that I couldn’t provide.

Would be good if the BEMBA site could also be updated to give some information on the series as it is only currently available on regurgitated press releases.

Great shout, I will get that done.

An even longer drive for me so I definitely won’t be doing it. Exciting to have a brand new venue for the series though.

Maybe for distance but not time. M25 is not the one.

So, I’ve signed up for all of the BEMBA races so far, except the No Fuss one. I’m hoping that will be announced soon though. No one has heard any more Info about this?

They are annoying today apparently. I can confirm is a really cool venue that wasn’t used by UKGE or BES. I can also confirm is a really long drive for me (if I go).

If you are on the uplift you can do all the blue and reds at least once.

I can see the EWS ignoring the past years and use 2019 as a fresh start/hard-line from now on. It is a business after all not a governing body.

Yeah understand that, but even one or two in october would of helped.

Anyway, good luck to people who try to get places.

That’s not really possible, BEMBA (The enduro organisers) run a shared calendar this is added to by all the organisers to avoid clashes. One of the thing to determines this is the EWS dates and now the BENS. These dates aren’t locked until the start of Oct then we all start to talk and swap dates where necessary.

That’s why you will see most organisers announcing their date in Nov.

It’d be interesting to hear from any of the organisers who sometimes pop in here.

From Southern Enduro’s point of view.

The Series: on December 1st we release 100 tickets for the full series with as small discount. If riders don’t have the have the cash on the 1s Dec we release 150 more tickets 2 mouths before each race.

The QECP Mash Enduro is 2 months before the race.

The QECP Day and Night Enduro is 2 mouths before the race.

So as a general rule we go for 2 mouths before race as typically that’s when we have to start paying deposits and booking stuff.

The exception to that is the Southern Enduro Champs where we release the tickets 6 months before the race (on 1st Dec) This is because its a much bigger event and have to book and pay deposits much earlier.

I might give one of them a go as they are nice and local. And the last 3 don’t clash with anything.

blackmountainsrider For reference, I personally like seeding run too but all the other rounds won’t have seeding and I thought continuity was important so we dropped it from the Southern enduro champs.

    scottfitz

No seeding runs but it will be seeded from root and rain data. We are working closed with Seb From Roots and rain for Results, Series points, Stats and Seeding data.

Some good work has been done to make the sport more inclusive in the past couple of years, this article is about women but I think it applies to u18s and beginners too.

Women-only enduros are making racing female-friendly, but why’s it taken so long?

Start from the race village at 10. You need to collect your timing chip 9 till 10. You just ride around as many times as you like, stages in any order, ride stages a minimum of two times.

    @El Vino

Any helmet is fine but for your first race stick the chin bar on for a bit of extra confidence.

Gloves, knee pads, elbow pads and glasses is what I would wear. I have goggles and very rarely race in them.

The stages will all be from the top, well top of the Fireroad.

Stages will be available for walking in the morning before practice.

No map but the race is in the headdown woodland not the main country park.

This year was the least amount of gravity racing I have done since 2011. A high light was definitely going to Greece for a round of the Greek National Enduro Series. https://www.instagram.com/p/BjSaiSAhje0/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1cffle9qmevb7

Hopefully I will get to a couple more race in 2019.

If all goes to plan Southern Enduro should have some new venues and projects in 2019 too.

I’ve got a couple of races left this year, one DH race (my only one this season, which isn’t good, need a local series again!)

    Rogate??

That’s a good idea. Quite like the idea of splitting them up by region too to see if there is anything interesting going on there.

If you need help with that let me know.

    scottfitz

INteresting to see how low the to date numbers for both DH and Enduro are. There’s not much left this year to offer a big boost I would think, so expect a dip for 2018. I blame brexit, obviously.

They were about mouth ago, just after the Ard’rock I think (Sorry should of said that) enduro should hit 19000 riders this year if my calculations are right.

To your point @perpetualdisappointment you haven’t factored in the growth of R&R. Since you start your data the number of races listed on R&R has grown alot. You’d find that there was alot of grass roots stuff back in 2011 that never made it there I suspect. If you look at the growth of event listings from 2010 > 2013 you see a reasonable growth in DH events, but I don’t believe that 2013 was a golden year, I think its the awareness of the R&R site that drives the listings.

So if thats true, then seeing a small decline in total listings from 2011 > now probably indicates a bigger decline in real terms in both rider and racer numbers.

Also I think your total DH & Enduro participants numbers might be wrong as you have less for both in 2011 than just DH unless I am reading it wrong.

Don’t forget kids, there’s Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics.

This is true also it was originally set up just for DH (Seb is from a DH background) Enduro was tagged on in 2012 ish then all then new organisers jumped straight on it and by 2014 all enduro races were on there.

DH was a bit more sporadic getting all the events on R&R but by 2016 ish most/all DH races were on there.

An interest comparison would of been partition in grassroots vs regional vs national vs festival type events in both DH and Enduro. It’s not super easy to split them but it could be a good look at what type of event.
