Any comments and tips will be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Tip is simple, don’t bother with Schwalbe tyres, for this reason.
They have always been the same, every time I have been given a set to try, the same thing happens. It’s frustrating, because I rate the MM as a tyre.
Having seen the BEMBA venues the only extra race I’ll be doing of those is the Dyfi round, not going to be driving to Scotland 3 times to race.
If the plans come together, hopefully it will be 10-12 races next year. Bit better than the 6 I managed for this one!
Tried most, always back to Stans.
Muc off is absolutely useless. I’ve never seen to many failed to seal punctures which are easy to spot as it spurts glittery blue sealant everywhere.
Closely followed by Peaty’s, which is almost as useless.
I don’t care if Stans is more expensive, it works.
Fox Flexair trousers for me. Never really wore anything since the old TLD Moto days when racing DH, they gave me an aversion to trousers for a long time.
But these are amazing, they are slim fitting, so probably won’t work for the more tubby rider, not 100% waterproof, as they are stretchy as hell, but are DWR. The now do the ranger trousers w…[Read more]
Will probably end up doing the Southerns again, although I did only do two this year.
I’ll end up picking and choosing other events, which will probably be some of the BEMBA’s, some of the WES at the better venues, etc. Basically I’m not really committing to any full series, as it’s so venue specific 🙂
Hopefully I will get out to a couple…[Read more]
Also not a fan of the feel with them. The better ones, once you run a tyre with half decent sidewall becomes as heavy as a DH tyre.
If people are apparently running 40psi and still denting rims and puncturing DH tyres, they probably need to learn to pick better lines. The fastest line isn’t the fastest, if you wreck your bike on it.
I just a…[Read more]
What race were you? – I was in V50 and we may have been side by side in that shitshow of a first half mile (nobody’s fault but walking those wide-open corners was a disappointment)
I’m in the V40’s. but it was still a mess, I got stuck on the inside which was annoying.
Raced again this weekend, Wessex again at Southampton which was my local o…[Read more]
I have a Mont Blanc slim thing, it doesn’t carry coins, or have a notes section, unless I fold it them in half and stick them in the pocket behind the cards. It only takes 4 cards, which is fine, because I got so fed up with a wallet that was thick with crap I never used, or needed I went drastic and cut right down. It’s coming up to 12 years old…[Read more]
Did Wessex yesterday, given the amount of rain it was surprisingly dry. Lots of greasy corners, fun little wood section & a couple of soft grassy uphill slogs, but I enjoyed it, in a type 2 kind of way.
Just outside the top half, which for my second race I was pleased with, given the standard & pace of the league. I think if I wasn’t on the b…[Read more]
Even if it worked properly I’d never use it as I don’t understand how people think the shifters are ok? Compared to Shimano the upshift button just seems completely misplaced and hard to reach.
Nope, quite the opposite in fact. Having been on SRAM probably for 6 years through 11 speed and 12, I’ve gone to Shimano mech and shifter on Sram casse…[Read more]
Wild Enduro Magi x front is superb as a front tyre ridiculous grip on every surface.
Wild Enduro rear tough but not so grippy in some conditions.
The tread has lasted ages but the tyre has perished and has a split in it. Even with the outer case split it stayed inflated.
Tubeless fluid sleeps out side walls.
No idea why anyone would think…
No issue with GX Eagle. Not quite as crisp as X01/XX1 but then I don’t expect it to be.
I wrecked an X01 mech recently and have an XTR shifter and mech to try. I feel that coupled with an XX1 cassette is probably the best option, no interest in Shimano cassettes as they are heavier, need a new free hub and can pretty much guarantee they won’t las…[Read more]
