I looked at replacing my prophet about 18 months ago but couldn’t fine anything liked better. Rode bikes from, Scott, Spesh, Cube & Cannondale. I ended up just upgrading the prophet now I love riding it even more.

Fitting a heavy duty shock mount to the lower eyelet helps. TF Tuned sell them.

shock bushings, My CP is 5 years old and have never done the main pivot bearing but have done the rear shock bushing 3 time and the front once. So my guess would be rear shock bushing. You should be able to see or feel it when lifting the bike like you said.

Ok So I done it and it works great. Did full suss first, Its now:
    34t Raceface narrow-wide on front
every think else is full SLX 10spd with the 11-36t cassette.

First ride was muddy, with some XC and some local DH, chain didn’t miss a beat.

wow, not good. Hope the organisers of the MTB side didn’t spend to much time and money on it.

They don’t say nothing about MTBs either, though.

Yeah I can find load of write ups about the motorbike side of it but not the mtb.

Seems odd it was plugged before hand on a copule of sites, Pinkbike, ride.io, enduro-mtb.com etc….

How short…and is it still longer than JLC’s johnson?

60mm and I’m not qualified to answer that 🙂

I think the standard stem was 80mm

P.S my dad has the same bike age & colour. He loves it. He has fitted a shorter stem and upgraded the wheel.

Is using a water bottle whilst wearing one out of the question?

If stopped you can just tilt the FF Helmet up and us a water bottle

How do you use a Camelbak with one on the go?

again just put it under the bottom.

Both not as easy if you have a neck brace on.

Deeps gullies on the tracks, filled with loose rocks, where the rain has washed away the sand/soil.

It does that every time it rains hard but the trail crew there have been working hard by the looks of it.

    or enter some local races,

This and in practice watch other riders, ask for tips on bits you are struggling with. Most local race are super friendly and really good fun. If you in the south I might even see you there 🙂

No the race scene in the south has never looked so busy.
Loads of venues new and old, of the top of my head this year.

    Tavi woods
    Gawton
    FoD
    Gravity Project venue 1
    Gravity Project venue 1
    QECP
    PORC
    Bull track
    Combe Syd
    Tidworth
    Rogate
    Uk bike park
    Aston hill

That’s 13 venue with 40 plus races and that’s just in the south. Southern Downhill is very much still alive!!

QECP is just too hilly at the moment, all those up hill switch backs and tree roots would kill me.
I love this Quote john, QECP’s new tag line maybe 🙂

Funtington/Kingley Vale has great riding and is not far from you. I went there a lot there in the summer but haven’t been since the weather turned so don’t know what it’s like in the wet.

soil type like QECP but gets less traffic so holds up a bit better.

Was the cockpit set up differently, Wider bars/shorter stem etc.. this would make the like fell test bike fell more stable.

damage they have caused in the past, in the disturbance of the habitat and wildlife of the area.

Clearing scrub, creating path and disturbing soil is great for lots of species, including endanger species.

If you already have 9 speed SRAM shifters and plan to use a 10 speed Shimano mech then you can still keep your shifters by adding a spacer.Lots of info on other threads to show how it’s done. This is what I’ll do when I change from 1×9 to 1×10 to keep costs down.

I have shimano 9spd on both bike unfortunately.
