What to practice more? Qualifying track or race track?

You’ll be able to ride both and make your mind up.

More likely to be sections of each that you want to practice.

Maybe practice sliding down the snow with your bike on your lap.
I was thinking more along the lines of tactics to qualify high for the main race. There don’t look like many overtaking spots after the first section. Or an I thinking to much in to it, Turn Up, Race, Have fun etc….

My favourite quote of the year, random I know but I thought I would share.

“Bikes ride the way they do because of their geometry. It’s got **** all to do with wheel size or over priced carbon composite marketing bullshit.”
    Quote from here

Sometimes you’ll never know why it’s wrong

    Yep that the issue.

Have also had a gen. 1 (4130)(?) and a gen. 2 (520) both which were 130mm spec. for forks and ran both at 140mm.

Interesting is a 17″ frame and 725 tubing. The floats where 150mm and I have spaced them to 130mm, could try 140mm.

Friday 13th. What tyres and head angle you got?
    Awe you’ll die anyway

As I’m going to die anyway I might give a go a dying on my Hardtail.

Don’t hit them with a rock – a shiny pebble is the tool of choice for freeing up pedals.

But it needs to be damp!

Will we now see a flurry of attempts at the “QE Beginners Trail – Killer Climb” segment before it gets replaced? Looks like I’m 3rd of 14 for the QE Collective – which just goes to show that most of them haven’t had a go at it yet.

I’m not on that list!! but I have ridden up there on a giant glory before What a Knob

Excellent and is that the climb UP from there to the right?

    Yep

Didn’t there used to be an unofficial path that came out round there?

Yes but we didn’t use any of it.

Or do you come down there and turn right to back into the park

    Don’t know where you mean.

Is there a map so I can work out where its running?

I’m clearly more optimistic than Scott. I agree about phase 3 though, we want to get it right rather than rush it.

we won’t have the funds for phase 3 till at least Sept 2014 unless anyone knows any active or bike brands that want to get involved in sponsoring a Blue decent. If you do point them our way please. It has the potential to be epic!!

When does the blue officially open? (“When we’ve finished it”!)

This is the first section of the project and will be a full surfaced blues level climb to remove the muddy crappy climb that is there at the moment.

April/May 2014 but I recon it might be a bit sooner if we stay on track with the current progress.

Section 2 of the project will see some blue new single track on top of the hill.

    Sept/Oct 2014

Section 3 of the project will see a 100% new flowy fun blue decent. Packed full of berm.

Depends on how much money we raise to fund it, I would prefer to spend more time and money on this bit rather than rush it. So lets say 2015 ish.

he hated the old “family trail”.

    Everyone did!!

1×10 is fantastic but for the occasional 6hr, 40mile epic in the lakes a 22t may come in handy and it’s easy to install/remove.

Would/does the chain stay on a standard 22t granny ring with a clutch mech? Has anyone tried?

Start them off on a Hardtail to learn the basics

Edit: Riley Jenners 24″ wheel DH HT is for sale, not sure how much it is but search BTR abrications on Facebook. I saw it posted on there a couple of days ago. Here some pics of Riley on the bike:
