I have always liked the look of the 44mm log cabins on the tiger sheds site.
At worst it would give you an idea on prices.

Yup, buy just the h cup

    Yes that one
    Yes Sealed bearings
CRC don’t sell them as they have the Nuke Proof ones
    Bargain forks then.
No it is B or H for 44mm head tubes, B is essentially the same as what will be in your bike now. Down the line you could get a reducer crown race to run the 1 1/8 forks with the H cup.

Yup Hope H cup is exactly like that cane creek one.

See the hope document in the link below

Easygirl it was suggested by wolfenstein that the head tube was a semi intigrated head tube on his bike. That should make it 44mm. That is why I was suggesting the hope H cup.

As you correctly point out if the head tube is regular 1 1/8 the the 1.5 lower will not fit.

    Are you a tart?
That’s about the only reason to match them with exactly the same hub rim combo!

As long as you don’t do anything daft like put a 2.5inch tyre on something like a Mavic XC717 and expect it to perform like a ex723 you will be fine

If the head tube is semi intigrated / zero stack / 44mm inner diameter you can buy a new external lower cup, nuke proof do them but don’t sell individually. Hope sell individual cups and it would be their H cup you would need

Only thing you can do is call round other insurers and see if they accept it. May work our more expensive this year but be worth it in the long run.

Hope External cup headset for 44mm head tube is the “H” cup, this normally comes with a 1.5 crown race so you may also need to order a 1.5 -> 11/8 reducer crown race but you will be set if you ever change your forks for tapered ones.

    Terry,

I have a Mk1 or Mk2 diablo that she can borrow for the puffer if that is any use?

[edit] Exposure mount is 23mm diamiter, most of the DX ebay jobs are 25mm and a very very tight fit as they use removable batteries[/edit]

[edit2] that one in the pic looks a good option [/edit2]

    Brodie,
I will try and find out, I think they want us to use Kwik-Fit as they offer the tyre hotel service so we are not responcible for storage of our summer tyres.
Other guys I have spoken to have had good experiances with other branches slightly further afield so i will be going elsewhere next time.

On phone to lease company as i type.

Completed a customer comments form stating un satisfactory service. Will hope the lease company can sort it out without involving insurance.

Naming and shaming time I’m afraid. They are not willing to admit anything. No CCTV footage in the garage or on the car park and they can’t think how this would have happened. Area manager is not willing to fix it as I can’t be proved to have happened there.

Kwik-Fit Aberdeen 226 South Market Street, avoid if at all possible. Our company has previous with this branch I have since heard, they managed to shear off 2 out of 4 of my colleges locking wheel nuts when they went to go and change tyres on his car and also accepted no liability for this too. With the company we lease through anything tyre related gets put to Kwik-Fit so it was them and that branch that put the wheel nuts on the last time.

Any one have an email address for their head office?

Would the waranty not be 1 year with the retailer then 4 years with the manufacturer?

Have you read this on the mtbr forum?

Not had the problem my self but well aware it is a common failure point.

The company did go bust a few years ago now (shortly after they went bust CRC had some bikes at less than half price) but at that point it was know that there was no spares. They basically used as much of the parts as they could to build up full bikes fo sale to pay off some off the debt.

There was someone on here last week with another mkIII that had gone.

A company came in and bought the Iron Horse after a year or so of nothingness for the name but i don’t think they have any of the old designs.

In addition to AlexSimon’s links you should check out the Luminous lighs site.

    http://www.luminouslights.co.uk/index.html

Luminous does both battery inside lights and external battery units.

Point it a board with tin foil on it?

Look into a home brew 12V solar powered system with old car/truck battery and 12V LED down lighters.

I had excellent service from securityforbikes, they do free shipping on orders over £150, i was also thinking postage would be a killer but for my order it was only £7 or so.

What druidh said. The company car insurer should be able to issue a letter to say that you had no claims on their insurance from period x-y but you will need to get a letter from your current insurer to detail you no claims to date x.

I don’t think you can protect your current NCD this way though i’ll happily be proved wrong on that one.

Depends on what part of the car the axle stands are supporting as to how stable it will be but it sounds like he has done a reasonable job if he has thought about mounting them on ply rather than just the tarmac. It is certainly a lot safer on axle stands than it being on scissor jacks.

If you are seriously concerned then go round and have a chat with the guy, explain your concerns and ask if he thinks it would be beneficial to lift the side that is lower up to make it level.

If you ask him in a friendly way he may be able to demonstrate to you how stable it is to relieve your fears and explain what he is doing.

Apologies for the slow reply. Just back from being bumped again from my offshore trip.

Lease is through leasehire, from other guys at work I have heard they are quite strict on the condition the car is returned in.

Just called the garage back and the branch manager is consulting his area manager so at the moment things seem to be moving in a sensible direction.

The car they originally suspected turned out to be the wrong colour so I don’t know where it will go from here.

Lease car but i am lead to believe i am responsible for any damage out with general wear and tear. I would think this would fall out with the general wear and tear.

No dent doesn’t go outwards (doesn’t look like something has hit it from inside the wheel arch) but the scuff marks that accompany the dent appear to go from the back towards the front (OSF wing towards and onto the back edge of the front bumper).

It definitely was not me, if it was my fault i’d be hacked off and kicking myself but the way it has been bashed looks like it is from back to front as if something has been dropped against it or hit it.

Do you know if there is anything i can get the branch manager to do that would help with the head office payout? Log the complaint or acknowledge the bash?
I wouldn’t like to get someone in trouble for something that is not their fault but i don’t want to have to fork out for it to be repaired myself when the car goes back in January.

    brodie,

That is good to know. I’ll take that option if i don’t hear anything back from the branch manager.

Yup as per Northwind I have RF Atlas cranks on my bikes one with a CK BB and one with a Hope BB. I did particularly well out of my first RF BB getting 2.5 almost 3 years but the second i got less than 6 months.

    RustyMac

Northwind It would be nice if that is the case but i don’t know how these things work. I am a bit of a luddite at the best of times but when it comes to car insurance and what happens when something goes wrong even more so.

It is part of a chain, that all our fleet cars go to. Garage manager is waiting on the suspect vehicle returning for further work scheduled tomorrow so hopefully it is that car and i can all be sorted.

Anyone know if these sorts of places have CCTV and if so can anyone ask to view the footage?

Last thing i need right now is a bill for car repairs when it was not my fault and increased insurance premiums will be a real PITA.

I have used the Park ones for years now, the only time they have not lasted was on a snakebite puncture, held for about a week and a half then began to pass. To be honest the tube was done. Conveniently i get a box of patches every year on a recurring event near the end of December.

Just read your reply and have realised I have linked to the wrong genesis. I was trying to link to the latitude 00. This is hopefully better for your budget and may make more sense with a possible fork upgrade.

If it was me looking I would be strongly considering this genesis with a possible fork upgrade from merlin

depends on what you are wanting to use the fork for? and on what bike?

You could always go down the road of getting some coil sektors upgraded with Rev dual flow and rct3 damping.
