I’m lucky to have a number of traffic free Sustrans cycle paths close by, the nearest being about 100 metres away, I am glad to see so many families out riding and happy to see a future generation of MTB’rs taking their first tentative riding steps (pedal strokes) Once you realise they have so much to concentrate on controlling their bike that guessing the speed of other oncoming riders is going to be suspect, then everything is fine.

TVR Speed 12 on a trailer heading North on the M40 doing about 50 on the inside lane, MASSIVE queue of cars slowly passing it, drivers all drooling away.

Again northbound on the M40 just before the Warwick services just as you come over the crest of a hill a car stopped diagonally in the middle lane with a bloke with his head back either ill or fast asleep, middle of morning rush hour cars going in all directions to avoid it.

My original 2005 one started freezing playing Forza 3, so I opened it up and took the heatsink off and the thermal compound must have been applied by a luntatic using a footwide paintbrush, way too much of if and mostly in the wrong places. Cleaned it all off using some ArtiClean thermal compound remover/purifier and put some Artic MX-2 thermal compound on instead. Also changed the fans for some quieter but higher flow ones too, end of problem.

Could always run the PC off a Linux Live CD/USB for a few days and see if it dies then or not, also means you’ll usually have the boot option to run Memtest86 too.

No problems using ATI cards on Linux, got a 6950 on my desktop and a 4250 on my laptop both using Ubuntu and the AMD drivers. See here for all the options on the various permutations of drivers available http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Main_Page and how to install/update them.

More RAM does help if you are running a VM or two, but it’s worth checking if your CPU supports hardware virtualisation (VT-X on Intel) as some guests might not work without it, not all Intel CPU’s come with it.

We have people comparing one minister of state with a another minister of state, one of which was responsible for 60 million plus dead. In such a state where the one with the higher disregard for life won a do you think we would have chance to even think such a thought never mind post it up in public to be recorded for ever?

a single person hand making them one in a bunker, 100’s of feet from the next person doesn’t lend itself to economies of scale.

No p*ssing about when it comes to energy, nuke power station at the bottom of the street, object to it, doubt it because by now they will have bred objectors out of the population. Anyone raising an objection will find themselves acting as a national socialist party freedom fighter in some as yet unconverted part of the world.

Use a different headset, you can get headsets where the lower cup is longer to usually allow extra clearance for when fork controls can come in contact with the frame. Some options are discussed in this thread >>

I too had a ride around all the new bits today, new Red was quite a surprise well worth doing. I can see the new Black catching people out at speed the stone isn’t too bad on the tabletops but now and then its set to give you an extra bit of lift/kick that could catch you out if your speed is wrong.

Yes its possible, new motion control knob kit (knob, o ring and screw) and unhooking the spring inside the motion control unit. See this thread complete with the awesome PeterPoddy guide

I did have an issue a while back where Spotlight was constantly re-indexing and taking up 100% of one CPU. In Activity Monitor MDS/MDworker was running wild. Spotlight uses plugins to recognise various formats and it turned out to be the Microsoft Office.mdimporter plugin that was causing the problem on my Macbook, I removed it from the relevant Library sub directory and end of problem.

Macbook from mid 2007 2.16 dual core CPU, original hard disc OS never re-installed (10.6.8) 2 Gig of RAM, only maintenance has been to run Onyx now and then. Just ran Geekbench for the first time ever got a score of 2764 with a pile of apps open in the background. Maybe there’s a clue to the location of the issue with the summary of the score?

    Mine was:
    Integer 2171
    Floating Point 4124
    Memory 1998
    Stream 1618

717’s are a narrow-ish rim, a big tyre at a low pressure will either roll off the rim or pinch flat all the time. Mavic only recommend up to a 2.1 on them so don’t go mad with a too large tyre on them.

RS Dual air forks are well known for having recommended air pressures that are fictional. Put in what you need, try about around 2/3rds. For example I’m 16 & 1/2 stone and I run mine at 110psi.
