thank you all for your comments,
hadn’t really considered the weight thing, so that’s a really good tip.
fortunately living in the South it’s pretty flat with few hills, and will mainly be used around the local park and roads.
the longer strap is a good idea as well, push run catch up etc.
Tracking will be fairly critical, but i assume easy to sort with some form of screws in r=the wheel slot.
    Thank you for the tips,

also 3:17 for a marathon with a buggy ……… :o, only 22mins quicker than my best marathon time without one ……

Four4th are amazing lights, have the Scorch, as a helmet light.
Really well made and Dell is great to deal with.
    Highly recommend them.

    Will check the radars out.

I use the mowa c clips, they are the aluminium ones, they can chip the paint on the framewhen you put them on, but never had one snap,
    Last for ages.
Buy them off ebay for less than a fiver.

Hi, I ran some Hutchison fusion 3’s on a set of ultegra wheels for about 2000km, they were nice and smooth, could run the 25’s at 90psi amd they rolled really well.
Didn’t try any others as there was very little choice 2 years ago.
There were two downsides to them.
One. They were an absolute nightmare to get on the rim, very, very tight, however l, once on. They went up even easier than mtb tyres.
two. They appeared to cut up quite quickly, but it was more cosmetic than anything, they lasted pretty well.
Tried the atom as well, but didn’t get on with it, was pretty scary in the wet, fast in the dry though.

All in prefer tubeless on the roadbike now and won’t be going back.
As ever caveated with ymmv of course.

For that sort of money a Hamilton would be a good bet,
Some of the khaki or jazzmaster series with an automatic movement and/or a chronograph function are that sort of price range.
Solid watch in that price bracket.

    Few links

Or if you want to go down the more expensive watches then you could always buy a pre-owned one, plenty of good jewellery stores will have traded watches.

ordered some last year, in s/m and in l/xl
    I am 6ft, 33in waist
the s/m were tiny. could literally just get them on and they felt like they would rip.
l/xl were a perfect fit and are extremely comfortable.
the pad is extremely good, not as good as assos or really high end stuff, but it’s more than good enough for long days, the knitted construction is really comfortable compared to lycra and they wear extremely well.
really pleased, have bib, 3/4s and longs.

at £45 (inc. postage) , i would say they are a real good buy. ymmv of course.

    As an alternative,
I have been using a Four4th Scorch for the last year or so, brilliant all in one helmet light, green LEDs give a nice light that’s not too taxing on the eyes, helmet or bar mount.

    Four4th Scorch Light[/url]

Works really well with a bright bar light or on it’s own in not too tight woods.
It’s about the same price as a Diablo at £135.
Cracking light and a really nice company to deal with.

hopefully better for next week, although i shudder to think what may happen, based on bad things happenning in threes.

i have just bought a set of rockshox yari for this purpose, 29, 120mm accept 650b+ as well, they are available as normal and boost versions i believe.
the damper is the motion control, rather than the charger damper, but does not seem much different from my pike, it does feel slightly stiffer though.
i’ll feed back when i have had more time on it.

    richen987

    yes should be there

I just got some Yari’s from Evans for £440 but had a 10% discount through work, so 400, cheapest I could find was 396 from bike discount in Germany.
I bought them as the pikes were a lot of money in comparison, and I wanted a set in 120mm without having to “fork” (I’ll get my coat) out for a new airshaft on a new pair or a second hand pair with airshaft came in at about 400.
They look pretty beefy and cycle through nicely, looking forward to popping them on the bike and giving them a go.
I have pikes on the fs so be interesting to see how they compare.

I have done a January single with a few friends, we did Winchester to Eastbourne, it was extremely cold but dry day. Took us 14 hours,
The Winchester end to QE was really muddy, buy once part there we were ok for the rest of the way as it was frozen.
I would recommend really good lights with a spare battery, really warm clothes, possibly a change if you stop at lunch.
Also a couple of the water taps were frozen, so you may want to think about alternative water points.
But it was a really fun day and a cracking ride.
Not sure I would want to do a double in Jan though. But if you do, good luck am sure it will be rewarding

You could try slowly submerging them in a bucket of water, would soon identify where they are leaking, allowing you to focus on that area. To see if they are fixable.

ta, works out at £6 if you just order the light.
give one a go for that on the commuter.

if I could justify the spend for a bike I would only use occasionally,
then a handmade Demon ti 29er would be top of the list,
so many nice details and options.
plus he is local to me.
