The funniest dog chase I’ve ever seen was when we were on holiday in Corfu.
We’d hired some bikes, and went for a pootle along the coast which involved a very steep climb up a hill to take in the view.
A few photos taken and we begin heading back so start freewheeling back down the hill, past a couple of houses we’d passed earlier with my bro in law Terry leading, suddenly out of one of the gates comes a dog barking and snapping at Terry’s heels. Terry then breaks into a full race sprint while at the same time trying to kick the dog away, the problem was Tez was still in the highest gear he had from the climb, his legs were going like the clappers but he wasn’t getting anywhere
Anyhow they both disappeared round a really sharp hairpin bend with me shouting after him to watch the hedge as I thought there’d be no way he could make the turn, next thing we know is the dog is trotting back round the corner with a mahoosive bone in its mouth! He trotted back to his house totally ignoring the rest of us to finish off Terry’s leg in comfort.

We turned the corner expecting to find Terry embedded in the hedge missing a limb, but as it turned out he was fine, in fact quite pleased that a least a couple of kicks had found their target, we still have no idea where that bone came from though!
Still makes me laugh 14 years later!

Main reason would be security. The lock throw is hidden by the rebate so is harder to cut or pry open.

Following on from a similar thread I started here,
    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/reccomend-me-a-g-shock-watch
I tried on quite a few, but tbh any of the smaller G Shocks tended to look like a womans watch, (even the missus thought so) I plumped for this, not exactly a small watch but I dont think it looks out of place on my skinny wrists.

My missus wrote off my much beloved pug 306 just by trying to clean it while I was at work.
She tried to pull in the drive where my van is normally parked so she could hoover it out, caught the gate post and then proceeded to cave in the side trying to manoeuvre back away from it. Apparently, at one point she was on two wheels wedged on the post, the wheelspin marks on the drive kind of confirmed this!

I remember leaving a grifter tyre mark across the forehead of my mate when I didn’t quite clear the 5 kids who were lying down on the floor after the ramp we’d built.

The torque is 51IN/lbs not 51ft and it’s not as tight as you’d think!
( assuming of course your tightening up the nuts on the bottom of the fork legs)

Very sad news, condolences to his family and friends

Didn’t know him, but judging from the photos it certainly looks like he lived life to the full.

Can you not get a filler panel (or 2, 1 above, 1 below) that matches the kitchen units instead, that is how the gaps are normally covered.

Had a set from him recently and 1 of the bearings felt very gritty once fitted.
Emailed him and despite his theory that it was me that had ruined the bearing in fitting it, ( it wasn’t!) he sent out replacement bearings straight away.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again.

It’s reading posts like these that puts life into perspective.

If I’ve had a rough day at work or something’s not quite gone to plan, I’ll occasionally have a moan to the missus about never having any good luck, blah, blah, blah.

The fact is, I’ve got 3 wonderful healthy kids who have never really given me any health concerns. Granted 2 of them had to have assisted births but that was it. As I said, the OP and some of the others that followed makes me appreciate just how lucky I am.

Great news on the improvements with Eben’s condition btw, this time next year you’ll probably be praying for him to sit quietly and give you 5 minutes peace! :D

Just about to cut some MDF up myself so I checked the model number of the Skill saw I linked to against mine,
It turns out it’s the same one, with the exception mines 110v and is called an Orca. (Mine cost around £70)
As I said I have had mine for 10+ years now and with a few blade changes along the way it’s still going strong, that’s after some proper abuse thrown in as well. As for the accuracy never noticed a problem with it unless I put a real cheap blade in, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another

    Always used spec savers Wolverhampton.

No complaints from me and all the staff seem very proffesional.

2 sets of designer glasses less than £ 160 and also a letter sent to my GP to arrange a more in depth Glaucoma test at hospital. ( failed the same test last time, :( )

I’m a chippy by trade and I’ve been using a skil saw for years, week in week out with not a hint of trouble.
Just searched for it and came up with this, not exactly the same but looks very similar with same sort of spec.

    http://www.powertoolworld.co.uk/skil-5866mb-circular-saw-190mm.html

Seems an unbelievable price so it would make me question whether it’s right though?

I’ve got the same boiler as the OP and Ive brought it back from the brink many times over the last few years, mainly due to it scaling up on the hot water side of things, it gets so bad you only get a dribble of cold water coming from the hot taps. Always seems to happen in winter and as our shower runs from the boiler it’s a right Pita.

On the plus side I reckon I can strip it down descale it, and have it back up and running in around 4 hours flat now I’ve had that much practice! I’ve now fitted a scale inhibitor on the mains and things seem slightly better. We still get lime scale coming through the taps but it doesn’t seem to be sticking so much ( see this in the kettle also)

As for the problems with the automatic air vent I’ve changed mine twice now and it’s really simple job to do, last time I brought one I think it cost about £11.

Another vote for the Reverb here too, mine has also been faultless.
I had to shorten the hose on mine and there was no need to bleed it afterwards either.

Spent Christmas Day with the wife’s entire family (16 of us) at a fishery near Bridgenorth.
It started with a treasure hunt for the kids In the woods before dinner and then everyone sat in the cafe attached to the fishery for Dinner, first time I’ve ever eaten Christmas dinner in my wellies!
There wasn’t a cross word between anyone, and all had a great day.

Off to my sisters now for round two!

Cannock is my local trail centre and I don’t do too bad, if strava is anything to go by( I know, I know!) I reckon I’m in the top 35% ish!

Anyhow, the only time I’ve really crashed was coming down upper cliff ( the last decent on the monkey)
And this was due to the trail being really dry and dusty and I washed out on a corner.
I don’t think I’ve ever crashed on the pebbles, IMO the trick with those is to run your pressures a lot lower than you normally would elsewhere, fwiw I run mine around 23 psi but then again I’m only 10 st.

I personally like the tight lines through the trees makes things a bit more interesting, I’m sure I’ve still got some bark wedged behind my brake levers from one close encounter!

Driving past a pub that had some large caged extractor fans or something sticking out of the wall,

“Ooh, look that’s a good idea”

    “What is?” Says I

“That they’ve sunk the tv’s into the wall so they look like flat screens from inside”

“What!!??” Lol, “what do you think would happen when it rains if they really were the backs of tv’s sticking outside!?”

    “Oh yeah”

Still wear a denture plate to this day to replace my missing front tooth when I slipped with a 36mm podger.
I was 30 odd foot up in the air in a cherry picker at the time and remember spitting out bits of tooth like they do in the cartoons, came a bit sharp I can tell you!

Many years ago I used to drive the van for a small building firm.

One day after work I was dropping one of the lads off at his house, and while he was unloading his tools I was looking backwards into the van making sure he had everything, and that the back doors were shut. All this while the engine was still running.

Cue me driving off and hearing a horrible crunching sound. It turned out whilst I had been looking backwards that the paper boy had dropped his bike right at the front of the van, so close in fact, it was impossible to see from the drivers position and it was now wedged underneath.

I took the lad home and explained everything to his parents telling them I was sure the gaffer would sort it through the insurance or something. As it turned out the boss tried to get me to pay for it which I flatly refused, as, as far as I was concerned I was covered by the van insurance.

To cut a long story short, the company was taken to small claims court where we lost ( still don’t think it was my fault, but hey ho!) anyhow we were ordered to pay for the bike plus charges.

The gaffer wouldn’t talk to me for about 2 months after that relaying instructions to me via the other lads, even though half the time I would be standing 2′ from him

You have to loosen the swingarm pivot bolt bolt as well, in my case I also had to drop the chain rings out of the way also to allow access to the bolt.

I get a MALWARE WARNING from Google when trying to access that page. Watch out

It would seem that no issues are detected when using Internet explorer but when I viewed it with Google chrome, Mcafee seemed to think it was a dangerous site??

Anyhow here’s a different link to the same item which to my untrained IT skills seems Ok.
