A Six Moons Lunar Solo. It’s over your budget so have a look round for a used one. You’ll need to budget for a pole and pegs as well.

Assuming you’re buying something to wear, for £6.5k I’d recommend going into a jewellers and trying stuff on. That way you’ll get something that looks and feels right on you wrist and you’re happy with. If you don’t find something you like in the first shop move on to the second one.

Enfield Lock brings back memories, I did my apprenticeship at the RSAF, I’m a bit further out at Bishop’s Stortford now. The bridleways out here are thick mud/clay, the geared bikes are away for the winter and it’s singlespeed time.

How about heading up towards Crews Hill and taking the track under the M25 to Goffs Oak. Through Wormely Woods down to the old Ermine Street track and through to Hertford Heath. A bit more road through to Ware, there’s loads of bridleways out the back of Ware to put a loop in then home via the river from Roydon. Depends how far you want to go.

Bing maps has an OS layer which is handy for general route planning, or if you’ve a GPS get someone to make a route for you (or do it yourself).

Install the Alexa app on your phone and connect to the Echo device in question. Change the wake from Alexa to something else. You have a fully functioning device that won’t answer to Alexa.

I’ve just fitted a new oven this afternoon, swapped out a built under single for a bigger double. Despite my best efforts at measuring I had to remove the kick board from the bottom and drop the carcass to get it in. I’m just about to measure the kick board got a cutout so I can put it back. What should have been a 20 minute job has turned into the entire afternoon.

I had a chat about this with my sister recently. She reckons going to 4 days isn’t worth it, you’ll end up getting through the same amount of stuff you did when full time. To get any benefit from going part time it’s 3 days a week for men and two days a week for women. She’s a senior civil servant in the DoWP, this was based on stats she has access to and her own experience of part time working whilst recovering for cancer.

I was listening to this being discussed on Jeremy Vine yesterday. One of the people he had on the phone was head of road policing in Scotland. He said the figures used for the report stopped at 2016, so didn’t include anything from 2017 or this year. He also said that 2017 and this year’s figures showed an significant decrease in drink driving related incidents.

From experience (I’ve had the pleasure of living next door to drug dealers) if you don’t want to move then wait until the house is empty and set light to it. Not a little bit alight that’s easily fixed, do a proper job.

I spent 3 months touring the Divide route (with a lot of detours) last year. I loved the small towns, they all seem to have a brewery. The scenery varies enormously, mountains, deserts, forests with bears (yes I did meet one), coyotes, moose and shit load of smaller stuff you don’t see here. I added Arizona onto the end of the trip, the Grand Canyon is worth the journey on it own. The bits of Route 66 I saw from the falling down derelict bits in New Mexico to the regenerated stuff in Arizona is something I’d like to see more of. I’d like to ride more of the deserts in the western states (I’ve got that trip planned for 2020). The people are brilliant, they’re interested in what you’re doing and make the time to chat, much more than you’d get from anyone in this country.

To try and simplify things a bit:

Data gets to your device in two ways, via WiFi or via your mobile connection. The Wfi connection will override the mobile connection unless you’ve monkey’d with the settings on you phone. The mobile connection will use your mobile data allowance, the WiFi will use that data allowance (sorry if that’s a bit obvious).

Your mobile contract will have a couple of different bit, calls, texts and data. Calls and texts (SMS) use the phone signal, all other apps will use the data connection.

As mentioned a few times above, make use of the offline feature of Google Maps while connected to WiFi then use it when on the road.

Just to add to the Google search suggestion, use the “site” function after your search term.

Example: if you want to search for 29er wheels:

A neighbour is a 12 month ban for speeding on the M25, all done with points totting up. Every offence was committed over a 10 day period in variable speed limits. Also, there’s a new type of camera, the Hadecs 3, which is mounted off to the side of the variable speed gantries, it’s small and difficult to spot.

There seems to be a lot of people who didn’t read the original question properly. He’ll take the pups if at least one is a boy, the shopkeepers wife says that one of them is. The chances of the other being male is 50:50.

    Don’t buy the Nokia.

I’ve got a Nokia 8 and it repeatedly drops it’s wifi connection. I don’t get a mobile signal at home so rely on things like WhatsApp for messages and voice calls. Look at the phone and it’s got the connection icon at the top so all appears well. At some random time it will re-connect, it’s not unusual for messages and missed call notification to appear several hours late. This appears to be a problem across a range of Nokia phones, not just the 8, Nokia have no interest in fixing the issue. Apart from that it’s great.

Wifey has a Moto G6 which has been OK except the volume button has broken. The phone lives in a protective case, the issue seems to be with build quality. I had intended buying one to replace the Nokia but now won’t.

I did it in London for 5 years late 80’s/early 90’s. It’s changed a lot with people from Eastern Europe working for a lot less money so riders earn a lot less now. I was reasonably fit when I started, it took me around 6 months to get fit enough to work 10-12 hours a day with a 10 mile commute at each end of that. I went to a fixed wheel quite quickly, there were only two other riders in London using them at the time, riding all day eats gears. With a fixed running a front brake only I could get 12 months out of a front rim and drive train. People don’t like working in the winter, wet winter days are where I made most money. Be prepared to sit around earning nothing, there were days when I earned £5, days when I earned £200, over a year it was OK money. I only had 2 big crashes which resulted in hospital visits and 2 saddle sores (again hospital trips to get them drained). Looking back I enjoyed it, I wouldn’t do it again and wouldn’t recommend it as long term career.

Make sure your bank knows you’ll be transferring money onto the card. I tested mine thoroughly in the UK and Ireland only to RBS flag it as a fraudulent transaction when I was in Montana. As mentioned one or two backup cards are essential.

My mate gets a few in the back of his truck, he drives an F150 double cab with an 8 foot truck bed and some sort of Truckman like cover. I realise this is no help at all, if you want bikes in the back of a commercial vehicle with a bit of security buy a van.

I’m 55 and took redundancy in May last year, did a few things I wanted to do then was in the pub one lunchtime earlier in the year and one of the local gardeners was moaning he had so much work he was having to ditch clients. Since then I work for him, a small bit for someone else and have got a few of my own clients too. Money wise it’s £10 an hour if I work for someone else, £15 if it’s one of my clients. I must be doing something right as I keep getting asked back. Depending on the weather I’m earning around £1500 a month, most of it in cash although I’m keeping accounts just in case. My commute has gone from a minimum of an hour each way to 10 minutes at the most, all the jobs I’ve got lined up for this week are within a 2 minute walk.

There is shed loads of work out there, people can’t get anyone to do anything. If you want to do a bit of garden maintenance there’s loads of work, painting and decorating, handyman. Be sensible with your prices, do a good job and don’t take the piss and you’ll get asked back and referrals. If I fancy an afternoon off to go riding that’s what I do.

I had some carpets fitted a couple of months ago, a bloke in his 30’s. He works four days a week and plays golf on his day off. Another bloke who was made redundant same time as me did his bicycle mechanics qualification and works part time in a shop, he also did a hedge laying course and does a bit of that as well. There is so much out there which doesn’t involve office work and someone breathing down your neck all day.

I bought mine last year for the Divide, definitely much faster than people using Sawyers, I’ve used it extensively in this country too, it does what it says. I’m just back from 2 weeks in Canada and used it there to filter water for 4 people, they had Sawyers and have now bought Trailshots.

However, if you’re trying to filter water from something like a tap in India then Sawyer is the way to go. If you’re a Camelbak user another option could be to fit an in line filter and fill the bladder with dirty water.

Whatever you get LEARN HOW TO CLEAN IT IN THE FIELD.

Packed my job in at 25 and did the usual year in Oz and buggering about in Asia. Took redundancy last year at 54, toured the Great Divide route and am going back to the US next week for a different 2800 mile off road route. I’ll be back around the end of October and really need to find a job.

I’ve got a Nokia 8 and agree it’s not particularly good. I bought wifey a Moto G6 in the Amazon prime deals a couple of weeks ago for £200. It’s a great piece of kit.

My favourite are wide fit Specialized but good luck finding them, I got mine in the US. I’ve tried Lake, Giro, Sidi etc none fit. The only other shoe I’ve tried and bought which are good as my Specialized are standard, off the shelf Fizik.

I’ve used clipless pedals since they were invented, on the road since the early 80’s and off road since SPD’s first appeared in the early 90’s. This year I’ve a good reason for using flats, despite a couple of thousand miles I still twist my foot off a flat pedal.

I think the answer is, you get used to it.

Wifey bought a Moto 6 on the Amazon prime day this week for £199, seems like a nice phone. I’ve got a Nokia 8 and it keeps dropping wifi connections BING, pick up the connection BING, drop the connection BING and so on. Seems to be a common problem and Nokia aren’t interested.

    hmmm – it’s Roscommon

    </div>

It’s not that bad if you have a reason to visit. There’s a couple of decent bars in the town and some vaguely interesting places to visit, the Bog Museum for example. Otherwise the midlands is a sleepy part of the country, farming and bogs sums it up.
