Still got a couple of Parrot Performance tops from c2000. And a pair of Ground Effect shorts and liners from the same period as well as a couple of GE tops.

Probably should wash them one of these days…..

My 9 year old daughter bought herself a Blackberry Playbook with her Christmas money.

Brilliant little gadget for £125 from Currys. Latest OS has addressed the issues the PB had at launch and I have compared it to the Kindle HD and my iPad and cant fault it. 64 GB too! :-)

Got mine today. They fit the Deal Extreme Jawbones perfectly.

BUT…I had to pay £11.42 in duty in order to get them delivered. £3.42 in VAT and £8 – yes £8 – for a “Handling Fee” to Royal Mail :-(

    Still a good deal though.

All Hell Let Loose by Max Hastings gives a very interesting insight into the multitude of deals, politics, economic considerations, rivalry and plain stupidity which existed prior to and during WW2

Very few nations came out of that period smelling of roses but many individuals acted with bravery and resourcefulness that is alien to most of us.

I have an Urge and a Fox and both are excellent.

I got the Urge (!) to replace a Recon which just wasnt comfy on my head and wore it all winter. Its very comfy and a good fit (XL) and fitted even better the longer I wore it. I was a tad concerned about it possibly being too warm when it gets summer-ish as I tend to sweat a lot. And its worth mentioning that the sweat band thingy actually does work.

I couldnt resist a bargain Fox from the classifieds and Ive worn it on my last few mini-epics. Again its very comfy and probably does vent better than the Urge. It also does a good job of keeping sweat from your eyes.

Ive no issues with either but Im lucky tohave a standard type head so fit and retention are no problem.

BTW – the green/black/pink Flux looks a lot better in the flesh!

    Yep. Time out lads.

Jimmy – send the brakes to me and I will forward them to RealMan at my expense.

RealMan – PayPal me the price paid and I will re-PayPal it back to Jimmy and pay the fee.

Then perhaps we can put this sorry mess to bed for good.

I just went to the local woods on my todd.

You can’t actually see the trails but they are drying out very nicely and riding exceptionally well!

gp – I dont know. Im using 2.1 which arent nearlly as volumous as the MK but there is a 2.35 version available.

I think I have found my ideal tyre with the Ignitors. I ride non aggressive XC ( ie mince) with visits to Kirroughtree and Dalbeattie etc, and my local woods are a mixture of mud, rocky bits and nice dry trails depending on the day of the week, which the Ignitors cope with very well.

I was using a MK 2 Protection on the rear ( XR4 on front) until recently.

I found they rolled really well and had great grip in the dry. But the rear had a habit of sliding on loose surfaces and I was disappointed at the lack of grip on wet stone and light mud. It would often just spin out and lose traction, especially during climbs which was a real pain.

Ive reverted back to Ignitors LUS T and I would recommend them as a great all-rounder.

There is a particularly posh area outside Belfast and for years the area has been blighted by a chap who owns lots of land but uses his massive front garden as a scrap yard. His neighbours hate him and have often campaigned to have him clean up his act. His neighbours do come across as rather pompus.

One year the local paper reported that this chap had won a contract to raise scuttled WW2 U Boats from off the coast of Ireland and carried an interview with him were he explained at great length how he was going to transport the U Boats by low loader to his land and then cut them up for scrap.

His neighbours were outraged and the story made local TV. The newly formed Residents Association spokesman ( think posh pompus git) stating that UBoats would not be allowed tnrough his village was priceless.

It was a total wind up of course. Sadly not in April but ingenious nonetheless

One morning years ago I got out of the shower and realised I had run out of deodorant. So on the way to work I stpped at the local Spar and bought a can of Right Guard. Back in my car I gave my armpits a generous squirt.

    And then lit a cigarette.

There was a mighty flash and I could smell singed hair for days….

A friend of mine was a police officer and one day he shot dead three guys who tried to kill him and his colleague. His colleague was seriously injured but Robert was unharmed.

It affected him deeply and destroyed his life. He could never understand how he had got up that morning to go to work and ended up responsible for three deaths. And he hated people congratulating him and regarding him as some kind of brave hero.

He drank himself to death recently.

Oh I know the bike isnt free ( despite the killer deal on my Heckler) and Im excluding all the clothing, bling and maintenance costs. And of course Im not including lights ( DX man, me)

And I was referring to local rides ( KT costs me about £150 a trip)

It just occurred to me that there is never much left of the £20 I take for “emergencies” when I get home and this weeks riding will cost me £20-£30

I reckon its still money well spent. :-)

Hmmm…I am a tad concerned about where these guys are getting coins to sell online. Id hate to think some wee fella is getting his Xbox hacked and his FIFA points stolen to meet any order I would make. And Ill be damned if I have to pay anymore cash anyways.

Andy – my son has ended up with only 12 players and almost all are injured. Could you ask your son how to sell injured players?

    Thanks

Im sure the game cant just “brick” because kids mismanage their team too HP. And also the fact that EA dont seem to sell these “coins” makes me think there are other methods of rebooting his team and that P jnr is probably looking for a very quick fix. I dont know these methods though and he insists there isnt!

I have beem down the well trodden NAD, Marantz, Mission and Cyrus road over the years but a while ago I finally acquired some Bang and Olufsen and fulfilled a lifelong ambition.

I faffed around a bit but have achieved what to me is the perfect sounding system.

B&O Beomaster 6000 circa 1982, B&O CD X circa 1985 and B&O Penta 1 from around 1987. I mixed and matched various amps , CD players and speakers before finally settling on an almost total B&O system which still looks fantastic, is built like a tank and sounds just beautiful. I tried several B&O turntables but use a Moth as I reckoned it outperformed the B&Os.

The system would have cost several thousand when new but has cost me about £500 which wouldnt buy anything sounding anywhere near as good today.

    Oldies are goldies!
