Applied for about £400 worth of tickets. Got a crappy track & field event for one morning – probably not worth the trip up there for it, shame :-(

BTW, my spell check seems to think I should have put “judgmental” (with only one ‘e’) – that’s not right, is it?

Your spell checker appears to be correct! :-)

I read the subject as “Beer can solve problem”.

    Am now insanely disappointed. :-(

don’t make a habit of jump starting modern cars.

Serious question, but whats wrong with jump starting modern cars? Isn’t it exactly the same, except its using the power from another car? Or did you mean bump starting it?

If someone asked me to do that I’d tell them to shove their job up their arse! :-)

I know a UK company that can do it (e.g. you type in a mobile number and it matches to a name and address), however, it uses data collected from ‘marketing sources’ that allow the data to be searched in any way. However as it comes from ‘marketing sources’ – it tends to be very hit and miss.

My default position it to ‘jump’ them unless there’s an ASL

    +1

I’m the same, I ‘jump’ them pretty much all the time. BUT I dont actually cross the junction while they’re on red, I just like to stop as far in-front of the ASL as I can before I get into the junction itself. Gives me a much bigger head start, and probably lessens the irritation factor of all the drivers who I have just filtered past.

Well aware people may not necessarily agree with what I do, however I simply do not care. I do what I believe keeps ME safe. Simples. :-)

EDIT: not really sure any of this is anything to do with the point of the OP though!

Dont care how quick I can do it how shitty is the product that you cannot last more than 15 hours without replacing all the oil

    +1

You pay for a ‘premium’ product, and have to spend half your life servicing them… I don’t think so!

FWIW, I’ve had a set of Bombers since 2002…and they haven’t had a single service. Granted they are probably knackered inside now, but they still perform adequately enough for me. Just.

Egypt, some bargains to be had there..

I imagine you’re right! From what i’ve heard, the red sea resorts are meant to be unaffected…but know the Mothership wouldnt want to take the risk, nor would I probs :-)

But hmm Croatia is somewhere I hadn’t considered, but after a brief Google, it looks stunning!

You’re thinking of 165cm, which would be 6.5″.

    Im confused. Wouldnt 165cm be 5ft 4inches?

Haha, the poor OP, he probably only wanted a bit of friendly advice. He got advice though, some of it is just missing the ‘friendly’ bit.

Saying that, my advice does mimic a lot of the above. Depending on where you are in the country (I cant be bothered to look), a houseshare wont cost you more than £300-£400 max, bills included, and you’ll probably have an absolute blast, and can continue to decide on buying a place at the same time. Plus a lot of the time, there is no real commitment, so if you don’t like it, you can try another place.

Go for it, YOLO, Carpe Diem, and all that jazz. Good luck with whatever you do :-)

Hi, were you able to get the part number? I have exactly the same wheels and the same problem however all four of my centre caps were stolen so i can’t get the correct part number. My wheels are 17″ and none of the caps i’ve found on ebay fit.

Sounds like richc has been poaching caps – and maybe collected a few spares at the same time…

So she pays an additional £450 up front to cover additional cleaning etc

If she’s willing to do this, then it has to be the best way foreward (though £450 sounds a teeny bit steep..).

Same here actually, had 2 bl00dy rabbits that turned out to be a right PITA when looking for a house to rent.

If it were me i’d just schedule in monthly inspections and closely monitor it…as soon as you notice the house condition deteriorating then i’d be inclined to say bye-bye to her.

If she’s a decent tenant, she will look after the house, and it’ll be win win for you both. However, doesn’t change the fact that she lied though..

This thread really has woken up the STW dickheads keyboard warriors hasn’t it.

The aim of this thread was just to give others a quick courteous heads up, yet all the poor chap gets is grief.

Should there be another issue, the company may be ‘nice’ (providing you use them to fix the other issue) and give you another free re-gas after they have fixed whatever needs fixing.

Could be the clutch on the compressor on the way out?

    +1

The “works when it wants to” bit suggests it *could* be something else. I bought a 2003 A3 earlier in the year with the air-con not working (should have tested it first I know..), assumed a re-gas would sort it. Turned out the clutch on it had gone, so new compressor time. Luckily had a warranty which covered it :-)
