Another plus for Dodd’s although I think they close early and the chippy next to Ghyllside Cycles on The Slack is decent for some lunch time indugence. The Royal Oak pub on Church Street is great too.

Strava is much better with altitude calculations, try exporting the GPX file from Endo into Strava and see what it makes of it.

Good to know about the SSC guide for future reference. I think the MT2 come with MT4 levers even after market and my none Magura brakes needed bleeding from new too but good to know you’re happy with them other than that.

I’ve been using Halfords silicone spray but Fork Juice is meant to have a higher silicone content, another alternative is Finish Line Stanchion lube. It reduces friction and stops dirt sticking to the stanchions but always cover the brakes up as it’ll contaminate the pads and reduce friction there too!

Looks good, I’m hoping to pick one up in the sales in September. I thought the lower linkage position was the reason some chain devices don’t fit but maybe that isn’t the case. I was planning on using a Bionicon c.guide with it which is double and triple compatible.

Off topic but how are you getting on with the Magura MT2 brakes?

That will be the reason then, it seems like the lugs aren’t designed to take the load as you’re meant to tighten the seat pin against the chain so that it takes all the force of the pin being pushed out.

    Nealy,
That x tools one is the same tool I got in the post from Crc and the seat pins all broke off!
They don’t have the ct-3 on there but 15 years out of one sounds good to me…!

Do you mean the pin that pushes the link pin out or the the lugs that hold the chain in place? If its the latter then tightening the seating pin against the chain should prevent it. I’ve only used it once but that was on a KMC chain which are meant to be tough to break.

I’ve got the X-Tools rivet extractor which I’m quite impressed with. It come with a spare pin and the seating pin to support the other side of the chain stops the the lugs bending.

B’Twin from Decathalon may be worth considering http://www.decathlon.co.uk/btwin-facet-3-id_8127608.html

Do your own research as I’m not au fait with road bikes.

The family skills courses provided by oneplanet adventure requires at least one adult to supervise so not really what you want. I’d suggest one adult going with the little kids and one go with the big kids.

Mine goes to the enter pun screen, try changing the requires pin time to 1 minute and try again. I think it’s ok.

^ My advice is never ever have any dealings whatsoever with any of the banks…especially if it involves a mortgage ;)

I’ve ordered pads from SSC on a few occasions and they’ve all been fine. I ordered wheels from them and the delivery date was delayed by a few days but this was communicated to me and they arrived on the revised date, they’ve had 400km on them so far and are still perfectly smooth and true. I ordered a 203mm rotor (non-floating) and brake adapter from them yesterday which arrived today in a jiffy bag, it appears to be perfectly true but any tweaking will be easy with an adjustable spanner and is fairly common with new rotors. The adaptor I ordered was wrong due to me being too stupid to select the right type from the dropdown menu so that has been returned today using their form and the correct one ordered which has already been dispatched.

I really don’t see the problem with them, if it was my business I wouldn’t take the hit on everything at my expense until I was sure the product was at fault.

They’re only meant to be fitted to the eyelet that moves the most which you’ll be able to work out when you compress the rear. A needle bearing will tend to “notch” the race if it doesn’t rotate much.

What pinches said, you won’t damage the hub. Park Tool is made for the job but an adjustable spanner is fine too. Quick google search gave these results or you can just keep buying rotors.

No beer: done that but just cant get it spot on, and I don’t like riding with a disc rubbing on a hi spot.

Try again and be patient, make sure the caliper is adjusted properly too.

Llandegla is one of the busiest trail centres so it’s stands to reason there will be more knobs there but not necessarily a higher percentage than anywhere else. For what it’s worth the vast majority of riders I’ve met there have been sound but then it’s the same for everywhere else I’ve been. The new stuff there is great though so even with a few morons and groups milling about it’s still worth a trip.

Before you order the official and expensive air and damper seal kits check out the Reba o-ring kits for £8.75 from evilhomersimpson on ebay which may fit your Revs, search for “Rock Shox U-Turn (Reba) O-rings / Seals – Crush Washer kit”. Also if you need to buy all your oils then Red Line LightWeight suspension fluid is great for the damper as it’s very good quality and a very close match to Rockshox 5W oil (many 5W oils are much more or less viscous), Mobil 1 fully synthetic is better for the lowers than 15W fork oil as it clings to parts better and is slippier. You’re meant to use a thicker oil for the top of the air piston although I just used engine oil, the place that sells the Enduro fork seals sells pillow packs of it or you can use gear oil.

I did the Marin a few weeks ago in the ice which made the fireroad down hill section a bit more interesting ;) I really enjoyed it and the final decsent is brilliant. I’ve not done Penmachno but will be doing so in the not too distant based on everyones praise.

I did Nant Yr Arian years ago and it was excellent, it’s definitely somewhere I want to get back to again.

I replaced the crap square taper BB that came with my bike last year for a UN55 (metal lockring cup)which I expect to run for a very long time.

Real World Cycling do their own external BB’s which have just been updated to angular contact bearings, £60 with postage so not cheap but they’re meant to be good > http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id198.html

I’ve just started drinking about 200ml of chocolate milk (Tesco’s own brand) within 15 minutes of finishing rides and do feel better for it plus according to Strava my average speed has increased. Result!

I spend very little on food and drink as water comes out of taps and I nick the kids lunch snacks. It’s petrol and parking that really make a dent in my wallet.

Not sure about using it with a Mac but the one I bought for my wife was unregistered when I plugged it into a PC to drop a load of PDF’s onto it. It just appears as an external device like a USB drive.

I’ve got Hong Kong torches, batteries and chargers from DX but I’m reluctant to recommend them to friends for fear of them breaking or going bang. They’re not CE tested and there’s no real guarantee if bought direct from HK although there are UK sellers who offer their own guarantee. The HK lights are great and extremely cheap but with the risks involved I wouldn’t expect a publication to recommend them to the general public who may or may not be morons and leave everything plugged in while they go on holiday!

Rock’n’roll Extreme all year. Soon to be Rock’n’Roll Gold.

    This +1

I’ve got both but only use Gold when it’s properly dry…so use Extreme all year round ;)

Always use soap flakes as per the instructions on the box, it even specifically mentions it’s for outdoor gear. Tesco sell it branded as Granny’s soak flakes and boots sell it as their own brand, it used to be called Lux. Much cheaper than Nikwax Tech Wash etc. after washing in normal detergent (even non-bio) they’ll need reproofing, spray on may be best.
