why should i just follow a procedure of a company i dont trust

because otherwise you’ll be stuck with a useless bent rotor? The alternative is you don’t have a bent rotor and you’ve spent a quid or two on postage – you might even get a replacement if you’re lucky.

I only buy small solid parts from them – like their centelock to 6 bolt adapters which are far cheaper than anyone elses, although when you compare them you can see why!.

He’ll have told you to bend it back so he can say you’ve bent it and voided the warranty. Possibly…

You are over complicating matters by not just posting it back though, if they accept liability they should refund you the postage.

Did you perhaps fit it with a rock? 🙂

He has a pretty bad rep on this forum for woefully bad customer service and astroturfing.

As much as I enjoy The Rules they are, in the main, written by Americans, trying to be Europeans/look like the pros they are not, so what would they know?

With Shimano rolling Di2 out to groups like Alfine I can’t see them bothering to combine mechanical gears and hydro discs. I think your options will be Di2+hydro/Di2+mechanical/mechanical+mechanical. Is it not in that artical (cba reading it again, it may have been somewhere else I read it) that Shimano say they are bringing out a new mechanical disc?

Anyone tried the Morvelo bibs? Look like a similar chamois to the zipvits, which I’m finding much better than my dhbs so far, although haven’t had them long enough.

The only problem I have with the zipvit ones is I have no commercial ties with them 😀 – I’m not a fan of big logos on kit unless they are sponsoring me/my club!

I need some more shorts to keep me going until the new club kit comes in May…

I should add that as a chronic exercise addict you have no need for the full-on iDiet

FTFY!

Enough about you, this thread is about me.

Soz! Will catch up on the blog at lunch as penance (and pop out for some wine 😀 )

A moment on the lips is a lliretime on the hips…

especially when you can’t walk!

I went off them after too many one night gave me sore teeth! Biggest problem you have is now you need to keep up the sugar consumption for the rest of the night so you don’t have a massive crash…

Never had a problem with things falling out of jersey pockets, even on a high speed rocky descent on my tourer/cx – it had got properly cold so the arm and knee warmers that had been helping stuff my pockets and hold the pump securely for the climb were being worn for the descent.

Are your jerseys a ‘racing fit’? I guess if they’re a bit loose stuff can bounce about more.

Quick, simple and tasty – home made baked beans;
soften an onion/shalotte chuck in tin of chopped toms and 1 or 2 tins beans (whatever you have lying around but butter work well) skoosh of tomatoe puree and just enough ketchup/honey/sugar to take the sharpness of the toms. Simmer gently, until nice and thick, and pile on some thick, buttered bread of your choice.

Sometimes it gets garlic in it, sometimes some chilli or paprica, sometimes whatever fresh herbs I have lying about needing used up.

p.s. I used to think the same about not eating too many eggs but it has been shown not to be a problem.

2 tubes, 2 CO2+head, 2 Pedros levers, multi tool and a wee patch kit in a Park quick patch box all in a seat pack (I have withdrawn my recomendation for that particular seat pack though). Used to be a topeak road morph pump in the pocket instead of the CO2. as seen in this thread.

Also a gel/bar for eating + an emergency caffeine gel (worse tasting the better so you know it’s never going to be a temptation when you don’t need it) in one pocket and phone and a tenner in a zip loc baggie in teh other.

Leaves plenty of pocket space for stashing rain cape/gilet/arms/knees in the current changeable weather.

wot he^ said.

We usually have eggs or fish at least every other day and go through lots of milk (~5litres between two of us last week) as well as eating loads of beans.

Mines a Swift too – Sam has said on many occasions he thinks a light wheelset is as good/better than a light frame (I may be mis quoting a little there!) then posts the pic of the swift with Reynolds carbon tubs.

Lazy question – anyone know off the top of their head if 15mm and 9mm xt hubs have the same dimensions? I’ve a spare qr M775 front hub and I figure for that money I could swap the front hubs – even cheaper option if I don’t need new spokes too!

TINAS – A2Z superlight – £135 from uk bike store 116g front and 228g rear. Potentially available cheaper elsewhere under a different name, but you’ll need njee for that.

Sounds like you need to take a pack of baby wipes with you to a ride and get out of your lycra asap and have a quick ‘shower’.

Maybe wash you kit at 40 too – if you follow the manufacturers instructions and usually do it at 30…

Ground Effect do a Merino Lycra 3/4 with pad. Prices work out ok and they deliver suprsingly quickly. Didn’t get any customs charges last time i ordered either 😀

What’s the placebo in a compression tights study

I think it was lycra tights with a different composition so they stretched more rather than compressioned (yes i did just make that word up 🙂 ), the idea being that the riders weren’t influenced by knowing if they had compression tights or not. I presume they were all told they did have them.

I’ll hopefully make it across the water for this. Saw it on Velo UK t’other day. Where you can also find our very own dirtygirlonabike blogging.

They have to take it along the Links don’t they?! It’s not like the locals aren’t used to it being closed for long periods.

As an aside; have you seen coverage from the mersey tunnel TT, think something like that could be done across the Forth Road Bridge? Cross winds would make it ‘interesting’ 😈

There is a piece in the comic about a Kiwi study -if I’m remembering it correctly- they took a bunch of evenly matched ‘multi sport athletes’ (I think that means triathletes) and got them to do a TT.

1/2 were then given compression tights and the other 1/2 a placebo to wear for 24hrs. After the 24hrs the TT was repeated. The whole excercise was repeated a couple of weeks later (I think mixing up who did and didnt get the compression wear).

Conclusion was that those who wore the compression performed better, in the 2nd TT, than those who did not.

They had put this in place a few months ago but after a lot of fuss they’ve already recinded it. My sprinter converted inside was changed just last week by the dvla based on a couple of pics, no questions asked.

That’s great news, I can get back to my planning *wishes he had put a bid on that ambulance* hmmmm… 🙂

Look on fixed gear gallery for their messenger bag review, although I suspect most will be made out of a heavy cordura material.

maybe the banjo brothers medium ticks most of your boxes?

I would say it depends on the quality. If it’s some£60 jobbie off planet xthing you’ve bought off RealMan you might as well replace them for peace of mind. If they’re some £400 ritcheys, I’d want to get as much life out of them as I could. If it’s cross as well, a fork breaking isn’t going to be that bad. Would be much worse on road.as they’ll be obviously knackered even though he’ll claim they’re box fresh
