Thanks SJ/ask1974 – I am now communicating with you via the wonders of wifi! 🙂 The IPv4 was set to automatic but the DNS(?) wasn’t set to automatic.

And yes, I am that incompetent with a computer that it has taken me the last 45 minutes to find it! 😳

I was hoping I wouldn’t have to go so far as to ask how to open a command prompt 🙂

edsbike – that sounds like an ace (and cheap) way to spend the weekend!

I’m crit racing on Saturday (foregoing a beer festival tonight for the privelage 😥 ) followed by Whinlatter challenge on Sunday – I predict a whole world of pain!

Nice ‘weapon’ there Sammy Louise – will go particularly well with your death row kit – just remember when it comes to the seat tower; measure twice cut once!

Did Heineken not kill of White Lightening last year after they aquired whoever it is that makes it and decided they didn’t like it’s image?

Looks good TD – is it wrong that I kinda like the green tyres on it?

I think they look really nice, I’d be tempted if I had a suitable bike for them 😀

Check the European mail order places; have some folk on here not managed to buy Specialized bikes available in Europe and not the UK?

You could get the matching podium shoes too 🙂

Steerer tube on that fork is a little excessive, I though the Swift fork came with a silly long steerer but that is nuts!

Harsh is what I’ve heard too, but it doesn’t stop me thinking about a 29er version when/if it appears…

I now really hold back at the initial signs of a cold, and it seems to help – I seem to get over them much quicker now.

This^ – I pretty much stop the second I feel a cold coming on to let my body deal with it as fast as possible. Saying that, the last cold I had was more just a hint of a head cold and I managed fine and still shifted it quickly, which was nice 🙂 So I think the rule about above the shoulders carry on, below stop holds true, but if I was felling crappy from a head cold I’d still rest up.

    Just looked at this on my phone to see your photos;

1 – I hope no one that got there early neede to leave teh cafe stop in a hurry!

2 – Your PX really is too small.

3 – Your new one the same as the front of those two? Looks very nice.

I need to get spokes ordered and spend some silly money on 3 tub tyres so I can get out on these new wheels.

How many road bikes actually get used for racing where “neutral” or team wheel swaps are likely?

almost every bike that gets raced – in amateur races, if you want service during the race you supply a wheel to go in the support car but the wheel you get during the race is unlikley to be the one that you supplied. Therefore, neutral service issues are probably bigger in the lower ranks than the pro tour where service is provided by Shimano/Enve/Mavic etc.

Did you hold the spindle in a vice while polishing? that is a very random looking failure

Oohhhhh that sounds good. I hadn’t clocked it was based in Palma when I was looking at their website before although

Our accommodation is based only five kilometers from the airport

should have given it away 🙄 Their website isn’t exactly bursting with information, not that many of the training camp companies seem to give much away on their websites, but I doubt they can aford to do much with it with being so cheap!

p.s. I’ve still not got spokes so the wheels aren’t built yet

The whisky cask returns don’t tend to include what the distillery charge you for storage and bottling of ‘your’ whisky…

If it’s related to the hummer i guess it depends on what length fork it was designed for…

this is about the cable runs and about making everything internal

Totally agree and I think this is going to lead to the adoption of hose connectors so you can have a fluid filled hose/tube in the frame and just unplug the caliper and lever without the introduction of air to, or loss of fluid from, the system.

The adoption of discs on road bikes is going to push the development (or maybe that should be refinement) of little things, that we didn’t know we wanted/needed, that will make tasks like wheel swapping and replacing damaged levers quicker and easier IMHO – if changing wheels with discs turns out to be as time consuming as some seem to think it will it won’t take long for the teams to push their sponsors to improve it. I can see disc mount positioning on hubs to be one of the first things that get standardised, either that or quick and reliable caliper re-alignment.

TSY got something similar in Edinburgh and I don’t think they’ve locked him up yet, or if they have they’ve given him a gym and pc access in his cell 🙂

Not sure why you would want anything else really

A custom fork with equally big discs both sides?

    EDIT oh yeah …and hub

I’d spend the money on something that can take full length ‘guards for winter and splash the cash on Di2 or some bling for the Cube.

    is a Santana thing

that’s what it was! I’m sure the rotor was bigger than 203 too, but that’s kinda explained in that piece too, without actually stating what size it is (unless I just got bored by that point 🙂 )

I could do it for you with my online banking (HBOS), if you trust me. Think the cost is £7.50/transaction but would need to check. Had to do it to buy those XT hubs from Germany.

    Still haven’t ordered spokes BTW

so you’re drinking the calories rather than eating them?

In the summer I saw some Americans on a tandem with a gargantuan disc on one end (I think it was back but can’t remeber, will have to see if I took a pic) and a V brake the other, which seemed like pretty strange decision making on the manufacturers part (or buyers if it was a custom build – either way they were matching F&f so presumably designed/built to go together).

so why not make a light one

would it be if it was as strong as the steel one though?

My old (aluminium) Norco hardtail is probably strong enough to survive a nuclear strike but is not what you would class as light by any stretch of the imagination.

There’s a guy at our local wall who is missing a couple of fingers on one hand – I think the two middle ones. So even if you don’t get it fixed, there’s still hope…

I’m sure there must be people out there riding way above their fitness levels with all this getting so knackered and hungry after riding.

This makes no sense to me at all.

How do you intend to improve if you only ever pootle about within your comfort zone?

question is whether he will get it re painted white to match the Ferrari’s

I thought it being black was perhaps a deliberate contrast giving it had it’s own room an all.

A small Italian Margherita take away from Pizza Hut is about 700 cals, so eat 1 per hour of chain ganging to replenish

but that leaves you in a 150cal deficit after 3hrs! – wafer thin mint?

And Claire – you’re probably still in deficit!

I find it difficult to bring myself to be an advertising hoarding on the bike when I’ve no association to the product, even though I’ll walk about in t-shirts with logos on them. I did get zip-vit kit when it was going cheap though so i’m a bit of a hypocrite and i’ve no problem with other people wearing whatever they like.

I couldn’t even let myself get the morvelo jersey with the rainbow stripes even though i think it looks great and i need a ‘plain’ jersey to race in until the new club kit comes in May.

p.s. apparently adidas don’t make the Sky and GB cycling kit but you didn’t hear that from me 😉
