To tie up the loose ends – bought a new freebody from JRA and solved the problem.

Compared the new and existing side by side – no real discernible difference between spring projection – however thought the ‘ridges’ on the old cam plate seemed ever so slightly flattened compared to the new, might have been the reason for lack of engagement.

This thread has put a tear in my eye over my old Clio 182 Trophy #303/500.

The capsicum red colour, antrhacite alloys, recaro racing seats, brembo rakes, etc, etc, etc..

Oh Claudia, why did I let you go!

To me potential maintenance includes additional penetrations in the fabric of the building, particularly on the roof.

You confusing running costs with general building maintenance.

An economically efficient building isn’t necessarily a thermally efficient one.

Was an end of lunch type and run.

Edukator – Primarily i was broadly answering the OP ‘what would I do’

I’m not professing it’s the best solution and i’m not saying ‘don’t use renewables’, just I would not.

Fundamentally i would want good fabric insulation values, good airtightness and ventilation strategy – adding renewables to me means designing in ‘potential’ maintenance issues.

I would want a comfortable property with as little to think about as possible.

I’d insulate as much as possible so the fabric of the building gives the efficiency.

Then, zoned UFH throughout except bathrooms/ensuites where I’d have electric heating mats on the floor and some areas of wall.

90+% efficient boiler with weather compensator.

I’d ignore all bolt on renewables.

Was this page I kept looking at as well.

32 F Series only seems to have 80 and 100 going to assume my 120 is similar, use the oil volumes as above.

    And found this…

SketchUp is limited in functionality and sophistication but useful for quick modelling / massing exercises.

It depends what your apprentices are going to be doing longer term, but I can’t see the point in training them to use any modelling software that isn’t BIM if they’re going to be doing the architectural/building modelling. Look at Revit or Aecosim.

Exactly this limits abortive/non-productive working. Depends on size of project though (i.e. how much fee you have to spend on the project.)

We use ArchiCAD by Graphisoft, if you do do a bit of research you’ll see why I mentioned Artlantis.

I did contact AM direct and got the below who seemed to suggest a replacement hence my potentially money saving enquiry – then they realised I was a private individual and told me to go the the dealership where I got the wheels.

    Hi Ben,

    Thanks for contacting us!

Where are you located? Yes you need a new cassette body shimano 9/10. Do you have the receipt for purchase?

    Thank you,

    Subject: Pawls not engaging?

    Feedback: Hi,

I have a set of American Classic All Mountain Tubeless 26inch. Had since April 2013.

Recently the freehub/cassette was turning whilst i was pedalling but the pawl didn’t seem to be engaging so the wheel wouldn’t turn.

This evening i have carried out the overhaul form the manual section of the website but this has not helped.

Does this mean I need a new hub and body.

    Kind regards,

    Ben

I’d be stunned if it was a new hub, there aren’t that many parts in there

I was surprised at how few to be honest.

    As I mentioned I didn’t change any bearings – shouldn’t matter though…..should it?

Caked with crap is probably the best decription of what I found inside.

After clean – If I move the cam plate the pawls engage, with cassette installed but held in hand and try to spin wheel, pawls engage.

Put on bike and pedal – crunch crunch crunch.

    Possibly not all pawls engaging?

Filled in but not pressed done yet.

Question 9 – does that mean ‘do I think that the DLC should be included for free upon initial purchase of the game’ or ‘that you still have to pay for it but at a fair price’?

With green roofs, if the roof pitch is steep – lets say greater than 10 degrees – there usually (dependant on who you speak to) needs to be an irrigation system otherwise it can’t retain enough water/moisture.

Flicking through iPlayer yesterday with Mrs B100 – saw this and we gave it a watch – fantastic, even the OH likes and her boredom threshold is very low with things to do with biking.

Having read threads on the interwebs before about Chris Akrigg riding more natural stuff – couldn’t help but ponder if this was some kind of response. :?:

Whatever the reason, was brilliant – been doing that ‘hit something forward flip forward’ for years mind, just don’t necessarily land on my wheels, ever.

I’m another one with loads of baby gates but no kids. I even have them on my office door at work, meaning that anyone coming in as well as me going out has to vault it – Molly has worked out how to open it unless I lock it down. Annoyingly clever little mutt…

In the end we had to keep raising ours has the dog could easily jump them. Got so high that he was able to just crawl under them.

Ended up taking them off when he was finally trained not go upstairs or into another room unless he’s told/allowed. (He’s never allowed upstairs though!)

    MrBen100 – is that a Spinone?

Always promised that when I get another dog it’ll be a Spinone. What are they like with a bike? (I’ve heard they make excellent runners’ companions, which makes me wonder if they might be a bit slow to go out on a ride).

And anything else I should know…?

Indeed he is Testaverde Shu – Leonard to his friends and family though.

They are good dogs to run with, as you jog they pretty much trot beside. However you do have to keep the dog interested – if he/she doesn’t want to run they won’t.

Brilliant temperament, fortunately ours doesn’t bark apart from little woofs in his sleep – some do like the sound of their own voices though!

Ours did have a tendency to chase everyone on a bike – that soon stopped though after we took it off him (IGMC).

Whenever he sees me on my bike he launches towards me rather than alongside, so we haven’t pursued that avenue much further.

As with alot of larger breeds, need to be careful with exercise and stairs in particular whilst the joints are forming/strengthening theres lots of info on the web. Also they are susceptible to bloat so mindful of feeding and exercise.

Pretty much the Spinone bible is a book by Carolyn Fry.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Italian-Spinone-World-Dogs/dp/1852790849

You’d need to find a used copy as no longer printed.

Slobber marks to contend with on walls/ceilings/anything within about a 30ft radius. If you dont keep on top of the stripping of the coat, quite aklot of hair everywhere as well.

Can always email if got any questions – but I’m an owner not expert/breeder.

What’s that more photos. Ah go one then.

you dont run the dehumidifer all the time (if you are you have bigger problems) you just run it when you have washing to dry.

Looks like you’re using it as a permanent solution if not running the unit permanently.

A tumble dryer ducted to outside would be better for the building than a dehumidifier although your wallet wouldn’t thank you obviously.

My first dog – Ziggy, an 8 week old working cocker. Love him to bits already!

Just wondering if you’re like alot of other dog owners we know, including ourselves, who now have lots of baby gates but no children of your own!

As a single car family, every now and again I have to relinquish control of the car keys and get the train in to work.

To be honest I love it, much prefer seeing the countryside going by whilst sitting back and relaxing rather than dealing with the A14.

If it wasn’t £14.40 for a return I’d do it alot more. 45mins by car 30mins by train.

I know the economics probably work out to cheaper to not have the car and have a season ticket – but we do need a car as in the middle of nowhere.

    all interesting stuff.

Isnt a dehumidifier expensive to run?

Whether the answer is yes or no I would suggest it’s not a permanent solution for condensation/ventilation issues.

…I’ve also experimented with heat recovery ventilation but don’t think it is very effective unless designed into the home from the start.

Often wondered if this sort of thing would work for those who are afraid that PIV will be too cold.

    http://www.envirovent.com/home-ventilation/products/heat-recovery-systems/heatsava/

EDIT: and there appears to be alot of scepticism about MVHR and Building Controls finding the real world application is no-where near as good as the manufacturers test……surprise surprise.

Ventilation is usually the solution in the majority of condensation issues IMHO.

As above PIV might be the solution if you’ve exhausted other avenues.

We live in a 50/60’s house, the owners we bought it off have done a fair bit of DIY – in the process removed all forms of ventilation air bircks/no trickle vents/ no bathroom extract etc.

In cooler weather there would be alot of condensation in all upstairs windows, pools of water on cills, mould forming on blinds and cornerjunction of walls and ceiling.

I was sceptical but had one of these installed:

    http://www.envirovent.com/home-ventilation/products/condensation-and-mould-solutions/mr-venty-eco-sub-2-sub-loft/

It has solved all of our condensation issues – yes the bathroom gets condensation when being used etc, but does not linger as before.

I am in no way guaranteeing it will work, it’s not for everyone, some notice a draught (I do not as I’m a burly man grrrrr!) and as with everything look online for these type of systems there will always be those where it did not work.

Was £900 fitted – had it about 2.5yrs now.

Similar topic discussed a while back that may also give some suggestions.

    My tuppence…

As above no no to gas pipes in boxing, unless its ventilated to external air. Kaboom.

If its a mini-gym, are you going to exercise with the garage door shut? Likely to create a fair bit of moisture laden air, so some sort of ventilation required?

Fixings for wall mounted items? Through to structure not insulated PB.

Usually tape joints of boards to create vapour control. Note british gypsum insulated boards refer to it as a vapour check board i seem to remember. Not sure if this is ‘proper’ vapour control.

Careful with any ceiling mounted fixings, not advisable as this is a fire compartment.

If you’re potentially putting a rad in in the future i would consider more insulation on the walls than you are proposing. Currently your spec would be taking the edge off the wall surfaces being cold – if heating i would want more insulation so it costs less to heat. If connected to your homes central heating then it may start to require regs.

Probably want a floor covering to protect concrete from dropping weights?

Even with cavity wall i’d be checking that there is still a dpc – should be as integral but may not depending on age of property.

Do you need insulation to the internal walls? Why not just the external ones?

Obviously no idea of exact property/existing constructions etc. but these are some of the questions i’d be thinking about.

Some of the questions relate to if you are ultimately looking to turn the garage into a habitable room (definitely needs regs), or if this is just ‘superficial” so the garage can be reinstated at a later date.
