    Hey, Agent –

because it’s just easier and avoids the awkward moment when the bill arrives and she just sits there looking at me.

If you find that awkward, they you’re not a keeper. Retrieve your testicles and say: “How shall we pay for this one? I paid last time so this time it’s yours”

If women want equal pay (as is only fair), then they should pay a proportioonal amount of costs.
So the OP should have his richer girlfriend paying for at least 2 out of 3 meals 🙂

I also have high BP, or would have if I weren’t taking a small does of an ACE inhibitor every day. (Lisinopril) I have seen no side -effects yet. Listen to the doc, take the drugs if offered, high BP will kill you slowly so don’t listen to the “plant extracts” cranks.

Done that. I’ve got a good story but it’s too long to tell here just now.

I’m 5’8″ ish, riding a small Haro Mary rigid SS. It fits beautifully and I enjoy riding it very much.
My road bikes are 700c /29ers too. 🙂

Who wants a Dawes Edge One SS, with crappy bits? Dead cheeeeeep!

Have you bought some skinny jeans recently?
My thighs can be bald or hairy depending upon which trousers I’ve been wearing most. Same for my calves.

Jon, where did you get it from? Can you provide a link? I plan to be away from powere supplies for some time later this summer.

They’ve been fine for me, over a number of years.
I’m not a fashion queen, so I tend to go for the cheapest frames that suit me (in my daughter’s opinion).
2 pairs for £65, including lenses, seems an excellent deal to me. As a big chain they have all the optical testing gear that’s needed and some good optometrists.

I presume OneUp is the biggest player in this particular market

I think you’ll find that Shimano, SRAM & Campag might be slightly larger, and have deeper pockets.

EDIT: Brant, yes, you may well be right. Someone will have to design the equivalent of a chainring spider to get around that, or another means of avoiding flex.

aracer: any big sprocket could be described as extending the range, so yes they all do.

It’s a patent troll. Any top sprocket could be described as being range -extending. I think their idea is to get some licensing money at a level which is less than the cost of challenging the patent, or to get it bought out.

I wonder who bank-roll ed the heist.
    They’ll make a bun-dle, I bet.

Keens are comfortable and great for even long distance walking (I have fat feet).
    2 caveats:
They don’t seem to like tropical weather, I’ve had 2 pairs start to come apart after rough walks in very hot conditions. The bonding between layers gave way.
Get a size up to stop the stink: my 9s made my feet smell, size 10 didn’t.

I presume that’s a parasite – what the hell does it infect next?

Threee Chinooks with underslung Landies (I think) were messing around south of Swindon this afternoon, while I was on my longest XC ride for about 10 years, Streatley to Chippenham.

Pfft, CFH, don’t be so prescriptive.
We men of a certain age can wear when we like, and bleu de travail or its equivalent is a good option. Better than sludge brown chinos, anyway, which was your recent recommendation.
I’ve fumbled in enough boxes to know, thanks.

    What an excellent show.
Mainly road bikes I guess, but there is some wonderful craftmanship on display and some very quirky stuff.
It’s the first time I’ve seen Gevenalle CX shifters – they are very nice. (On the Rowan stand, deservedly best in show, but there is hardly any dross to see)

Peugeot 308SW does this – it’s got a fairly high roof line.
Coincidentally, I want to sell mine 😉

Yes, but that was in Jamaica last month. 🙂

My local outdoor swimming club in Bristol has a group of hardy women who’ve been swimming throughout the winter.

Leki twist locks seem to die after 3-4 years (I have a collection), so buy camlock poles. The Karrimor carbon poles are excellent and only £30 or so online.
Yes, poles help tremendously. They are supposed to increase your speed by 10%, if that’s important. Better still, they save your knees. I’m a convert.

    Have a look at this

But don’t buy just now, they can be got on sale at half the price.
I like mine, Hora recommends them.
Probably equivalent to a number 0, but easy to use and quick.

So far as I know, the Fishponds tunnel is still closed but a diversion is signposted.
However the fences preventing access to the tunnel have been modified so that adventurous cyclists can still use it when work is not in progress. (ie most of the time)

I’d love to see an annotated version of his novels. There are so many references and allusions to literature, mythology & current affairs within the books that I’m sure that I’m missing out on many of them

    No bikes at all.
But I went to a party where the cake had 180 candles.
Both my parents have just turned 90.
My brothers, their wives, exes and all our kids were there, it was life-affirming.

PS, thanks to the Pot & Glass in Egglescliffe for loooking after us so well.

Look at this, 10 yeas old but only 55k miles, not much more than the cost of a hire…
    Transit

£4k seems an awful lot for the easy option.
There is size of van between VW and coachbuilt which you should consider, the 6m long Transit / Ducato / Boxer/ Master type. They often have a double bed made up at the back (like ours) and can fit a bog and shower too.

I’ve tried gardening, don’t like it.

How about calling a mate & going out together, even if only for a quick bimble. Sometimes it needs someone else there to talk you through the lack of enthusiam.

Or even ask on here for a ride companion, meet someone new as well as recovering your mojo?

It’s becoming very ad hominem, rather than addressing the issues. Some of the posts make uncomfortable reading.

I’ve been using Marys for years, much of the usage on a rigid SS. I’ve not had any problems at all, nor have I heard of any.

An old Blue Dragon Kaffenback frame which has been hanging around for years. No-one wanted to buy it, so I’ll put some parts on it over the next few weeks. It’s likely to be a bit of a dog’s breakfast. My only other geared road bike , a Kona Sutra, is so heavy and unresponsive that I just can’t seem to enjoy riding it.

    It’s coincidence.
Unless your phone was inducing strange erotic dreams of Stephen Fry and olive oil. If that was the problem, tell us about them.

If you put a pair of pants into the washing machine, don’t you usually lose one and end up with a pant?

    I calls them knickers, anyway.
