@dissonance, {in the past} he’s had some interesting view points, but I think now he is fully engulfed in ‘fame’, he’s gone way off the reservation and definitely plays to a crowd. There’s so much he doesn’t speak about, many holes he leaves, maybe because the topic would be a tinderbox, who knows.

    He’s basically a soundbite machine.

    @mikesmith
, agreed, I’d like to hear view-point on that, to explore the links between parental abuse/alienation and the potential effects that has on children as they grow into adults. The little research i’ve done indicates there is a link between this and DV, again if people took this stuff seriously and didn’t fall into playing the gender politics game, maybe we could reduce the amount of trauma clueless rents mete out onto their children. OR at least take steps to manage it.

But I fear we’ll just continue the cycle of this kind of shitshow.

Awesome, loads of ‘rad’, ‘gnarly’ and ‘stoked’ all the while as she tries to not eat her own tongue.

Oosh! Posting a negative story about the middle-classes go to social standing benchmark…

    …what could go wrong?

Matt, that’s what I see in my AO. Pushing people to breaking point and beyond, then being surprised when they can’t cope and require help. It’s a bit perverse if i’m honest, glad i’m leaving.

First part from my OH, she used to work for a large Housing Association, which is a charity.

“My experience at an assessment centre was a lot of different activities testing different things – presenting, meeting people, psychometric tests, team based stuff…depends on focus of comms at charity but I imagine there will be something on digital media. They will probably be given a task to present something and asked about dealing with bad press….”

Got one coming from her sister who works for Macmillan and her former colleague who was head of comms at the housing association with her.

Edit; her sister has said the same thing.

I struggle with my alloy YT Capra, it’s right on the end at the front and still pulls when i wind the clamp. The guys suggestions above seem like a good idea, if I had carbon, I’d do it.

And this ban will do what exactly? Or is it just to give the politicos a shaft rub, so they think they did something useful?

World Ventures is one that I’ve had to contend with. Couple of people trying to sell it to the more junior reserve soldiers I manage. Total crock of shit.

The only thing I imagine you ever do at your keyboard is annoy people on here and jerk off constantly to fairly ‘specialist’ websites..

Tranny porn is not really specialist anymore…

I swear by my GoPro Session. Simple, but bloody effective. None of that voice activated rubbish, just press and go.

Agreed. Very, very overhyped. I’ve yet to see a decent new horror for a while. The ones I have watched were remakes. Rob Zombies’ take on Halloween was quite good.

You know what else would be a key weapon in helping people to quit? A **** tazer.

A quick zap every time they reach for a bine or their fruit-flavoured mouth dildo. If I wanted to walk through a cloud of fruit flavoured poor choices and spittle at the pub, I’d go to a **** LUSH store with a pint in hand when it’s rammed with single mums. Peace. ;)

Been using a Softie Elite for work now for a couple of years, used it in some pretty shitty conditions in shell-scrapes under basha, good bit of kit kept me warm, and when needed just sacled up with a liner.

In my opinion, there is almost always an alternative to punching someone in the way he did.

And in my experience, quite often there isn’t. Would you turn your back on a man with a weapon? A bottle? My younger years as a soldier I’d usually drink around these sorts; first time I turned my back to ignore one of these idiots, found myself in A&E with a head wound and a slight concussion.

Never did that again. Surprised the lad laying the boot in to the fella on the floor walked, that’s normally a no-no. Even with adjusted Queensbury rules.

Guess it depends on your preferred genres? Some damn good rock and metal bands around as well as the oldies who are still producing new hits and flawless performances.

Went to the Saturday gig at the O2, where their usual exceptional standard. Highlight was actually when KSE brought on Howard to sing ‘The End of Heartache’. That was pretty damn special.

    STWers,

I know right now that DoE is the furthest thing from @gnusmas and his sons mind, but i’m offering to coordinate to try and get as much kits as he could need together, so that when he feels ready to contemplate this, neither of them need worry about kit. We can do this in the background and get it all together.

I travel from Hampshire up to Yorkshire regularly so can arrange to meet, swing via places to pick kit up. Then when they’re ready get it dropped of and hopefully reduce any cost and more importantly stress to the absolute minimum.

Any pledges of donations of kit via PM or on here, we can arrange via PM/Email delivery pick-up, etc.

I’ll start with a military issue Carinthia Sleeping bag, foam sleeping mat and a Coleman two man tent. Oh and all the rations a man could eat!

The dead man was a career criminal, if you make a life out of visiting misery on others, eventually it’ll unravel and you’ll end up getting attacked by a homeowner.

Kinda feel for his family if they’re good people, if they’re of the same ilk then I couldn’t care less.

Just a shame an old man had to suffer like this and most likely carry it with him. That’s who I feel sorry for in all this.

It’ll certainly do harm. And not just to Labour. Because as well as real concerns, every dog crying wolf and every hysterical headline reduces awareness and reaction to the real thing. Just as the last decade’s overt islamophobia and other minority bashing has given racists and xenophobes of all straws more confidence to stand and be seen.

Antisemitism’s on the rise here as it is elsewhere, as are many other isms, and while i can see why it’s tempting for people to use it as a crude weapon to attack their opponents, it’s shortsighted and stupid and self-harming. If current trends continue we could be looking at real trouble- and this won’t just have desensitised people to it, it’ll have alienated people who would have fought it. Because who do you look to, to oppose racism and religious hatred? The right? Aye, that’ll work. This is when you build alliances and understanding, not attack your neighbours.

The one thing I will never understand is why so many people who rightly oppose antisemitism are so comfortable with other forms of xenophobia and intolerance. It’s all literally the same thing. People transfer their hatred so easily, it’s not that important who you hate. Not allowed to hate blacks? Well islam isn’t a race so I’ll hate muslims. Not allowed to hate gays? Well I’ll hate trans people. Or gippos, or chavs, or jews, or lefties, or fatties, or cyclists.Or the rich, or the elites, it all adds up the same, just that some people have more defences than others.

Hate is literally all one big bucket of poison, unfussed about where it leaks, and wherever it spills it makes more. If you can keep it in the tank, it goes off- but it’s oh so useful to use a little poison to win an argument, or an election… Carthago delenda est! Take back control! But oh! Now there’s poison flooding around something I care about, how did that happen?

If you genuinely want to counter antisemitism, counter all racism, counter every damn ism you can. Or if you can’t do that, at least stop adding to the bucket. Sermon over and if you didn’t know it all already you’re an idiot, but it’s easy to know in the head, it’s not so easy to know in the heart

    Quoted for awesome.

Nice! I was at Wattisham from ’03 to ’13, MK7 then AH.

But too busy collecting Kellogg’s tokens to be flying around!

    @piesoup

I was there from ’03 to ’06 on the ground, then went rearcrew, Herrick ’07 then up to XD after that, stayed there until it closed. Now at MW. Stopped flying 2012.

Ashy – that website is AMAZING! See the same kind of thing for civil flights before, but not military!

Just popped my head out of the back door to listen to a couple of C130s on their way back from the Lakes loop.

Flying that route, over Windermere. That was the one I enjoyed the most.

Apaches used to be based in Dishforth, N Yorks. Now Middle Wallop.

RAF Leeming issued a local flier pre-warning of round the clock helicopter activity in support of exercises this week and next. It’ll be that.

Apaches have always been at Middle Wallop. The operational cabs moved with their squadrons from Dishforth to Wattisham, circa 2006/2007.
