Thanks loads for the donations. You all still continue to be mint!
She’s like her mum. She only has to see cash and it becomes hers. No chance of getting it back.

Bugger! I had to pay my 14 years old permanently sulky daughter £5 to write yours out mate!
Can I take this opportunity to also thank ‘Elf’ for the very generous email offer of a night at his -ooer’ etc.

    Thank you Si 🙂
Can I take this opportunity to say thank you to everybody who has donated (tickets for the draw are allocated each day and I’ll let you all know your numbers – IHN has 85 of the buggers!), donated a prize, sent best wishes, offered cake, offered a bed for the night, paid for a bed for the night….I bet you’re all bored of me saying it but I stop and look and it’s humbling.
11 weeks until the off, 1 week into raising cash and already almost at £500!
    Thanks everyone, you’re all mint!

Fella’s. Thank you very much indeed. Crikey has shelled out for a room for me but won’t let me contribute.
    Fantastic generosity. Thank you.

    Astonishingly generous!
Back to the original post though. I only thought of it last Monday sat at work. Just do stuff. I went past the scene where a cyclist died today. Just do stuff.

Knock me down and pick me up again! You fella’s! I’m struggling to think what to say! Thank you so much! Once again, I’m humbled…..
My wife is close to tears here.
I’m sorry I’ve been AWOL for a little while. My boss caught me on the Internet again and then a 30 mile commute home/training ride.
What a fantastically generous offer but it wouldn’t be right to take your cash for my own comfort.
I’ll get on the web and book one of the rooms myself, sharpish! I don’t know London at all. It’s like teaching a baby to read all this. I’m so amatuer, I didn’t even think how I was going to get there when I dreamed this nonsense up last week.
If you really want to chuck a £1 or two at something (and fingers crossed get some something nice as a prize – I’m hoping for a pink Rapha t-shirt next for the prize fund but don’t tell anyone) and you’ll probably be more than aware of it by now (sorry), the donation website is in my profile.
Thanks fella’s and ladies for the offer of paying for a room, sub letting your brothers lounge to a bipolar fruit cake and for just doing this stuff! Truly immense. Thank you

Thanks for your help guys. As near as possible to the Olympics would be great. It’s a long way home so the less pedalling to get there the better.

8:12 is way to late though mate. If it’s going take 13 hours, I’d like to be away for 6;30 at the very latest.
I’ll have a look at the route through London Ro5ey

Thank you Voodoo, very generous. If your tickets win something, I’ll let you know and if you are determined not to have it, I’ll either donate the item to the hospice or Ebay it and add the selling price to the fund.

edit. just seen your donation as well Voodoo. Thank you loads. I’ll also get your big prize draw tickets emailed to you.
    Thanks everyone

I suppose it’s inevitable but yet more sad news from St. Ann’s this morning.
I’m bewildered how they make such a sad place so very special and often full of laughter. I’m humbled. Sorry. I’m going for a ride for a bit.

That would be fantastic, thank you. I’ve barely even thought about the route as yet.

I’m really not getting in with SIS energy powder drink mix. Nuun hydration is OK but I need to find some carb food that’s easy to carry and digest. I’ll give Torq a go but I can’t have gels near me. Euuugh, worse than pasta!
I’m fed up of bannana’s. Fruit Pastilles are OK for an occasional treat.
I’ve just thought about gels again. I’m going to bin my dinner. It’s put me right off.

Thanks for all the comments. Plenty to think about and some impressive rides have been completed.

I’d say I’m not really sure of the route but to be fair……haven’t got a sodding clue, especially out of London, is the truth of it so any help would be gratefully accepted, thanks very much Amit.

Thanks for the replies. I’m going to say 14 hours and either get there come hell or high water or hide round the corner until it’s time to finish.
If anybody feels like joining in for some or all of it, it’s on the 14th July.

Thanks for the replies. I’m doing London to Manchester on my own. There’s a thread knocking about but I’m not going to spam the forum (but have a peep if you like….please).
I only ask as I had a look at the Bike Hub app. on my wife’s iphone and it gave a route of just over 200 miles Olympic Velodrome to Manchester Velodrome, adv. speed 16mph but reckoned on 17 hours!
I thought I was missing something apart from the math being wrong. That should be about 13 mph?
Good luck on your own rides and well done if you’ve done them already.
I know what you mean about the quicker start but I have something of a welcoming party waiting for me at Manchester which is getting bigger by the minute it would seem so I kind of have to be as near as I can to an arrival time.

Finally got Facebook working. Please be my friend (and that really is as sad as it sounds) and thank you to those who already have. It gets the ride and donating page out there a bit more if nothing else,

Hoops! You’re as barking as I am!
Thank you very much Jane. Let me know what time you’re home and I’ll make arrangements although Saturday is a big ride day (I better get started) and Sunday afternoon / evening I have to take Emily to Liverpool Echo Arena. Young Money Cash Money’s finest : Drake.
    She can barely sleep 🙂
Your bag is generating quite an interest here at work and I’ve put your emmyjanedesigns blog thingy on the Just Giving site. Everybody is waiting for payday. I think I need to rethink the target amount.

    OH-MY-VERY-WORD…..ELFIN!!! You GEEZER!!!!!!!

I have to confess, Elf and I had a crossing of swords. I was horrible to him, I was being a superior eejit. NO excuses about not being well….I was mean.

The very man has done a donation and is maybe coming to see me at the start! (Please don’t chin me. I’ll have a lot of peddaling to do with a busted jaw).

The penny has only just dropped who I’ve been chatting with via email. Thank you very much Sir. Hugs and kisses and tickets allocated.

More goodies to be added to the prize draw later this week, Bike related and lovely.

Anybody else feeling kind enough to donate a £1 or more?

Thank you also for those on here who have accepted me as friend on Facebook. It’s great having friends :-). Please feel absolutley free to chuck my Facebook and Twitter thing around. I have no idea how to do it all. I’m brand new to social media.

That would be immense Jane, thank you! I’m well chuffed!
I’ll be around your parts over the weekend if that’s any good? I need to drop Jules tickets in as well.
Thanks to everybody who have sponsored me so far. Over £100 already and it only started today.
To everybody who has sent some money from here but haven’t emailed contact details, I’ve written up tickets for you in your on screen names with (STW) as well and I’ll post up the winners name(s) on this thread and email to your profiles. Chief Exec at the hospice is doing the draw so it’ll all be proper 🙂
I’m doing my best to ignore Hoops but he makes it hard 🙂
That’s really generous of you Ro5ey, thank you and again, thank you to all who have sponsored me so far.

Thanks loads Mint and Andrew. It’s really appreciated. If you could just chuck a telephone number or address or something to stannsbigbikeride@gmail.com I can text or post ticket numbers to you both. You’re in it so you could win it as they say 🙂

Thank you Jane. it’s very much appreciated. Desperate times call for desperate measures. They’re under the cosh financially and the only thing I’m any good at is pedalling.
I volunteered to help on the wards. I’m sure she (you know who) had a little heart attack at the prospect.
I don’t mind who the captian is as long as the stoker (me) can go to sleep 🙂
If anybody else coud find just a £1…it’d be greatly appreciated and you could win a TV. More prizes to come, No doubt bike related.
St. Ann’s (and all the hospices) do an amazing job and it riles me greatly that they are charities.
Currently have a 24 year old single mum in for instance. 2 year old daughter with no other family is spending nights at one of the staff nurses homes!
    It humbles me………..

Thank you sir! The first donater is STW’er! Makes me proud! :-). I’ll get some raffle tickets on the way Mr, thank you very much.
I’ll be publishing the route on the blog with expected timings. It’d be ace to see some of you along the way.
In fact NBT, if you could oblige with the tandem somewhere north of Stoke?…..

Excellent stuff the flatboy:-). Now, where’s your quid?

Ha! Things are moving already. I only thought of this this morning.
I’m doing it from Manchester velodrome to Olympic velodrome, 14th July.
each £1 sponsorship gets a ticket to win a digital TV/DVD combination and if I don’t do it, every sponsor gets their £1 back and the raffle still goes ahead.
St Ann’s (http://www.sah.org.uk/) are going to do some promotional work.
A blog and Just Giving website should be going up tonight but I promise not to blanket spam everybody.
Fingers crossed I don’t go off on one and bankrupt the family.
Not sure what my psychiatrist is going to say, I may get myself sectioned :-).
What about those tracking devices? How do I get one of those?

“Start: Head south on Loonies Ct…….”
    You couldn’t make this up.
Thank you. I’ll be back with a web page and blog. I’m going to suggest a sponsorship of £1.
Any ideas what else I can do to make it more attractive so more people will give £1? I’m thinking a raffle. £1 ticket is sponsorship and entry into a raffle.
    Any good?
Sorry, my mind is racing at the moment.

Edinburgh Bikes are advertising for a bike builder. Less than £7 per hour according to their website. I think they’re also advertising for a mechanic. I think 30 hours was advertised as being about £13.5k.
Bloodyshins. Yes please and I’ll pass the info on. Thank you.
No email in your profile but if you could send it to me at steve.monks@gmail.com I’d be very grateful.
