    Thanks.

    I’ll review my ethics policy.

What if I don’t have win 7 or 8 to upgrade from?

The laptop I want it for is currently running Vista!

Anti bacterial condioner, Wilko / dettol works well. No more slightly pissy/musty smell

Indistinguishable from stock bushings in terms of smoothness, a lot less fore/aft play, but that’s comparing it to the worn condition.

    They look good,

I’ve just ordered this to cut some more up:

“For the top cap, if you use a small enough screwdriver and a big enough hammer, the bushing will tap out easily. “

Yeah, due to it being a split bush, I reckon getting a thin screwdriver under one of the ends and levering it out would also work.

Thanks Neil. Trying to cover my costs, IGUS’s savage postage costs and my hourly rate.. £10 for both bushes? Are you still in Exeter? Hope all is well, cheers Mike

I work in Southernhay, just across from Princesshay and we’ve had 2 bikes nicked from our basement area, both locked up.
Both times the cameras in the area didn’t pick up anything, although not sure what use they would be if they did.

I noticed this on my one45 when building it up, duct tape seems to have done the job. Only a couple of mm between the chain and seatstay.

Turbo boost hose/pipe popped off somewhere probably.

Check hose connections from turbo, intercooler and inlet manifold

All these connections (will be similar for all tdis):

Oh and I got mine for £50 including an electric burr grinder from someone who was “upgrading” to a Tassimo

    What Jimjam says,

Good mix of not using stupid pods and retaining a bit of a Barista feel..

Results are fine for my current level of coffee wkrness

I have the EC680. Whilst I like its ease of use and grind my beans etc, it isn’t really a “proper” espresso machine

It generates pressure by using a tiny discharge hole in the porta filter, and the crema is a result of high pressure coffee hitting the basket.

I believe proper machines generate pressure by the coffee being properly tamped and the crema is a result of this and some other stuff that I don’t really know about.

Recent trip to France I downloaded the TOMTOM app onto my iPhone. £17/yr and all maps of France/Europe etc are free to download if you need them.

Worked very well, only issue may be if you have enough space on your smartphone (at least a few gig I think) or if you even have a smartphone..

Indeed. Bought by 3 para military looking polish guys, said it was probably destined to be exported once fixed.

    So…

Audi put on ebay, 1 day later and some chap came and picked it up and gave me £900.

Mate also waived the fee for the 806 (actually a Citroen Synergie), instead I have to help him lay a lawn.. wish I just paid him tbh.

Anyway, had a go at fixing the Synergie today – replaced the thermostat.

Hasn’t seem to have made a difference, still loses water from the expansion tank cap.

    Symptoms/observations:

No oil in coolant, radiator hose hot incoming and slightly cooler on outlet as expected. No apparent scum on filler cap – although it’s more of a flexible filler tube.

Drives very well, engine sounds nice and turbo seems to pull as expected.

Any ideas? Water pump? Surely an issue with the head gasket/head would show some other symptoms?

Engine was definitely still running when the brakes went hard.

    Thanks,

Sounds like the Audi on eBay, and take a punt on the Pug.

Interesting ref. the turbo/vac, that bit was confusing me, thanks.

I was considering spannering it myself, but now the cost of a turbo needs to be factored in, I’m not sure I can be @rsed.

    Ebay it is..

A third option has presented itself (from same mate), his GF’s 07plate Fiesta, holed radiator which he replaced, now the system won’t hold pressure and he’s lost interest – £80

    This is all very exciting.

    1. Oil & filter changed every 20k until I got it, then changed every 10k by me. Oil level is fine.

    2. Mate has been running the pug like this for the past 6 months (seriously), oil looks fine and no mayo on the oil filler cap.

Ha, yeah, first proper new bike since 2008, I’m not used to this level of excitement.

Haldon again today due to weather and time constraints,

Forks of doom were fine in the the mud, no scraping etc.

Even though it was wet I was nearly as fast as I was in the dry (and fitter) on the Tracer, the only difference was I didn’t feel like I was pushing my ability to the limit with this bike – had one near off, which I’m convinced would have been an actual off on the Tracer.

So far feels like a bike that I’ll be able to get faster on the more I ride it.

I didn’t try, I sent my dims to bird, which is 5ft8 with an inside leg of approx. 31″.

They recommended a ML run with a short (35mm) stem.

I’m using a 125mm reverb “slammed” which is the perfect height for me.

32 oval chainring with 11-42 10spd. When this stuff wears out I’m going to either go 34 oval with a 11-46 sunrace or 32 oval with a 10-42 sram

Forks will either be pikes, lyriks or X-fusion Sweeps. Whatever’s out there at the time

Yeah, it’ll be ok in the dry but will get some 650b forks soon.

The mudhugger (cut out at the middle) seems to do a good job of funnelling stones/mud through the arch, only noticed a couple of bits of stone interference on some fairly loose tracks

175mm tyre to crown, 170mm available travel on stanchion.

Couldnt get anymore than 160mm travel out of it with the spring out, last 10mm might be a rubber bumper, can’t remember the internals setup.

    Should be fine…

1mm at the brace, I haven’t checked the crown clearance yet, but the internet told me it wasn’t a problem… will go and check properly now I think!

    NYD = New Year Day.

I think the fact it was still running when I turned it off probably saved the engine. The belt looked like it was about to fall off the top cam gear thing when the AA man undid the belt cover, so I think I was seconds away from total disaster…

    And the answer is…

    Cause:
Tensioner stud pulled out of engine block (probably due to 3rd or 4th timing belt going on the car (216,000miles)

    Damage:
Garage said engine seems fine, start, runs and revs well. Compression good, no smoke etc.

    Resolution:
Helicoil engine block for to fit new tensioner stud.
    New timing belt and tensioner

    Cost:
Missing NYD blast around local loop.

Losing Maxle on my Lyrics in the transfer of bike between various cars during the recovery process.

    Hence “guess the damage”.

Hopefully there won’t be any significant cost for me.

Indeed, saving £200 by going to an independent seemed like a good idea at the time.

Phoned garage today (albeit fairly late), the owner was out but didn’t return my call.

I imagine he was busy sourcing me a brand new engine, or maybe even a new car. Probably the 3.0tdi s-line Quattro.
