My money would be on that stealth black Canyon Spectral ?
Great spec for the money, and looks frickin awesome!

Also, search for the recent thread on Canyon being circa 15% cheaper when bought in Euros on the continent due to current exchange rates. Either someone you know in Europe or a cheap easyjet could save you a few hundred quid!

Recently been looking for decent padding too:
    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/which-padded-shortsliners-do-you-use-and-would-you-recommend-them

Bought some of the Gore bibs – seem excellent quality but admittedly haven’t used them yet!
Evans had the shorts version on for cheap also in the sale.

Thanks all – Gore bibs ordered…
Currently 40% off at Evans with extra 10% off today. Result!

? I agree – the Endura shorts are great but the liners aren’t too good and their sizing is definitely on the small side.
Never thought of bibs for mtb! Will have to have a better look.

    Keep the recommendations coming…

OP – do you have a link to where you are buying the frame? I’m liking the look of it…

I reckon the white looks best, but loving the Norco – especially the colour breaks lining through across the frame and forks.

After similar thoughts of a first full susser I bought an Anthem last year. Having rode only hardtails for decades, I thought FS was for sissys. Oh, how wrong…. The trail hardtail is about to be sold for a longer travel bike!
I can thoroughly recommend the switch from hardtail to an Anthem X – feels a lot more capable than a similar 100mm xc hardtail does, doesn’t bob about on the climbs and very surprised how much less fatigue I feel on longer rides. You can get them cheap as chips in 26er form too.

There is no such thing as a cheap left hooker in the UK anymore due to that exact reason

A long list of things I won’t admit to on a public forum, but….
Driving over my own leg on honda atc 200 trike was highly amusing to all spectators!

I think its a very nice idea – hopefully it will be a genuine outlet for innovation with regular updates, and hopefully not just a token USP for a small non changing line up.

Having owned several of Brant’s prevous designed frames, (I know like most of us on here) I’ll be interested to see how it the process will work. Both On One and Ragley had/have some great frames but rightly or wrongly have publically let down by customer service or paint finish/quality control – both a result of ‘stack em high sell em cheap’ – not the actual design. Hopefully a more bespoke, limited run product will not have the same issues to contend with.

And nice to have a bike company back in Hebden – Just a shame you already used the Stoodley Pike logo!

Best of luck with it Brant.

    Hi there,
As said above, if you are trying to improve your abilities on the downs, I would suggest a slacker head angle and 120 – 140mm forks. In my opinion, it makes a much more fun bike all round which is still good on the climbs. Racier XC bikes will inevitably feel more tentative on steeper trails with ‘head down, arse up’, over the front wheel positioning.
I’m guessing you live in Hebden? Blazing saddles will give you a test ride – although they will charge you, they will knock it off the cost of the bike.
Personally, I’d be looking at an On One 45650b or something like – and they do C2W too. You may even be able to persude a certain Hebden based designer to give you a tester.
If you want to try my Ragley Blue Pig down the, er, Blue Pig one evening give me a shout.
Of course if you want second hand….

Not used their chop saw, but I have an Evolution plaster whisk, and i’m pleasantly suprised how good it is for the money. They have a seconds/graded outlet on fleabay as well as Amazon – worth a look.

Have you looked at the cost of grey raluminium frames? They may not be just as expensive as you think…
    By far a better product.

On One Whippet – great frame, definately if your looking for a light, fast, 26er frame with racey geometry.

(Shameless plug: I’m toying with selling an 18″ with 120mm SID RLT ti’s?)

    Blue Pig X here too.
Seems to have disapeared from fashion recently, but I find it confidence inspiring on the downs, whilst ideally suited to my ‘plodding’ on the ups.
Great bike – and can be found fairly cheaply s/hand.

Grum – I wouldn’t worry too much. I’ve lived here all my life and it is only in the last couple of years I have refered to North Well as the ‘Blue pig’! I haven’t a clue what most of them are called this week, but I’ve probably ridden them…

If everyone else in the street know one person to come in the middle of the day and park up for a day or so (assuming there are spaces during working hours) it would prove a point if nothing else…

We have increasingly problematic parking in our road. With most houses not having off street parking, the expensive solution is to put in a drive and drop kerb, providing a ‘visitor space’ blocking you in.

Camelbak Lobo. Good balance of small, slim size but enough pockets to pack in everything I need.

I struggled to find this too.
You need to ring 2pure direct. Eventually, you’ll get put through to the warranty guy who will happily post you out a service kit for a tenner (which will consist of top and bottom bushes and the guide blocks) They won’t sell you a full re-build kit though, however they will do a full rebuild/fluids etc for 40 quid if you post it to them.
    Hope this helps.

EDIT: if you search around google, there is a pdf rebuild guide online

Blazing saddles do a night ride (Tuesday I think). I suggest you bob in and ask for a few directions before setting off on a ride and they’ll point you in the right direction.

(Oh – not to put you off, but Good look with the weather! – the Tod/Hebden road was filling up nicely tonight!)

    Hi all,
Tuesday was the first night ride of the year for me. I treated myself to an X2 for the bars and a T6 for the helmet from fleabay – Really impressed for the money, can’t go wrong for the price.
The only thing – I should have bought an X2 for the helmet too for the little extra. The unit is lighter and smaller than the T6, with the better, wider beam.

More familiar with Trocal over Sarnafil, but they are both decent products and now both owned by Sika. They need to be layed by someone who knows what they are doing, but will outlast and out perform any old style 3 layer built up felt.
It will probably cost you more, as your average joe roofer may not be the ideal candidate to fit it.
If its not going on for long and is only temp, felt may do your job. Get several quotes, and ‘google is your friend’… It pays to know what you are getting quotes for as there are many diffrent systems which may have far superior warranties etc than others.
