Which padded shorts/liners do you use and would you recommend them?

Can anyone recommend some decent padded shorts?

I’m sick of cheap ones which offer little padding, had some endura click fix things which fell in bits and looking to try something new. Any real life recommendations folks?

Might look a bit roadie when getting changed in a car park but comfy rides all day long

Bib shorts, Endura FS260’s are great.

Bibs under baggies, although I find the endura liners that come with Humvees are OK for shorter rides.

I’m not impressed with Endura liners and I’m tired of playing ‘howmany inches was this size today’ when buying them.

I love Spesh liners and their old corded waist trail shorts, but they can’t make a fastening short to save their life and they’re stupid expensive in the UK.

Altura pro gel and shorts are OK, sizing is predictable and the three pop fastener works.

Mostly since Autumn though, I’ve been wearing Planet X 360 bib knickers (3/4) under shorts of some sort, currently RF Canucks, which I wish the shop selling them crazy cheap had had more of as they’re my new favourite baggy. The PX bibs are their CXy ‘Flanders Inspired’ ones, the pad feels odd at first as it’s shorter and wider than most, but it really really works well for all day.

? I agree – the Endura shorts are great but the liners aren’t too good and their sizing is definitely on the small side.
Never thought of bibs for mtb! Will have to have a better look.

I wore a set of Gore 3/4s for a week, washing them once, on a race, and they kept my arse peachy and my legs devoid of lactic acid. They’re falling apart now though after multiple falls etc, but I’ll be replacing them with the same as they’re really good.

Really like Specialised bibs under baggies, didn’t get on with Endura from years ago but have some new MT500s that fit really well

Decathlon 700 or 900 series. Cheap ish, comfortable and wear well too.

Another vote for DHB or Gore bibs from me.

And yes – what is with Endura’s sizing? Sometimes I’ve put small liners in medium shorts.

I have a boney arse and love the Endura FS260 Pro. And size up if you get a pair.

dhb, but not the real low-end ones. Go for a step or two up.

Lusso are good. I’ve got some of their carbon bib shorts (I think that’s what they are called) and they are very comfy, but were over twice the price of the dhb.

I have tried loads of different solutions to this problem and have come to these conclusions – dhb not bad but soon lose padding effect, even expensive ones. Gore excellent but mine didn’t last long. Sombrio and older Ground Effect too thin.
Mavic good shape on pad but too thin, more expensive ones better. Endura mtb pads not comfy, Road pads good but a bit bulky.
So my current favourites are the top line Decathlon and the Sugoi. The Sugoi in particular as not only do they have an excellent pad but the short is mainly mesh so you don’t get too sweaty under tights in the winter.

Zipvit bibs. Cheap @ £35 or less. Top quality. Minimal seams and no grippers at bottom of legs so don’t catch on shorts. Look gash but they’re under baggies.

Highly rate Endura Singletrack baggies but the clip in shirts are useless.

I’ve been through may variations of liners – best I found were Sugoi RS liners.
Then I took a punt on a couple of pairs of these –

They are simply perfect for my arse! Lightweight lycra means they’re great under baggies.

I would nt bother with liners go for some normal cycle shorts under baggies.

Ie DHB off wiggle.
Then for baggies I’d reckonmend Endura one.

This. Don’t really understand why you’d want them clipped in (on the Endura ones) either- how would you get them in the right place?

I’ve got some Altura ProGels I use under mine, lasted a long time, relatively inexpensive. If it’s going to be a longer day I just use the bibshorts I’d use on the road.

I picked some up in decathlon which also had additional hip/outer leg padding for those who occasionally fall off. Price was very good considering what this type of short costs from the main brands.

I find the endura ones last about 18months before the padding starts to tear away from the shorts at the back. I suppose that’s a reasonable life.

Am I the only one who doesn’t bother with liners or padded shorts? I must have cheeks of leather…………..
