Defo boiling. Just trying to power through and hope for the best until I can either pick up some vinegar or bicarb. We have one of those crappie water taps at work too. It’s saving grace is that it is so unreliable we normally have a kettle out too.

It’s a stainless steel Russell Hobbs Cambridge. Fairly cheap but it only has to boil water. How hard could that be?!

The reason not to add formula to warm (not hot) water is because of the bugs that can grow in the powder. It is specifically designed to be high in nutrients which is also ideal breading area for bacteria especially when moisture is introduced (such as from condensation on the powder scoop from when you have tipped the power into the steaming water). Adding the power to hot water does a better job of killing any nasties. I am not really one for going overboard on germ killing but tummy bugs with babies are not fun. Days and days (and nights) of explosions from both ends can get tiring pretty quickly.

May take the teabags and a mug and see if they will let me test them out before swapping

Might have a look into the vinegar thing although do wonder if it will make the tea taste like a chip shop. Is that a bad thing?…

My girls school encourages us to upload stuff onto a kind of blog that they manage. Each week the teachers probably upload 2 or 3 photos and comments on what she has been doing each week.

Yep. Done that. Has been getting on for a week now :(

WTF? Have I read this wrong? Why are you waking her?

When newborn, we were certainly told both times not to just let them sleep, and feed them at regular intervals so would sometimes need to wake them[/quote]

Mine are 2 and 5 and we weren’t told to do this. My wife is the kind to read up on everything we should/should not be doing as well. I am not about to tell anyone to go against what their doctor/midwife/health visitor has told them but we definitely weren’t. Having said that ours probably woke that often in any case.

I have had two kids btw. One Bf, one bottle. BF, despite throwing up some challenges along the way, particularly at the beginning, was ultimately far, far easier. Not cheaper though as my wife used it as an excuse to buy load of BF specific clothing.

I only wake her when she’s ready and try not to interact too much.

WTF? Have I read this wrong? Why are you waking her? Unless you have been told of a specific medical reason you need to do this then let the girl sleep! She will let you know when she is ready.

Might be quite a nice change. Trouble with shooters going to the future means increasing instances of dieing without ever having a chance to see who shot you. Going back a century instead may actually lead to some better action. Read a quote somewhere once to the effect that humans had got so good at war they found that they couldn’t have anymore. Think shooters kind of reached this so hopefully this will rekindle my love of them.

I would never buy anything made by Bush. One of their Tvs almost burned my house down. Was not impressed.

There’s a club at Perry Hall Park in Birmingham that are trying to get some more riders to join in. Think I may take a look.

if budget is a consideration then i’d suggest riding the bike you didn’t sell and ignore the bike press and websites like this one.

Kind of, but things have moved on significantly. I too was away from cycling for some time (15 years) and when I started again it was on a bike I owned from that time (Specialized Hardrock Pro). Cos I wanted a new toy I replaced it with a Bird and the difference was amazing. Quite difficult to express how much better a modern geo and components are now compared to 1999.

Think I have the exact same issue coming up but with deore. My reverb hasn’t arrived yet – was hoping if I slid the shifter to the extreme side I would be able to squeeze the rever remote in. Assuming now that this isn’t going to work…

Superstar Nano X all the way. I would wince every time I smashed a pedal into a rock with anything more expensive than those.

If it was mdf, chipboard or veneer I would be worried but think hardwood (snigger) could look after itself. I Am Not A Carpenter.

I should be getting a secondhand 20″ islabike tomorrow for my 5 year old. Was really tempted by the frog 52 but the minimum standover height was much bigger than the (small) bienn 20.

Just clicked into Pauls for a quick browse. The first bike on there is a Giant Tempt with “Tektro HDC 290 Women’s Specific hydraulic disc”. What on earth can be female specific about a disk brake?

It is great though. Not ridden the others but I would think the Bird would be worth the wait. Or a different colour.
