The shading variance suggest that there is protective tape on all but the par where the head tube joins the frame. My money is the line you can see is a dirt line at the edge of the protective tape. As has been said you should be easily be able to feel this with a finger nail.

As with anything like this if you have any doubts take it back to where you got it and ask then to check it.

Just remember to check the tyre pressures on the car and that they are correct for a full laden fiesta. As Sweaman say just be careful on the corners. You do not want you cherished bikes deposited round some bend.

Ridelines in the Tweed Valley. They are up at GT on a regular basis.

Boot mounted is probably going to rely on the rear window in some way to support/take some of the load. That will be a factor in the weight limit of the carrier.

What about taking wheels off the bikes, assuming the frame mounts on the rack. Will that give you what you need and will the wheels fit in boot etc with all the gear?

I have taken my bike into travelodges and similar on numerous occasions and not had an issue. It was in a bag though so that would be my advice. If you do not have a bag for the others could you knock something up with a small sheet of tarpaulin? Better yet call them up and see what they say, you may get a room more suitable for getting a bike into, not having to get it in the lift etc.

I have had a Heckler out in the Alps and it was a good ride. Money permitting I would upgrade the Pikes to Lyriks for next trip. It will be even more fun then. 🙂

Edit: Just to add that the Heckler is my ride every day bike.

You can buy a water resist copy of the map when you get there for £2.

I have Saints on my Heckler and these are excellent but these are overkill for your needs. I would suggest some SLX brakes or if you want posh then XT/XTR.

Nice one TJ. I guess if you want more air then you will need more speed, best have a word with the stoker 😆

Not the best birthday present to get hurt like that. Mind you with a ride in the helicopter it will be one he will remember. Hopefully he mends quickly and gets back out on the bike soon.

Real shame to hear of this loss. Heart felt condolences to family and friends.

I am not familiar with the section of road but I would have to ask was this after a bend or similar so that the driver could not see far enough up the road. If you come round a bend, get blinded by a low sun then this could happen. Not sure it should happen on a clear road though as you will get moments of vision so that you can see what is ahead.

If you are driving along at say 50mph and you become blinded by the sun you do not do an emergency stop, it would not be safe to do so. I would expect you to slow down as you try to get clear sight of what is in the road in front of you. You should have a good idea as to what was in front of you and roughly when you would expect to reach it before you were dazzled.

Given that this is the A40 at rush hour I would kind of expect there to be a fairly steady stream of traffic. Further up the traffic I would expect to see cars braking and then pulling out to pass the cyclist. This should have been sufficient warning I would have thought. But how many are looking that far up the road when driving??

Have and use both. GT85 has a bit of Teflon in it but not enough to be considered a lubricant IMO. Neither is a chain lube but I am sure there are those that use it as such.

£25 for them to have a look at you. I would thought that would have been free being NHS, unless it is a private place. Mind you I reckon that you are right thay will ship you off to A&E once they have fleeced you.

Did you tell to get on their bike? 😀

Even more reason to report it I reckon so hopefully it gets looked into and correctly marked up.

You should report this as you have been injured. I would suggest you get the foot checked to be sure, better safe than sorry. Heal quickly 😉

I have not ridden Glentrool but reckon Glentress fits the bill. Steady climb up from the Peel centre if fit for it if not the park at Buzzards and try the Green. If you want more techy then move up to the blue and so on.

Where was the first ride out that she did not like so we know what to avoid.

It will get much worse on it so let it go. Hellitape it BEFORE you take it out is the best advice. Mind you even when you do sods laws says you miss a bit.

Shere drop, nice pint that is.

I also ask why but take solace that it is a small world and justice will be done.

Good luck on getting it sorted. Nowhere near to me though so I can only support from afar.

Good news that you seem to have sorted it. You imply that there are links in your posts. I do not see them just as a heads up.

I know someone who is north of 70 and still rides regular. If I get that far I will be happy. At least I know that it can be done :-).

I have been running HR single ply wire bead 2.35’s for years now as tubeless on Bonty TLR wheelset. Never had any issues with them. I just fit them and they only get changed when they are worn out or I rip the tyre wall in Morzine.

The only TLC that they need is a top up of sealant every now and then.

As with Duffer that are my all year tyre.

Wire bead is fine. If you are a real weight weenie then folder may be worth it.

B tension sounds favourite. Not sure but chain length may be an issue so worth checking.

    Something for breakfast then..

How do you clean and cook a squirrel?

Agree with keeping the gas cannister warm or you will not be cooking much in the morning. If you can keep it off the cold ground when cooking that will help as well.

It only works properly if it is fitted properly.

I have also heard that if you have a neck brace on then you also need to have your helmet on as well. I think that the local events will disqualify you if seen not doing so.

I think he is still feathering the brakes… 🙂

Yep that is why mine go on every ride. Sods law and all that, they can’t protect your knees in the boot of the car 😥 .

Exactly, delivery was the normal few days. As I said I have had them in the Alps for two trips and they were fine there. Set and a bit used each week. They are all I use when at home as well. Never tried SS so cant comment as to how they compare.

Good news to see that you are on the mend. Well done to Mrs Coops as well. Those foil blankets are very small, and cheap and so very effective.

You can normally get the plat out from within the shoe after you have lifted out the insole. PITA if you can’t do that. The only thing that comes to mind is to drill it and the see if you can get a screwout into it.
