Thanks for all the help so far. The wife is 5’3″.

The main issue I will have potentially is getting her over that initial feeling you get when you get on a new bike and it doesn’t feel right.

I think we need a demo and not just a sit on in a bike shop.

Thanks guys, yep I agree, just need to get her on a few more bikes. I think that we have not found the right small frame for her to try yet.

The initial sit on the bike can be immediately off putting when the bars are 800m after being used to a short top tube and narrow bars, plus all the new bikes we are looking at are a lot slacker and more travel, which can make it feel quite alien after: http://www.2012.cuberussia.ru/models-access_wls_pro/

I do believe the bike you are looking for is an Orange Crush.

I was after something similar but did not want to spend the earth in case I did not like it.

Stay away from anything “technical” or “cycle”. Got one of these from the local Tog 24 outlet for £10, its fab and pretty water proof.

In true recommend what you have got, I have an upgraded Crush with Hope E4’s 203 and 180’s which is complete over kill but i’m fat and I like them so…

In all honesty, my XT’s on my old Scott Scale were not a patch on these. the feel and adjustability is fantastic and they really work!! Plus they look mint :)

I need some slow company for my first Peak ride! Also directional assistance would certainly help.

    Looking forward to these.

MTB batteries are looking good at the minute but have the OK for Exposure. But… £450 for two lights!

There are not many 2016’s out there and the next batch is not due till April – I’ve ordered one.

As for the paint, I’ve heard that the standard overseas paint job isn’t great. Just upgrade to one of the powder coated finishes and ask your bike shop to negotiate it for free. Or pay the £70 and get it invisiframed. Plus a complete spray and re-sticker is £150 from Orange.

    Cracking little bike.

how have you found the Crush and why are you thinking of a swap?

I know no one has ridden the P7 but just wondered why they would have two similar bikes. it is purely the material and how they ride as a result? are they aimed at different things?

Sorry to resurrect this from 6 months ago but I never actually managed to break open the wallet.

The above is still an option but now thinking Crush / new 2016 P7 also.

Have I missed any worth considering.

Also I have just seen the 45650B with a really good spec for £1600!! that is good value, but cost is not the major influence.

I think it will have to be online. Local shops struggle with Longboards.

Fancy a trial bike but will never use it properly, just hopping about, so perhaps a bmx would be best.

No idea what I’m looking for though!

    DBW what is the bike?

I normally stay out of these sort of debates. But all I can say is ride one.

I went on a Scott demo this year and rode a 9 series scale (it was a cheaper one at that), loved it.

So much so I sold my 26″ full suss and bought a 920, I haven’t looked back.

The only issue is, I’m so content with my bike I have stopped looking at new bikes, upgrades, and buying bike mags. Which is part of the sport :).

It has changed my riding, I’m not bothered about riding the biggest drops etc etc, it’s all about the XC I’m happy doing 40 miles, which I never thought I’d say seen as when I started biking I was nearly 20st now 15!

By the way it’s more than happy at trail centres too!

    Hope this helps.

Are there any racers with bar ends – what is your set up?

or is this a no no in the lycra clad world of racing?

    Yeah, that’s the idea.

But I’m asking is there a good / Sunday best which will stand upto the winter?
