It’s the mindset in this country that if we don’t pay tax it’s a win. It’s also the mindset to grumble when we can’t get a GP appointment the same day, we don’t see coppers walking down the street and the rubbish in the road. The connection between the two isn’t made, you get what you pay for in life and good public services cost. Tax should be seen as a pro social, positive thing to do but isn’t. I get peoples indifference and antagonism and it pisses me off but just because the guy next to me is stealing a 75 inch mega tv doesn’t mean I should Nick a toaster!

Online stuff is a minefield for kids, the thread the other day about the child getting dressed isn’t unique, the vast majority of indecent images of children online are self produced. The conversation should involve taking and sharing photos and videos of themselves and others as well as potential dangers from grooming and bullying. It’s so easy for kids to get to very dark places very easily.

I talk and think about masturbation far too much, and get paid for it!

Evening guys, not a watch person looking for some advice! Stepdaughter fast approaching 16th birthday and I thought I’d get her something that will last longer than Harry Styles tickets she’s so chuffed with! Thinking a nice-ish watch around £150.00 budget, any recommendations?

Might also be worth speaking to OT’s at hospital or social work dept. There are some pretty clever things they can do now.

Flew edinburgh to Bristol and back last weekend, must say it was an absolute joy, no queues and staff more relaxed. No one asked about Covid, vaccines etc.

Lots of whisky at great prices but not allowed to buy it, bugger

    Kudos to you TJ!
like far to many people on here and IRL i have a similar story to tell, probably the most surreal evening ive ever spent is arguing with my late wife about killing her! I’d promised to look after her and make her passing as peaceful and dignified as i could, she was worried that I’d be charged and lose my profession as well as losing her. Fortunately a blood clot meant i didn’t have to, i certainly would have and not had a shred of guilt. my proudest achievement in life is keeping that promise and caring for her to the end.

keep up the fight and stay strong, be kind to yourself

not to hijack the thread but…….

The plastic pump broke and noticed you can get an adapter for a SOP – Schradar valve, thinking the BlowJoe would be more efficient? has anyone tried this?

I know the arguments against it, we moved to a run down house three years ago and have completely renovated from top to bottom, garden was massively overgrown both front and back, I’m no gardener ( it’s extra housework!) so have cut back everything, shifter a load of massive rocks. Honestly can’t be arsed anymore, just want to barbecue and drink beer now! As a penance I’m spreading wildflower seeds on the verges of the park opposite ( with agreement of community council)

i thought the guide at Auschwitz was excellent and made it feel more than a tourist attraction, Mrs demilles relatives managed to escape Germany in 1938 so it was very real for her, the deal involved passports for her great grandparents if the son enlisted in Latvian Army, they still don’t know what became of him.
In Phnom Penh, the tuk-tuk drivers will offer a discount to the Killing Fields and a local gun range where you can fire an AK-47, i can never imagine wanting to do one after doing the other!

Sorry for title! But my point is, people buying high end bikes will know that the price is too good. Ignoring the fact that your Carbon framed evoke cost £200 quid from a bloke facebay makes you complicit!

On a similar note, I got a SUP for Christmas, ordered from Bluefin via Amazon by Mrs Demille. She then got a message apologising for non delivery and was offered a many hundred pound refund! She’s too honest to do so but can’t figure who would stump for that loss.

We have the BT Whole home discs, Three in a large stone house with too many screens running all the time, they are great. Added bonus you can turn off petulant teenage devices till they’ve done their chores!

I read the reviews and see these threads and end up completely confused, we had one put in and it was a total nightmare! heating came on during the night, it said we were heating 24 hours per day when house was cold ( the bills suggest that we were using a massive amount of gas!) persevered for 8 months before we got shot. i wont be allowed any more Smart home devices for a long time.

This is an excellent book about the people who we should be remembering.

Such an awful situation for you all with no right or wrong answer.
To add my experience, My wife was adamant that the hospice was the best place for her, mostly because it meant that i would have somewhere quiet and restful to sleep, she knew if she was at home i wouldn’t be able to relax ( fat chance of that happening anyway!)
St Columba’s in Edinburgh were immense and organised for her to go to the Day Hospice once or twice a week to give me a break, much needed.
only other piece of advice is be kind to yourself, if others offer to help, let them, use the supports. I’m a SW in scotland and know my way around the god awful system of care/support and the rest, so any professional advice just DM me.

    That’s shitty news.

My wife was diagnosed at 33 years old with a terminal Brain Tumour. Out of the blue and knocked us for six…
If you’re lucky enough to have a Maggie’s centre close by, drop in for a chat, there wont be any pressure but we found them amazing, they’ll have information and support for you, your wife and the kids.
In terms of living, do nice stuff, celebrate life while you can and spend time with those you love eat well and get out and about, there’s nothing like a beach to sooth.

apart from that, all i can say is good luck!

Managed to bag a Macpac Minaret in their summer sale a few years ago, $300 NZ. And that was before the pound went tits up! Total bargain.
