which goes to show that the talent is there from other countries (France last year for example) but the Belgian organisers aren’t interested in bringing them over for the big senior races when they move up.

Two of the best cross riders in the World aren’t Belgian (lars Boom and Zdenek Stybar) but both are focussing on the road now. Part of the reason os the abuse they get from the Belgian crowds and another is that they get less start money at the big races than the equivalent Belgians.
I think it’s a shame that the Belgian crowds and organisers are so partisan though I’m sure it won’t be long until the US dollar starts to talk.

It’s less than 2 miles for me. I could walk it! Although plan to cycle over and get back to the house to watch the finish on the TV!

    I haven’t forgotten your invite 8)

What are the liability implications if someone bins it due to failure of a frame you built?

That applies to the most skilled and experienced frame builders too. Insurance

would alcohol have fewer harmd (or whatever) on that scale if it was illegal and so therefore fewer people would choose partake?

    deep dish

    ???

those rims are “deep rims”, dishing has nothing to do with it: see wikipedia

Sefton – I’ve been told they “cut through mud better.” I didn’t understand.

The theory is that is most mud situations the mud doesn’t “flow” over the top of the rim generating extra resistance. In sand they track better by being harder to knock off line as the deep rim would have to “push” more sand to move sideways.

Anyway, who cares about the theory. As everyone knows, its all about what Sven does.

    Nice bike BTW

They look properly spindly, they flex like a good un

they do different versions. I’ve got the intermediate stiffness on my road bike and they don’t appear to flex (50T with a 135 BCD might help though)

and a chunky 1/8th 47T on my track bike which is rock solid

Totally agree, don’t think anyone said otherwise.

    me too!

@Lady Gresley, I’m pretty sure I can speak for Anna when I say she wanted larger sizing but the Italian factory had different ideas 😕
This is all a learning curve for her and I know her summer range will have a greater range of sizes

    *Proud brother alert!*

My sister’s company, Ana Nichoola, has nice female designed and tested clothing that doesn’t look too cycling 😀

Her winter range[/url] is in the shops and online now and her growing spring summer range brochure can be seen here

Admittedly the jacket isn’t cheap but it is very good quality

why are pensions seen as good things by most people whereas in the current climate investment bankers (including pension fund managers) are seen as scumbags?

My grandparents are royally fubared financially due to pension funds performing spectacularly badly. There’s no way I’m trusting some coked-up city boy to manage my future. Property and a few other bits for me, at least if it goes wrong it will be my fault…

Upgrade the wheels rather than the forks. Reducing rotating mass will have a greater effect.

Weight will make a difference but it will be minor when you consider how much mud it will be carrying around on it.

I’ve done 15 races so far this season and only 2 have been “muddy”. Even in a wet winter a surprising amount of early season races are dusty

Liam crashed on a different corner to Mick; a greasy off-camber right maybe 4 from the finish. It looked to me like Liam made a do-or-die outside manouvre knowing he had grippier tubs but overcooked it, slipped and hit Ian’s wheel. Racing isn’t purely about who is the strongest, Ian had the better head yesterday. Agree that Liam should be flying for the Olympics if this is his off season 😯

Great to see Mick Bell win after centuries of trying! I think you were a london league regular so I guess you knew him?

Yeah I’ve known Mick for a good while, really pleased for him too.

Oh I dunno, you weren’t last.

Not far off though! At least getting lapped and pulled out meant I saw that crash happen right in front of where I was watching.

Bikerbruce, U23? looked flipping quick! Still a bit slower than belgy I guess?

Until an hour ago Bauge was World Sprint Champion but has had his titles stripped for missing 3 out of competition tests…

Nahh, not considering the support required, £40.00 sounds about right.

what support is required over and above an open road race?

    All good advice.

Do you have a road bike? If so, make sure they are compatible so that you can swap wheels across (unless you are going for a disc CX)

BoardingBob, you got mean wrong again. Re-read that .ox.ac.uk link

    MEAN
The average value, calculated by adding all the observations and dividing by the number of observations.

    leggyblonde

29K IS NOT THE AVERAGE, IT’S THE MEDIAN, WHICH IS THE MID POINT IN THE RANGE OF SALARIES ON OFFER, NOT THE AVERAGE AMOUNT EARNED

WRONG! the median is an average. You’re thinking of the mean
