I saw this ad earlier and thought similar. Ok, mathematically they could, but why don’t they?

WD, <genuinely sorry> not sure how to not sound pedantic here (and I have tried re-wording this a few times). IVB = Independent Verification Body. There is no way I could provide this for items I am supplying . Hence my back charging of the client remark.

WD, possibly you have mis-interpreted me. I am of the understanding a CE cert would be applicable if you provided the same item many times over, whereas a unique system would not warrant this type if cert, but a one specific to it and only it.

An IVB cert is different though. I hope you are charging the client for this. £4500 plus your time depending on scope.
How can you issue IVB certification for your own equipment?

You can’t. You pay Lloyd’s or DNV to check your calcs and drawings and they issue a cert to say they agree with your design. Or they don’t which is a far bigger issue.

Heat will play a massive part if his ducts are reaching temps of +600 deg. Welds, expansion, shrinkage and fatigue are all calculable and an IVB will want to see design proof.

Thanks for responses, its parts for a rig, ancillary equipment, hot ducts (600 deg) etc.

Interesting. I am currently supplying a similar product. Our system is too bespoke to warrant a CE cert. An IVB cert is different though. I hope you are charging the client for this. £4500 plus your time depending on scope.

I have seen references to CE marking in specifications, but no. My work is 99% offshore supply and we do not provide this. That said, we have Lloyd’s register type approvals and have a long established trading record.

I’d be interested in why you want a no?

Hehe. My dad was in the paras and used to train squaddies to use the Milan. Anyway, one big training manoeuvre involving a disused train resulted in my dad blowing it up with his first shot. No target = weekend on the beer.

So, not the same, but similar content no?

I have a set and can’t fault them. Although that is somewhat of a lie. My mojo came with Ibis branded hubs which turned out to be Novatech, which in turn are superstar switch.

I keep thinking about upgrading, but they just work. Run smooth and overall build is light.

Not sure if superstar use the same bearings, but that’s a small change if necessary.

My office is usually clean apart from the cubicles. They have fitted low energy bulbs which means it’s still usually dark if you’ve only gone in for a pee. The problem is that someone doesn’t mind pissing everywhere. Toilet seat, floor etc. If you go in and don’t realise this, it is very possible that you get the seat of your pants wet from the floor. Not nice. I’ve been lucky enough to date.

I recently sent an email to a client confirming what items are due to be shipped on a particular date, however, I replied whilst out on a bike ride and had stopped in some woods to shelter from the rain.
Anyway, my stupid cold hands wrote ‘sufficient quantity to fu k a flat rack’.

It’s in Pallion. Next door to the climbing wall. Check this postcode on Google maps SR4 6TQ
See the big grey building just under the climbing wall? That’s the skatepark and indoor trails. The big concrete wasteland to the right of it is going to be the outdoor area.

Ah! One of the old Doxfords buildings or the high shed behind the climbing wall?

This is interesting as a couple of years back I was involved in an appraisal of the Quay here. I might be able to offer some help.

Tinribz, cheers. Until I shift his cold, I’m not wanting to train too intensely anyway. I have a few hours to spare and plan to set up the bike this afternoon.
Once built up, I’ll know what bits are missing to complete the build with gears.

    Cheers for the replies.

Mine was a 2.2Tid lump in a Saab 9.3. The manifold was 6 or 8 torx bolts iirc. Taking it off was easy but take care with the gasket unless you buy a new one in advance.

I didn’t blank mine but have been told that you may need the chip re-programmed to not read the egr valve ot you will constantly have a fault. That was for Saab mind.

I clean mine on my last car. I used a spoon to scrape off the thick, then carb cleaner and wire brush to take of the deposit stuck to the egr and casing. One point to note, I also removed the manifold with the venturi in as that was equally gunned up. My reasoning is that the venturi was not opening fully and creating the blockage which caused the build up in the first place.

Rubber gloves and a pre-emotive bucket of soapy water for you.

I can recommend the Ravensworth Arms just along the A1 in Kibblesworth. Nice pub, good ales and a very tasty meal last time I visited.

Edit, it’s only a five min drive if the A1 isn’t at a standstill.

A friend of mine took early retirement a few years back and managed to find a job delivering leaflets.

Do you know when you go to a B&B or a tourist spot and there is the big cardboard leaflet display? He re-filled them. He was given a van and a petrol card and he worked his own hours. Transfer this job to the lakes and you have the perfect retirement job.

You really ought to take more interest in what’s going on, Voyager is still working, still sending data back, and it’s gone beyond the edge of the solar system, in fact it’s re-defined where the solar system ends, and interstellar space begins.
Rosetta isn’t that whizzy, really, and a radio signal travels at the speed of light, it takes eight minutes for light and radio to travel from the sun to us, ten minutes from Rosetta to us, four and a half years to the nearest neighbour star, Alpha Centauri.
Voyager 1 is now 19,038,292,158km from Earth, 18,952,241,706km from the sun, and counting, the roundtrip light time from the sun is 35:16:49,
Voyager 2 15,653,474,104km from Earth, 15,534,355,362km from the Sun, 29:00:28 light time. And counting.
Voyager 1’s total elapsed planetary and interstellar mission is currently 36 years, four months and fifteen days,
Voyager 2’s total elapsed planetary and interstellar mission is currently 36 years and 5 months.
And you think Rosetta is pushing the envelope?
And before the question arises about how they manage to get enough power to keep running, when they’re that far from the sun, both Voyagers are nuclear powered, but their power plants are on limited time.

Please tell me you knew all of those facts, down to the second without Googling.

I read a news article last year about stopping water meters illegally which contained a link to a Russian/ eastern block site which sold strong magnets.

I can’t remember the exact blurb, but it went along the lines of “Prevent water thieves stealing water, if you want to learn how they do it, click this link for details”. Made me chuckle

Depending how much off-road you wish to include, there is an old tarmac track starting at the damn at Burnhope reservoir which peters out into gravel track then eventually old mine track. You could cycle over the top from Nenthead, then loop back via B6227 over Alston Moor back into Nenthead.

For a more off-road trip, I can heartily recommend the Pennine way between Cowgreen reservoir to High Cup Nick (and possibly down to Dufton if you have the time).

Insulate then screed is a cheaper way to raise the floor as cdaimers has done. Joists sort of complicate matters in this instance.

Following on from Rockhoppers post, garages are usually 100mm (min) below house floor level (for spillages believe it or not). Check if there is a difference.

Are there any piers in the single skin wall?

Look on the Trada website as they provide details (free) for timber constructions. My first pass is yes, insulated timber stud should be fine, but it’s the interfaces which may complicate matters.

Edit, if you are going to be fixing kitchen units to this wall, consider jumbo stud, effectively regular stud with a skin of plywood to provide additional strength and you can fix what you like, where you like.

looks like the ebay seller may end up re-winning a previously sold item

The cynic in me wonders if this seller has any link to RM, however that is conjecture and on the surface, they are doing nothing wrong.

I’ve only just read this thread from page one and I am genuinely taken back by RM’s actions. What is most concerning is if this money spinner has evolved naturally and is a by-product of policies, or if this is a planned income stream? Bigger than the OP’s loss, this could be very damaging indeed for RM if it is proven that their policy is designed to allow them to dispose of value items at a profit.

OP, well done for perusing this and good luck.
