There should be a number on the left fork leg at the back near the seal – key that into the fox site and it gives you all the info on that model

    Always ran minions f&r

Just changed to spec purgatory f&r a couple of weeks back

Set up tubeless no bother, so far they have had a couple of local rides, a weekend in Scotland including rocky Dalbeattie and a slightly mucky uplift day at inners and trail riding at glentress.

No burping, no flats, roll better than the minions and seem every bit as good grip wise, so far so good!!

    just to add to this…

i have had my alpine for just over 2 years and can confirm its a great frame, iv used it for everything from uplift days to long xc rides and although not the best climber in the world it will get you up anything (im on 1×10)

iv done up to 50 miles in a day on it, over this last weekend in scotland I done 70 trail miles with about 8000ft climbing on on friday & sunday with an uplift day on sat so I think you will be happy if you go the alpine route….

Iv just ordered a banshee rune purely because i want to try a different bike so if your needing a large frame let me know (2011 frame with hope headset/bb and an rp23 kashima shock)

    Hi Guys

We just wanted to give you a further update from the earlier thread http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/ccdb-inline-3/page/2 where we were discussing the new DBinlines.

We think the DBinline is a great shock for the money (£360 including mount hardware when you buy from us) and in our view, at this price point, it’s the best inline shock on the market at the moment. We mentioned before that we’ve had some issues with the high speed rebound damping on these shocks (not as much HSR as we’d like) when running the higher pressures that some heavier riders/ some bike leverage ratios require.

We’ve spent more time with these shocks both in the workshop and on the bike and we now think that the lack of HSR damping only really becomes an issue at pressures around the 230 psi mark (which is slightly higher than our earlier comments suggested). However, we have also spoken to riders whose individual ride preferences/ bike set up mean that they are personally happy with how the shock runs at higher pressures.

At TF we want all our customers to have a good suspension experience and so depending on their individual circumstances we would sometimes recommend alternative shocks (e.g. the DB Air or Float X), taking into account the differing intended use and the higher cost of these alternatives.

We are always happy to advise on the phone, so if you are unsure, or just want to chat through the options for you/ your bike then please call us 01373 826800

    Cheers, TFT

iv just read through most of this as im picking a shock for my new rune i have on order.

Im not long off the phone with tftuned then found this thread.

I was told for what i am wanting to do on the rune (160 rear travel) the inline would be great, im about 90/92 kitted up with 2 litres of water in the backpack, they done a quick spring check and reckoned about 185 psi would be plenty.

the main thing that swayed me towards the inline rather than the dbair cs is they explained the inline when the cs is on is much firmer than the dbair cs, this is a big plus for me as i like to pedal up.
(obviously not a lock out but he explained it as being 7/10 and the dbair cs being 3/10)

i do a few uplifts days and was told the inline would cope fine with the bigger hits and the likes of the dh trails at inners fine.

Also i think the problem with heavier riders is more guys running 240/250 psi in them

i went for the rune basically for the extra travel, i already have new pikes [on the alpine) so they should match up well

I’m using all 160 at the rear on certain types of riding I’m doing so thought id better have it than look for it 😉

also my thinking is for tamer days at the odd trail centre i can flip the rear chips and steepen it up a bit to make it a slightly easier pedal.

iv also got a hard tail for proper mile munching rides if i feel the need.

what do you rune owners rune shock wise?

Pre ordered the run today, xl in orange….

Just got to make my mind up on either the cane creek dbair cs or the inline

Btw – did exchange a few mails to Keith and can confirm he’s very helpfull…..

Going to be a long 3/4 weeks waiting now 🙂

yeah the ladders at glentress would be fine…. its more the matador type drops at inners id be worried about on the spitfire….not really to flat but not big transitions either…

….a fair bit of my local trails have flatish landings

are you doing anything in the way of bigger drop offs etc on the spitty?

was over in scotland at the weekend and hitting the 7/8 ft drops on the alpine….thinking the 140 may bottom out on this type of thing..

aaaaggggghhhh so after much thought it looks like im going for the big brother in xl, the RUNE, just think it may be more suited to my riding and size, the extra bit of travel will help me out on uplifts days and the odd club dh race.

i can always alter the angles for anything a bit more sedate.

and its bound to pedal better than my older alpine…. hopefully lol

thanks for all the input guys

Guys…. Nearly ready to stick a pre order in, just can’t decide on size…

Does anyone around 6’2 have a pic of their large with the seat at pedalling height?

Don’t want it to have to be way higher than the bars for my backs sake!!!

Anyone go xl about my height?

I think weight wont be a problem….. My 20″ alpine ain’t light lol

So decision is large or xl!!!!

    Cheers for the info guys

i always just build them up, means you can put the spec you want on it.

very rarely do i see a full build with kit i would want to keep on it.

that and im usually using most of the parts of my last build etc

    Didn’t know the done a 150

Again – don’t rule the orange out, single pivots are fine

I’m on the alpine 160 and it pedals fine and is fairly bombproof, I can keep up with most people on most trails, I reckon the 5 would be perfect for aggressive trail riding

Only reason I’m on the alpine is I use it for uplifts and the odd dh race so can’t afford two fs bikes

I built one and enjoy it for a bit of everything but proper rough stuff (got the full bouncer for that)

I’ve had local blasts and 40/50 milers with a mix of coast paths and trail centres etc

    Does everything fine 🙂
