Anyone know of any bars with only a small sweep?

Try and find a 2nd hand Soul. On anything other than really , really rocky stuff mine’s just as quick as an fs if not faster as it’s so responsive.

Thanks ginger. I’ve played around with rotating the bars and couldn’t get the sweep where I need them – will give it another go though.

The Hussefelts are 700mm wide and I still catch them on the odd tree so wouldn’t want to go too much wider or mess around with stem length etc as it’s more about the angle my wrists are at (I’ve got the ‘stretch’ where I need it). That said, if seat position will change my wrist angle I’ll give it a go.

If you hate bad driving never come to Exeter. It’s truly shocking. I lived in London for years and I’d rather drive round Vauxhall Cross at night in the rain than Sandy Gate roundabout. As for middle lane hoggers….ggrrrrr

In defence of Merlin they’ve always got it spot on with my stuff.

Crap service from a massive company that bought and killed off loads of smaller brands? There’s a shock.

Go and give them a chance to put it right. If they don’t ask them a direct question on fb and Twitter as that usually gets a positive response. We even managed to get BT to fix something…

If you don’t like it don’t pay it. Or, take your own kit and rent it out when you’re not using it. Sure you’ll make a killing :)

I’ve eaten chilled goats brains, dried pigs ears and raw eel – but there’s no bloody way I’m eating one of these…

I managed to get some oil on my XT pads but saved them by…

    – stick them in a caliper that you know is working
    – ride with the brake on to get them reallllly hot
    – poor water on them
    – ride with them on again – the water etc creates a paste
    – repeat 2/3 times and they were fine

If that doesn’t work get a £7 set from superstar, they work a treat.

What Cynic said – check that the wheel is sitting correctly as the paint is pretty thick. I thought I had a dishing/alignment issue but I just hadn’t whacked the wheel in correctly. Flipped it upside down, pushed the wheel in and all was fine.

Not the best experience agreed but they’re a lot better than many retailers. Their price match is very handy – picked up quite a few bits at Merlin/CRC prices without having to wait for delivery.

My sister once drank a load of 3 in 1 when she was about 3. My mum said everything fell out for about a week. An alternative is white paraffin; a colleague gave it to a mate for a laugh and it worked pretty quickly by all accounts.

Alternatively loads of water, strong coffee and fags.

If it was reclaim the streets they’d be off their tits on acid and pills jumping up and down to ear bleeding techno. Well, that’s what a mate of mine alleged.

I like the odd burger / KFC / snickers but exercise and eat well the rest of the time, why should I have to pay more tax because some lazy b@stard eats too much and is the size of a house? Education and personal responsibility should always come before tax rises.

I saw a peregrine falcon tucking into a wood pigeon in our front garden the other day. That was pretty cool. Also see quite a few ‘big things’ (buzzards?) at Haldon.

I’ve only used the ones with the cage twice (M530) and they seem to help clipping in but might just be a coincidence.

Right, I’ve checked in the Snr Management and I’m allowed out early so 8am is good for me.

Where’s Yarner car park – out of Bovey as if you’re going to Haytor but don’t take the left fork? I’ve Googled it and not found a postcode and it’s not marked on Google maps.

There’s foam on the ground, a small weed that needs removing and your seatpost, stem, bars and saddle don’t match. Anything else? ;)

How about SLX and use the difference for something else new?

@bitemebryn – sounds good to me. I’ve got a 3 yr old so getting up early isn’t really a problem! Will confirm tmw if that’s OK. Could prob do 8am if it helps.

@Del – can always rescue you from Haldon on the way through :)

Welcome to the hive mind :)

XT if you want shiny. SLX if you want same performance just cheaper.

Not used CB stuff myself but it’s had some pretty ropey reviews on here.

Only used them for one ride but the Superstar pads I put in my XTs felt pretty good. Even better that they’re only £7 a pair :)

I’m using Specialized Grappler and they’re too skinny for my big hands. Any suggestions for something thicker gratefully received.

I’ve got some of the new XTs and they’re sooo strong. I weigh ~100kg in my kit and can stop super quick with no real effort.
