Yeah, a lot of the old skate shoe manufacturers seem to produce more indie/fashion shoes/plimsolls rather than old chunky skate shoes these days.. still £12 isn’t too bad for a set of DCs..

That Camel site is pretty depressing as kinda shows that whenever you buy something it’s always the wrong time.. also interesting to note just how little time a product has to be sold at the supposed retail price for them to be able to legally advertise the product as “Save £££ on RRP”.. seems to be RRP for a week and then half price for the next five years…

Yeah they come in pretty handy – maybe not such much for bike related stuff, lack of allen keys etc, but useful for mending stuff round the house or out and about.

My mate has one of the Leathermans and they do seem pretty good, well built etc.. I only use my Gerber very occasionally, and it feels pretty solid.. ideal for me cos I wanted a multi tool that I can carry about but not be too bothered if I lose it cos it was only a tenner. Would be pretty gutted to lose an expensive Leatherman..

I bought the Bear Grylls compact one, only used it a couple of times but seems pretty well made – probably would only buy direct from Amazon and not the cheaper Chinese 3rd party sellers though cos those ones are probably fake I imagine.

Thought I’d bump the thread as the Gerber multi tools all seem to be half price or less again, free postage too.

I use this stuff – the foam based self adhesive draught excluder, works really well.

lasts way longer than normal helmet pads, easy to apply, doesn’t soak up as much sweat either.

Have a look on retro bike – I bought this Diamond Back Apex for £90, immaculate condition, was a £700ish bike back in the day from what I can work out. Check both the pre and post 1997 forum sections – some v cheap old-ish bikes on there in good nick, often going very cheap.

I get your point but ignorance and prejudice will not be overcome by putting your head in the sand and going lalalal till it just goes away, sadly.

Yeah, but when that ignorance and prejudice is largely only present in order to gain attention, then it will soon disappear if the hits suddenly dried up. Ultimately the DM’s a business, and has to keep doing what works – if the current model stopped working, then they’d be forced to change, and work out other ways of attracting visitors.

I agree that unfortunately it’s pretty unlikely that this will happen in the foreseeable future.

I really don’t get the hatred for the Mail. Sure it’s bigoted and prints/publishes some pretty nasty articles, and constantly contradicts itself, but not even the actual “journalists” actually believe any of their trashy content.

It’s funded by your outrage – they print something offensive, Twitter goes berserk, the DM website gets loads of hits and consequently makes money from ad revenue. Professional Trolling. The best thing you can do is to just ignore it.

Once you realise that it’s all just their (admittedly bad taste) business model, then there’s no need to play into their hands and rant about them, their articles or their readers.

If we all just ignored it then it would all go away.
