thanks loco, that’s what i suspected.

sound like i’m after something similar to robsoctane:

i’d like it tuned with more of a platform on the pro pedal to reduce bob: low speed compression circuit?
and i’d like better small bump compliance (over roots etc): high speed compression? is that correct?
am i right in thinking that low and high speed are 2 seperate circuits on a pushed shock and therefore both can be achieved?

    nother question:
i’m talking about pro-pedal mode here. how does all this relate to when the shock is in open mode?

and another: when people talk about the compression tune on a shock, like robsoctane above, are they lumping high and low speed comp together to describe the overall character of the tune as required by frame and rider weight etc?

    cheers loco. expertise appreciated!

+1 for homemade bender fender. cut from a large plastic paint tub lid.
works on the back too, at least to keep some muck off yr shock, pivots etc.

Also, the zip-tie snow tires thing looks worth a shot for snow and ice:

    thanks fellas.
i’m 58 and a bit. i always had bikes that were to big before so i wanted to be sure it was nice and small and chuckable. but having put my bits back an a hard-tail frame with a longer top tube i’m thinking the stumpy is a bit too stumpy for me. already have lay back thompson and slightly longer stem than i wanted.
would explain a few things about control while climbing etc.
    oh well…
stuck with it just now i guess

    wwaswas: yes

timthetinyhorse: yes those are powergrips. i like ’em but i think they’re better on regular cage pedals than flatties.

    float: thanks

thanks marky, i don’t need a stiffer spring; i’m already set up in the stiffer end of things at present.
when you say ‘wind on a touch more compression’ do you mean compression damping or pre-load? aye i can see a but more compression damping would be a good idea
i’m really asking if it’s ok to be bottoming out occasionally? or is it preferable to just run with slightly more than the desired pre-load, and therefore less sag?
when you bottom out is it the tops of the lowers actually hitting the crown that does the ‘bottoming'(smirk)? it this bad?

I’m not convinced many people would benefit from more than 120mm either end on a 29er if they like going up allong and down.

at risk of hi-jacking the thread: is the implication that the travel ‘goes’ a lot further on a 29er? ie taking a given drop will use less travel, assuming sags/pre-loads all set correctly, on a 29er than a 26er? makes no sense to me if so.
Or is it more just about general ride character; the combination of the big wheels and lots of travel felling a bit un-weildy?

    +1 on bandit 29er! that’s what i want.

    Norco shinobi,
if it’s not against forum rules, review here:

there’s the kona sartori too. All are longer travel ones. not sure if that’s what yr after.
go on, get the bandit. and post review and photos when you do!

oh aye? had thought of that. ‘minium crown i though aye fine but full carbon, if you say so! better to use regular bit or a lip and spur?

cheers al. DC19s are the predecessor to DC37s i think? they’re on my list. just fancied something a little heavier duty. not sure i’d get knobblies in them.

also, i don’t need lower mounts (therefore P-clips), only a hole as for caliper brake mount.

bacause they ‘think’ they are animals? like horses.
i lived in bucharest for a year and a half. cycling there no fun. joy to cycle in other countries where you can pass gateways, houses, farms etc without fear.

a mate told me his tactic when touring in romania: take water bottle and squirt a bit on the ground. stops them in their tracks to sniff at it.

    never tried it :)

So if the coolant temp sensor is wrong, but PSA HDI engines don’t really use glow plugs (it is one of them), what would be the problematic effect of the sensor not working?

btw once started and warmed up a bit, but not all that much compared to normal running temp, it started no problem.

    cheers again for yr help

    ha ha :) thanks esselgruntfuttock.

and thanks everyone else for some good info. sounds like it’s clearly a sensor rather than the glow plugs. guess i’ll need to plug it in.
knew i shoulda got an older tdi without EMS…
