Loads of these (slightly out of focus) bad boys in Richmond park today. No idea what they are but they were big enough to feed/kill a family.

I design stadiums and arenas. Every 5-6 years I get to build one too, or at least tell people how I want them to build it.

cheers fellas, I’ll try the bodging methods tonight. Don’t really want to buy another chainwhip though as i have (a now somewhat bent) one already.

If none of that works I’ll skid it down to the LBS tomorrow armed with biscuits and my dentists details.

Often seen with bikes poking vertically out of the back seats.

    Huws – where is that?

Herne Hill Velodrome, South London not too far from Brixton. £8 for the track induction including bike hire.

I like both, but doing this on saturday morning was the most fun I’ve had on a bike in a long while and i suppose it’s closer to road than mountain biking.

I’ve ridden both back to back around whites level. Took the blood out first and winched up slowly, not much fun but doable. Coming down was some of the most fun I’ve ever had, popping and bouncing of everything. Getting on the alpine afterwards was a revelation on the climbs, it absolutely flew up. The downside was that coming back down just felt a bit dead. Fast but no where near as much fun. A few days later I ordered the blood.

[shameless plug]The frame is for sale now due to a catastrophic loss of confidence on my part. If you’re interested you’ll find my old for sale thread somewhere in my profile, there’ll be a significant price drop over that shown in the advert too.[/shameless plug]

Nope… They even have “Police” out checking that no one is breaking the rules…

    Guardian Linky…

You do realise that that link is about the ceremonies canteen underneath the Olympic stadium. Unless they’ve moved Weymouth I doubt it applies.

I also doubt that all of Weymouth is going to be ticketed and within the ‘clean’ zone. If it sounds stupid and unlikely it probably is.

I doubt you’ll ever see those sticking out of anyone’s pocket in Dalston, unless they’re lost and riding a hybrid.

I’m full of excited anticipation for tomorrow so I’m forcing my studio to listen to ‘Tour De France’ by Kraftwerk.

Old one, and it does build into a very stealthy whip.

Mid build so please excuse the length of the hoses.

I saw The Family Cat play live at The After Dark in reading. The guitarist played a jaguar 12 string (I think) for that perfect early 90’s jangly indie sound.

Unfortunately they’re not on spotify. Superfuzz Bigmuff will have to do.

I’m aiming to be just after Richmond park on the corner of priory lane and upper Richmond road. They should be fair motoring down the ‘hill’ on priory lane and swooping into a wide fast 90 degree corner. :-)

Other than that putney high st could be good, plenty of pubs too.

Is a maxis high roller effectivly a 650b

Yes, if the highroller is a 2.5″ and the 650b rim has 1.5″ tyre they will be approximately the same size. If the 650b has a 2.5″ highroller then no.

A 650b rim is almost exactly 1″ larger in diameter than a 26″ rim.

You’ll be fine on 26k, especially if you don’t drink. Don’t expect to be in your own flat in Kensington though, but you should be able to get into a nice flat share in zone 2 or possibly a 1 bedroom much further out.

    Do it, London is awesome.

It doesn’t really matter what tyre you use, they all clog up with clay pretty quickly.

Swamp things have served me well in the past, but I’ve never had to ride back up.

Don’t worry, mudguards won’t help you, if it doesn’t stop raining soon 2 weeks ago you’ll be sliding down the trail on your face/bum by the time you reach the first corner. It really is hellish in the wet at Aston Hill.

    Have fun :D

I see nothing bad up there.

I have an epic 7 hour spotify playlist of girl pop, without doubt the best song on it is She Wolf by Shakira. I’ll happily sing holler that song all day long.

There’s a lot of information in this book about the mounted armies of Attila the Hun, including (if I remember correctly) a Hungarian guy who’s spent 20+ years practicing to shoot 6 shots into the same target at a full gallop. It also has plenty of interesting accounts of how they were used to great effect in battle.

Butterflied leg of lamb marinated in harrisa, cumin, smoked paprika, olive oil and lemon juice. Serve with flatbread of your choice, roast veg, feta cheese and lambs lettuce.

Wow mboy, you’ve ridden your bike in some strange places. :D

I was once told (quite rightly) to stop riding on the pavement by tv’s Celia Imrie.

I’m bothered, but I couldn’t live with the guilt of destroying the nest.

I do like the idea of ‘farming’ them though. Maybe feeding the chicks something delicious so that they taste better when they’re ‘ready’. Perhaps peas and White wine.

After a bit of digging (gentle scratching of the surface of google) it would seem they pop up occasionally in Richmond Park and the Wetlands Centre, I’d assume both are fairly attractive to a Kite.

I’d love to see Kites take over from pigeons in London, a bunch of them hopping around eating sick and chips of an evening in Soho would be far more impressive than some gimpy, one legged pigeons. Now, if someone can introduce something large and fast enough to take those squawky green **** out I’d be a very happy man. An active breeding program for Peregrines would do.

It was just strange and unexpected to see something I’ve only ever seen in the wilds of West Wales in London village.
