They are clearly early ones, i wouldn’t start fooking about stripping courses out to put some sort of DPM or eaves trays though, they will be very brittle. Guarenteed they will break others.

Sounds like condensation but wouldn’t think enough to get the rafters soaked. Also it sounds like no felt so ventilation with slates would be quite good
So need to work out whether the slates have been fixed to the correct guage
Personally i have to say no. My stainless Hope has lasted 6 mths, although
I hope a strip/clean and regrease will be enough rather than new bearings.
I used to get 12 mths out of XT ones
