the Jon Ronson book about psychopaths is very funny and interesting, and makes a good case

don’t think I’ve ever come across a real one in the wild though

yes – I’ve done this several times – got about 4 or 5 patches in an old tyre that I started running tubeless

I have one of those big strips of patch that can be cut to size

Make a big casserole the day before – leave it overnight to get super tasty. Reheat on the day – do some mash

    Easy

Just make sure it’s a real pie, and not a casserole with a pastry hat on

Calshot is great fun – its the only velodrome I have ever ridden at, but I understand that the unusually tight and high banking makes it feel a bit more “extreme” than a standard sized track

looks like humidity too me – my bedroom wall also gets spots and marks a bit like that

I have a dehumidifier and it does help –

I’m sure someone will be along who knows more than me – better ventilation might help but this is sometimes easier said then done

yep – Beastie Boys (2nd album onwards) and Public Enemy are “safe” around kids- although PE use the N word from time to time, which might need explaining and contextualising

I wear headphones, listen to music and ride on road off road, wherever. I have eyes and can hear traffic just fine over the music anyway.

Give it a try, you might like it – I suggest a playlist starting with “the eye of the tiger” then moving on to “physical”

Had a great ride in stanmer last night on summer tyres. It’s not muddy enough for mud tyres yet.

Last year I made my gravy using homemade chicken stock from the freezer, a bottle of dry cider and red currant jelly.

    Best

My top tip – the bird can be rested for as long as you cooked it – wrap it up in foil and it stays warm. This way you have loads of room in the oven to cook everything else – I found this approach much easier last year

I like it – especially once I’d turned off the time zone thing

    – see here

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/ios5-battery-drain

but I expect 5.1 will be along soon enough, so you could always wait for that

    my kids loved it

I liked it too – best movie Spielberg has done for years

I liked the “far fetched” level of the actions scenes – if they were too true to life then what would be the point of doing it as a cartoon/ motion capture

the scenes with the motorbike and sidecar, and the pirate ship flashback bit were both stunning

I went 3D for the fist time in a while – as I wanted to see if Spielberg could bring anything to it. He didn’t really – I still don;t like 3D

I’ve seen some ace films this year

we need to talk about kevin
    drive
    tyrannosaur
    melancholia
    kill list
    tree of life
    13 assassins
    attack the block
    blue valentine
    black swan
    tinker tailor

its been a pretty good year for movies so far I think

When you copy the music from the CD on iTunes, it should collect the album artwork automatically.

only if the CD is in the itunes store

    otherwise it doesn’t

I got a programme called “coverscout” in an application bundle thing I got a while ago – not sure if it’s mac only – or if its worth paying for, as its relatively easy to get the artwork in the manner described above – but coverscout makes the whole process of finding missing artwork nice and painless, especially if you are uploading lots of music in one go

copyright law means they are not allowed to leave in the music

they only have them for shows with lots of chat

if you want the music then use iPlayer instead

Graham S – go to Settings/ Location Services/ System Services – then scroll to the bottom. You may find (as I did) that the GPS Icon in the status bar has been deactivated (mine had)

I wondered why the GPS symbol was on even without any mapping ‘ware running. And yes you can carry a spare battery

it wasn’t for me – I’ve just realised thats because the GPS icon thing in the status bar had been switched off after the upgrade – got it switched back on now

Ooooooh – just noticed that I can now use any ringtone for my “text tone” – which means you can now use home made ones. Pretty sure that’s new – certainly couldn’t do it last time I tried

And what was that Nicole Kidman film about ghosts? The Classification Board admitted they got it wrong giving it a 12 rating (it disturbed me).

    “The Others”

My 12 year old is watching it in school this week – as part of their study of Gothic Horror in english. We had to sign a form to give permission. Hope it doesn’t give her nightmares. Having said that I remember watching the Exorcist and Nightmare on Elm Street etc at her age (round at a friends house, we didn;t have a VHS player for years!) and not really being effected. Probably helped that they were always watched during the day time

I agree about iphoto – gave up trying to set up a single library that multiple user logins could access from the same mac.

The solution was to get divorced – although this might be a bit extreme for you

I put mine in a defender case (without the front cover thing) and in a freezer bag whe riding off road – with the screen facing in. It’s far, far too bulky for day to day use.

I just go naked the rest of the time – and don’t put anything else in the pocket it’s in. I’ve had it over a year and it’s still as good as mint.

I always carry a freezer bag in my coat pocket in case of rain though.

Yep – it’s a sad shadow of it’s former self. I can’t really bare to watch the newer episodes

Series 3/4/5 was some of the greatest tv ever made though

richmtb – it is very similar plot and style wise to Michael Mann’s Thief, and the helicopter shots of LA at the start did remind me of Heat as well

It’s a really good film – second film this year to make me wince at scenes involving Hammers and head mashing, the other being “Kill List” which is also all kinds of ace

not sure if you are playing electric or acoustic – I prefer to use my fingers when playing acoustic and a pick when on the electric

As others have said – there is no “right” way, so if you are happier with finger style then do it,

You only really “need” a pick when you are playing proper riffy rock and metal (for the extra attack you get from the pick) IMO

The music is fine – but I agree with the 2 dimensional characters. But it is early days. I might watch disc 2 and see how i feel after that

I had no idea it had got to season 3 – I thought it was a single season thing!

Breaking Bad is ace – have you seen season 3 or 4? I have never used torrents but may have to resort to them as there is no sign of them coming to UK TV or DVD

I got the Bly ray of Leon recently – and found the extended cut a bit wrong and creepy. That film walks a fine line with the relationship between Leon and the girl, and IMO the extra scenes take it over that line.

Next time I watch it it will be the original theatrical version

If I had a time machine I would make it my priority to go see late 60s Dylan and early 70s van Morrison live

I have live CDs of them both to suggest they were amazing back then

I have 0 desire to go and see them in their current overpriced, awkward guises.

I haven’t looked at all the photos, but the couple I saw seemed to show people riding practical bikes as a form of transport, wearing the regular clothes they wear day to day. IMO this is “a good thing”. I wear a helmet/ Lycra etc if I’m “going for a ride” – but I also use my bike as a convenient way of getting around the city I live in. I just jump on wearing what I’m wearing. I don’t feel the need to cover myself in hi viz and helmets when I do this. More people should do this – more people should ride bikes. More people riding = safer roads, rather than a few people riding in dirty yellow macs and funny hats

Check out Laura Cantrell. Especially the “not the tremblin kind” and “when the roses bloom again” albums. Beautiful voice, great songs , bit of jangle. These albums never fail to make me happy
