Always wear a buff when out riding in the woods..

Then you can do what you want..

Push the old girl into the bushes.
Tie the dog to a tree and tease it with dog biscuits..
    Teach the guy a lesson..

Speed off into the sunset like a vigilante

I could machine volume spacers easily..
All I would need is some dimensions of the required spacer.. I’d say £5 each posted?

Can anyone who had the kashima upgrade on their RP2 post a pic of it please? I’d like to see how sexy it looks..

More importantly how much difference does it make?

Discapade..That’s just what I needed to read..
I’ve been pumping my RP2 up to 230 PSI to stop it blowing through is travel, it also wallows in its mid stroke..

On the other hand I’d like to upgrade the RP2 to a CTD and then get it pushed, although I can’t warrant that expense at the moment.

Which manual do I refer to for servicing? I can’t find a specific service manual for SID RCT3 dual air 2012..

    http://www.notubes.com/help_center_rim_strips.aspx

You need the stans standard rim strip kit…assuming you go down the stans route.
Regarding the tyre, I’d be warey of using a non tubeless ready tyre as my understanding is the bead is different..
Strengthened and also tighter on the rim according to schwalbe.

I have some tubeless ready racing Ralph’s, I can’t get these on without a tyre lever. However the non tubeless ready I can.

    Quick update..
Sent the wheel back to wicked who said they will process the wheel with hope under warranty.
Cost me £18 to send it 24hour service..
I asked if they could reimburse postage or stick some 15mm convertors in, they agreed to send 15mm convertors..

    Spoke to hope..
They said to send them in, but I have to cover the cost of shipping.

I normally keep boxes for a couple of weeks, but this time I chucked the wheel boxes in the bin!

Think I’ll give Hope a call and see what they say.
I’m more concerned with the gritty feel of the bearing..
Strange thing is.. if I take the end caps of and spin the bearing with my finger, it feels smooth either end.

It feels gritty when I hold both end caps and spin the wheel..
Maybe Hope will post me another set of bearings..

Cant remember where I read it, but someone was complaining that there’s wasn’t smooth. Hope sent new bearings, but it was still the same. Turned out the hub was out of tolerance, so they built him a new wheel with the old rim..

Regarding the trueness, I can just get it tweaked after a few rides..

Yoshimi – This is a front that’s not that true and gritty..
The rear is a lot better.

RobHughes – I got them from Wicked Cycles Cheapest I could fid on the net..

The only thing I can think of is when I mounted a tubeless tyre on and pumped it up to 35PSI, might have knocked it out of true?

Got my hope hoops Monday..Haven’t put them on my Anthem yet as I’m waiting for some new tyres to run tubeless on them (conti MK2 Protection Black Chilli)

I’ve put the stans yellow tape on the rim’s, had to have a play. So I mounted an unused Racing Ralph Evo Double Defence TL ready, that I meant to use during the summer.
Got it to go up no problem, didn’t use sealant as I wont be keeping them on. :)
Also put new RT86 rotors and an XT cassette on.

Balls…! I ordered 2 MK in protection black chilli flavour Thursday evening, from r2-bike.com.
£66 delivered, cheapest I could find..

Its funny how some people get on fine with some tyres and others cant..

I have some X kings that I’ve used all summer, even though I have a pair of new racing ralphs which I prefer.
Just couldn’t be bothered to change them over..

X Kings are fine in the dry, but I found they let go in the corners when the ground is either loose or damp.
In the mud there awful, they slip all over the place..

I might try the MK’s, problem for me is id like a mud tire but a lot of my local routes/trails involve some road riding up lanes..

Can I get a muddy Mary 2.3 on arch EX? Or is it a bit to large in profile to avoid burping running tubeless?
Secondly is a 2.3 to large to run on my anthem? Nobby nic 2.25 fit, but some tyres come up smaller/larger than others..

Can I throw a couple more tyres in the mix…dirty Dan and muddy Mary?

How well does a Hans dampf do in wet muddy conditions…not gloopy mud mind you..

Which of the 3 tyres mentioned are best for the current conditions wet and muddy?
I need some new tubeless tyres for my new wheels..
I have some old Nobby nics that aren’t tl ready, I always found they let go in the corners when it’s wet/muddy..

Why in stans video do they say drill the first valve hole only? I don’t see the point as the valve on the standard rim strip is the same thickness from top to bottom..So why so does that hole need to be widened?

    Goldigger
    Free Member

Just got my nobby nics out…there not TL ready!!
Will they still work tubeless? what’s the difference between a TL ready tyre and a non TL ready?
Is it just the bead and no holes in the carcass?

Watch out for bike thieves and make sure you buy and correctly display a parking ticket (see other Swinley threads, otherwise enjoy it

If your riding a 26er don’t worry about the bike thieves, as they’re only nicking 27.5 at the moment..

    Racing Ralph tl ready

Nuke, you and others have hit the nail on the head..Arch EX it is..thanks for the help guys.. :-)

Is there a reason why the hope pro 2 evo SP only come in black? Black isn’t bling :(

How many people ride bikes in conditions that are not what their bike was initially designed for? My anthem is my first full suss bike..if I had the choice of buying it now, I’d go with a trance.
If money were no object I’d have a different bike for the different trails I ride. One thing I do believe is that flows aren’t really at home on my anthem..but I don’t agree crests are the rim for the job here.

The reason why I don’t think crests are the answer is I’m 95kg naked and not the smoothest graceful rider.
Some of the hits I’ve encountered on my anthem I don’t know how the 719’s haven’t buckled..

    Don’t 821’s weigh the same as 819’s?

Personally I think the arch EX is the best bet for me..

    Winch..
I think 2.25 is about the limit in my anthem..
here’s some pics of the clearance I have with X King Protection 2.2, which come up smaller than nobby nic 2.25’s

Only problem is I can’t buy the EN821 with Pro 2’s off the shelf..
Not listed under CRC’s custom wheel builder or merlins!
probably going to be more expensive compared to a set of hope hoops..

    Goldigger

    Alexdudley,
You’ve thrown a spanner in the works!
I’ve only ever used mavic rims, those EN821’s look good!
But I’m assuming the 450grams is without the mavic pre nipples? so it will end up being heavier than an arch ex.
I think the pre nipples add another 50-60grams..

Which out of the arch or flow ex is comparable to XM719’s?
My 719 have been bulletproof since 2009, only thing I’ve noticed is the spoke tension needs some tweaking now..
I don’t use any tyres bigger than a 2.25, not sure if that’s a factor in choosing between the arch or flow?

    Goldigger
    Free Member

Arch EX it is then, thought flows are probably overkill for me..
    Thanks for your replies

What tyres are you guys using and any issues? Assuming your running tubeless?

Thanks again.. I was planning on getting last year’s dual sid revelation RCT3 140mm travel, 20mm maxel.
(option of fitting a 20mm spacer)
I googled your x-fusion fork and noticed it’s has 34mm legs.
Was one of the reasons you choose the fork because it’s a 34mm rather than 32mm? I’m wondering if the revelation might be to flexy?
Although the a 34mm fork is likely to cost me at a guess £200 more than the revs £314 price tag.

    Can I just confirm the headset is 1″ 1/8 – 1″ 1/2 taper? Noticed the complete bikes in the shops have 1″ 1/2 – 1″ 1/4

What’s the spec on your build? Looks nice
Looking at doing a build with the same 2013 frame as yours..

What size frame did you get? I’ve got an anthem 2009 26er medium, which is a perfect size for me being 5’9″ inside leg of 31″
Hoping you have a medium or a small, If you do can you measure the stand over height please?
