Currently rockin’ a temporary 27″@HD screen – iiyama E2773HDS – really nice midtones, very little colour banding and a good indication of how they handle midrange fast LCDs. Drawback is Res. and blacks aren’t very dark. I just messed with the colour controls in W10 to mostly fix it, but at the expense of a couple of lost shades of extreme pale grey.
The intention is to buy a 2.5K iiyama ProLite B2783QSU, maybe look into that?
I was using a Dell 2412 IPS, it was fast enough, but the 6-bit panel really messed up darker shades, greys would have brown/green bands at certain tones etc, it just wasn’t accurate enough to handle subtle colours, and even just gaming in dark corridors was sometimes like a hue-shift kaleidoscope.
What’s your hardware? EG I’m on SLI 970’s and 2.5K is high enough for me while keeping fast refresh rates and high post-processing options enabled.
G-Sync is suppoed to be good, but beware not all monitors offer a useful range of sync-refresh rates – paying 400 quid for G-sync monitors with a 48-75Hz range would be daft for example.
EDIT- RE HD, I am impressed how shed-loads of AA makes even HD look nice 🙂 Currently replaying Fallout 3 with 8xMSAA and it looks great. Amusingly also runs on one 970 without the fans even winding up 😀
