[quoteFollowing on from my previously successful/unsuccessful thread regarding trail centre bike vehicles (http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/trail-centre-vehicle-trends-this-week) I thought I’d give an update on the current styles you can expect.

Admittedly I only went in one part of the Nant Yr Arian car park as it was a bit chilly and I didn’t have a North Face puffa jacket on. But there was rich pickings in my section anyway.

Grey Vw T something. Points for on trend colour, private plate and “gives me something to moan about over a Frappuccino” dent in the rear. Could be more pimped though. As could the other two, who to be honest weren’t really trying that hard were they?

I have never once heard anyone say “I’m going out to do some Free riding” flatten the things and put the cash into developing or improving the trail network.

you don’t need books to tell you when to rest. If you’re body is sore, tired or you don’t feel to good then have a day off and if you feel good then crack on.

Is that race suppose to be enjoyable?

who in the right mind would pay to do that?

Clever lads that timed the market well. There beer is better than average and has clever marketing And in my opinion the majority of their beer is pretty decent and reasonably priced in comparison to some of the uk beer at the moment.

driven a T6 and a transit both good vans. Have owned a custom for over 3 years and I really like it although the finish/paintwork isn’t VW standard.
Can get the highest spec transit for a fraction of the cost thats what swayed it for me. New auto gearbox is coming out also.

It’s still £5500 for an aluminium single pivot which many will find hard to get their head around I think. Not saying it’s not awesome, I’ve not ridden it, but £5500 gets you a lot of carbon from boutique brands and that will be a challenge.

    That’s Tallboy/Hightower territory

The ‘Tour de Ben Nevis’ is a good ride though.

Depends what you consider to be a good ride. I would say otherwise…..

Much better riding around Kinlochleven and I would also head for Aviemore which has more than enough to kill 5 days. If you get the chance Dunkeld is well worth a visit.

With my cynic’s hat on, I’d suggest it may be a bit quieter, not a lot quieter. MTBers are not always the best at paying attention to closure signed and forestry operation notices.

They have went to the effort of building fences at each entrance. It’s only for a couple of months and it’s just thinning rather than felling apparently. Plenty of other trails around to keep folks entertained.

well worth a visit lift accessed steep, techy trails some of the best stuff I’ve ridden.
The bike park is nothing like your average bike park steep, techy and very natural feeling. Very similar to some stuff in the UK.

Pretty much but I always find it strange when people go on a cycling holiday and moan at having to pedal.
Bike Verbier are suppose to be excellent to go with I seen there chalet/workshp it’s rather impressive.

Verbier is amazing and even better if your willing to put in some effort.
Les Arcs and the surrounding area is also superb.

Spent a day in Pila and in my opinion it was a waste of time. Breaking bump central and all very DH so not my scene.
La Thuile on the other hand has some of the best lift accessed trails I’ve ever ridden all natural rocky rooty goodness and not a braking bump or table top in sight.

Nice one, I was going regardless just wondering if anyone had any advice on what trails to ride.

I have just had an x2 delivered by TF tuned set up for general trail riding. I will look out the settings when I get home.
It’s set up for my weight of 82Kg so i’m not sure if that will help you at all but it may give you a rough guide.

The hatred for Santa Cruz bikes tends usually comes from the people who want one but can’t have one. I’ve had a 5010 a tallboy LT and now a Hightower and I personally have enjoyed riding everyone of them.

Good customer service, free bearing replacement and a lifetime warranty in my opinion you get what you pay for and its obvious that many others share the same view.

After lots of swearing the best I could find was holiday safe insurance.
£90 for 5 weeks seemed very reasonable and I also ran out of patience.
