    Senna or Schumacher
    Both taken far too early*

(and yes I know Schumacher had stopped racing and isn’t physically dead yet)

I know, but he also tried some storm trooper esque ones which were too uncomfortable to wear for more than about 20 minutes. TBH, a broken collar bone / shoulder is more likely and there ain’t to protection for that :|

Junior has the Fox Launch Enduro offerings which he seems to like in an unobtrusive kind of way.

How about a shiny new Specialized Sirrus Disc?

That did cross my mind – maybe add a dynamo front wheel and lights.

That Kalkhof looks great – almost perfect, just need to check the weight, as she does fancy herself as a bit of a racing snake :?

There was obviously co-operation when the big diesel initiative was brought in, hard to imagine there aren’t similar conversations going on now regarding phasing out diesels and phasing in hybrids and ev’s.

I’d expect the relationships between oil companies and motor manufacturers to be more influential (to a point) than those with Governments.

I went through the same thought process at the back end of the summer. PCP + deposit was going to cost me at least £5k more than buying the current car outright, over 3 years – for a similar spec/mileage etc. Obviously, I have the gamble around the warranty, but its a risk I’m willing to take at the moment. I expect this to be my last ICE car though.

The whole system of land transactions in the England and Wales is still very paper based.

Scotland is getting there, but the focus remains that solicitors act as middlemen for all transactions, when you could question that for straightforward dealings, they are not required – once everything has been moved from Sasines to the Land Register that is.

I’m not sure why anyone would buy them outside of camping type use.

Greener innit – not as much water/weight, therefore lower transport costs and less packaging.

I like the steadyrack too – thought I’d seen a cheaper version, possibly a copy of it though, somewhere.

Thanks all. I like the look of the leonardo ones and they do a fat bike specific one, so I might go for a mixture.

    Lago di Como +1
Take the funicular up for superb views of the lake and then GI for a spin on the hydrofoil.
If you have more time, go to Bellagio.
Oh and Monza is worth a quick visit to gawp at the banked turns IMHO.

Thanks Dave B I’ve signed up me and the boy for Falkirk Funduro, so it will be good to see you there.

[/quote]No chance it was supposed to be goodnatured?

There’s always a chance, but unlikely and ill-judged if it was, given I was with my son.

If you are looking in shooting brake territory, it would be rude to ignore the Jag

I really like the new big volvos though

    It was me.
Junior borked a brake on his own bike on stage 2, so was on my hardtail (the yellow spesh fuse) after that.

BB hit the nail on the head with the sentiment, but they were actually chanting ‘cheat, cheat, cheat…..’
As the timed sections were all downhill, the weight of the bloody thing in the gloop meant that it was more a hinderance than an advantage. Hence my adrenaline and frustration fuelled question back to them about how I was a cheat – I should have just ignored them.

You know what you’re dealing with when their final retort was ‘it’s just banter’

It’s just a shame that junior had to witness it – despite being a strapping 6 footer, he’s only 13 and seeing his dad being abused made him want to abort. We didn’t though and both finished all timed stages without further incident.

I underestimated just how seriously some folk take these events; but the majority were very friendly despite that.

Thanks for the kind words on here and on the day.

I had a client who was pressed to do this. Nicer house came up that morning and I told the sellers solicitor that morning that my client wasn’t proceeding as his clients removers had up and were on their way to Scotland.

If that’s the case then surely it’s her solicitor’s fault for allowing such a clause to be in the missives….

Well, that was interesting. Managed to complete all 6 stages, which was all I was really hoping for, the boy managed to stack badly on stage 2 and had to bring into play the spare bike. It was steep, slippy and rooty – fun though (mostly).

Get some training – use and maintenance and get decent PPE.
Training could be a course or from a friend (mine was) and understand your limitations.
I only use mine for cross cutting; not felling as I wouldn’t know where to start.
I’m more afraid / dislike using the angle grinder than the chainsaw.

Registers of Scotland also hold a crofting register on behalf of the Crofting Commission. It might be worth a search on there too.

Bunks are only good until the kids grow. Our eldest at 13 is now too long for most caravan bunks – weight would be borderline too. We ended up with a six berth to get the long enough single beds for them. We keep ours on a seasonal pitch though – not sure I’d want to tour with it, even if I had a vehicle big enough to manage it properly.

If there’s a house on the land (unsure from your op), and it is rented out, then it should be registered on the landlord register with contact details for the landlord.

What value is spending two hours a day sat in traffic doing naff all except polluting?

That just gets us back to the live where you work debate.
And anyway, a developer of your prowess should understand the value of pair programming / mobbing – pretty difficult to do when not co-located.

Remote working is not working for megacorporations as they don’t get enough control over employees. Companies with good employer – employee relations should be able make it work.

    The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
