    Exactly as 2POC says.

Windwave sorted me out with awesome customer service!

Echo both these comments – springs are hard to come by.

Also seen the vacuum trick used before!

Check the exhaust manifold for cracks. If you get slight fumes in the cabin – it’s gone. To replace it you need the front of the van off – expensive!

Also, dual-mass flywheel go about 80,000 miles – check if this has been done. Needs to be replaced along with the clutch. More pennies!

Got an 08 T5 130 T32 LWB myself and converted it to have 6 seats and a bulkhead. Love it!!!

    That’s horrific. Wish I hadn’t seen this.

Duh, sorry – as gt900uk says – it’s from the rebound assembly!

This happened to mine. It’s because the oil from the damper is leaking into the lowers causing hydraulic lock so you can’t get full travel. Needs a damper service or possibly a new MOCO cartridge.

    Good luck!

If you can stretch to it, plump for these:

Not sure about the RLO versions but the RC3 Ti ones are just incredible.

From other comments, the air Marzocchis can be a wee bit sticky, the coil ones are just awesome though.

    Standard 1 1/8 steerer I think.

And be careful – the 3-year warranty isn’t applicable on American purchases…

    Fox in overpriced shocker.

Wonder if you’ll need to strip and grease it every 15 hours of riding as well? And even if you do when it packs in and blows oil all over your frame it’ll be your fault. Oh but you can have a ‘Kashima upgrade’ for a mere £200 – getting the user to pay for rectifying a design flaw.

No thanks, I’ll stick with my Gravity Dropper.

I’d imagine they’re trying to generate interest in the DH1 series and website.

    Get buying!

    Note – 44 Micro Ti’s are not the same as 44 RC3 Ti’s!

Heard a few bad comments about the Micros but can’t fault the RC3s.

    Agreed.

Marzocchi will outlast Fox and RS offerings by miles.

Performance is incredible – I have 2 pairs.

3-year no service warranty. I don’t hear Fox offering that…

    Do it!

I won the TransProvence in 2010.

    My legs still hurt!

Yep – I looked at them also. Keen to drop the BB a wee bit too though, hence why the offset bushes made sense to me.

Think one for the other end of the shock instead might be the way forward!

Thanks for the replies folks – to reply to a few:

    z1ppy, flow, steve_b77:

I’ve had nothing but good service from Nicolai UK and also from Gravity Sports (distributor I used) but not saying others haven’t! I’m also aware that I’ve technically invalidated the warranty by using offset bushes. Bad me! I’m not looking for a warranty replacement – just more curious as to if anyone else has seen this.

    IA:

I only have an offset bush on the lower (shaft) end of the shock. What you say makes sense, I think this is what has happened. And no wear on the shock. The bit that rubs the frame is actually the spacers each side of the shock between it and the seatstay attach point.

Think the only thing to do here is just clean it up and move on! The damage isn’t massive so hopefully should be ok. Might look for an offset bush for the top bushing instead though…

OK, forks are not the dual spring type so have to stick with the medium spring for now.

Nothing else buggered internally so thanks for the offer of the forks Rusty Mac but I’m ok for now.

    Cheers for the advice peeps!

    Oops – just re-read the title – 44s are 15mm.

Running 2 sets of Marzocchi 44 RC3 Ti. One set is 140mm (2010) and other is 150mm (2011).

Both faultless, fit and forget. Mega-plush, mega adjustable and way lighter than the Pikes they replaced.

Oh and 3-year no-service warranty. In your face, Fox!

    Do it!

Rustymac – thanks for that – forks in the shop tomorrow – will let you know!

    crashtestmonkey – that’s interesting – didn’t know that. Will investigate…

    Cheers all!

That’s the ones – I think they’re pretty similar over the years, not much change.

I’m afraid I’m only really after the spring – will let you know. They’re going in for a service today so if anything else is dead, I may take them off your hands.

    Thanks!

    Hmm – nice job there!

Thanks for that – browsing now.

I’d ideally like to have rubberised flooring in the mid-section as is already the front – I’ve heard the VW stuff is hard to source so might do it myself…

Why not get some 44 RC3 Tis? Running these on my PA and they’re perfect. Fit and forget too.

Correct. It just steers round the rocks!

Yeah, I had problems with mine, new bearings would sort it but only for a very short while. Grrr.

Getting new forks (new Pikes) solved it for a while.

Getting some Marzocchi 44 RC3s solved it for good!

Seems to be very user-specific though – some folk get on fine.

Why are you running them with a Reba anyway?!

Check the frame alignment. Intense bikes are renowned for back and front ends not lining up.

My mate snapped the front end of his Socom and the new one they sent was so bad he couldn’t actually fit it to the rear end!

If the shock is being compressed at an angle, this could cause spiking and shock damage. Just a thought…

    Shimano.

After seeing my mates sail onwards maintenance-free as I bugger about with mine on the trails, I’m about to go Shimano.

Avid are an arse to bleed and have loads of cavities for air to be trapped so even when you think you’ve got the air out, you invert the bike and the lever pulls to the bar. Not a winner. They actually admitted this was a fault in previous models when promoting their latest offerings! How shoddy is that!

    Shimano for the win!
