Sorry I’ve been on my jollies, but there has been some news.

I got an email from the bus company last week and called them back on Monday.

They’ve reviewed the footage and have found the driver was clearly in the wrong and are now in the process of taking action against him. But unfortunately I’ll never know what that ‘action’ is and the outcome of it due to employment laws ect. Which is a shame as I feel I should have a right to find out. Could I ask for a written apology or would that be a violation of his human rights?

I’ve requested the CCTV footage as well which I have to pay £10 for (not happy about that, but will do) and will pass it on to the Police – who have decided there is not enough evidence to pursue a conviction. Hopefully with this additional footage they will change their minds. However I somehow doubt it.

I can try though. For the bus company to side with me clearly shows this driver has issues and needs to be sorted out.

So that’s everything for now, I’ll post the footage up when I get it, if the police still feel it’s not worth pursuing. It won’t be a impressive as the Chinese stunt driver pics though.

I’d like a tour of the Holland’s pie factory, especially the cheese and onion wing/conveyor/machine.

As for the OP; I’m looking forward to not reading this as much not reading anything else in the mag. I only do a digital sub to support the forum.

Depends on the the size of frame it’s going on. You can measure the exposed length of your existing post height.

I bought a 125mm drop 380mm length and it just about fits on my bike which is a medium frame. The collar is about 1″ above the seat binder so there’s a lot of post in the frame.

What was wrong with the Pace your were selling as it sounds ideal. It’s a 31.9 seat post but that’s easily shimmed.

Not 100% sure about getting a 2.4″ Albert in the back though.

In my completely subjective opinion I can wholeheartedly recommend a MET Kaos.

On One had them half price a while ago.

Not a good start, [just saying] maybe ignore traffic behind you and concentrate on it in front. [/just saying]

I’ll have a custard cream if there’s any going.

8000 miles is only 22 miles a day.

since you put it like that.

    OP, 8000miles is that all?

Maybe he thought the tyre was a bit soft and he’d hump it up for the owner.

8000 miles! How come you get to ride so much?

Do you work, are you single, are you independently wealthy, do you have other commitments?

It’s serious question and in no way romantically inclined.

That’s what riding is summers for isn’t it to work on your bike tan and prove you’ve got the miles in.

That picture was like parts of Epping yesterday and it’s not rained that much recently either.

    When’s the summer coming?

Maybe the shoes are too small.

I bought some road shoes in 42 and they were good on the right but not on the left foot.

Exchanged them for 43’s and the left is better but the right is loose. Shame they didn’t come in half sizes as that would have been perfect.

I’m assuming an away trip to the Alps / North is on the cards then? Surely not those tyres for your / our local area?

Hey Kryton, yes 4 days in the Alps including PPS on Friday, then come back and up to North Wales for a week.

    Really looking forward to it.

That’s cheating! There should be a continuous length of tape from start to finish, with no patching.

Depends on the tyres and how well they seal. My Hutchinson Toro USTs were sat for a couple of months in my garage and lost about 5psi, whereas Kenda SB8s lose about 5psi a week.

2 ply Minoin Front and High Roller rear, so not UST/Tubeless tyres.

Sorry Stimpy I wasn’t clear, I did do the whole soaping, wiping shaking, laying thing for ages especially on the rear as I had a battle with it to inflate.

It’s been about 4/5 weeks since I’ve ridden the bike and it’s been sat there doing nothing.

I’ve pumped them up now and will be riding tomorrow so that should see if they’ll hold.

Have you got plenty of sealant in them?

I put plenty sealent in as I bought a big bottle.

Did you do lots of shaky shaky and lying them on their sides when setting them up?

Yes, watched the Stans vid and did exactly as he did. There was nothing air escaping at the time.

There were loads of foam on the actual sidewalls I could see them fizzing so I’m guessing it might be from there.

As long as they don’t got flat riding, I’m happy.

I rewrapped my bars last weekend from the drop to the stem.

There’s no gaps but the they don’t finish evenly, like Oldgits above. There’s more bar showing on the left than right.

So next time I’m going to wrap it from the stem as it seems more logical and I’ll have an even gap on both sides.

Looks like I’m being anal as well.

What is the point of a legal system!!!!!!

To protect motorists at any cost it seems

This just further illustrates the fact that most judges and juries are biased towards motorists and is proof of how low cyclists are in the pecking order.

    Sad.

Is Halfords saying leaving bikes on the middle of road and running off to get an ice cream ok?

It’s just dangerous! I mean they already caused one pile up.

Reckless behaviour – totally spoilt the advert for me.

Where you setting off from? You could venture out towards Epping it’s a lot greener and there’s less traffic with benefit of real countryside.

Now, from drivers perspective … people can make mistakes, when office worker spills coffee on keyboard all it takes is just replace new keyboard. No fuss.

When driver makes a silly mistake, it can go very wrong. It’s a bit complicated to explain what makes people become cowboys at driving but there are good and bad drivers.

The thing is if it was a mistake, I wouldn’t have started this thread, he knew exactly what he was doing. H e was teaching me a lesson for ‘taking up too much space’. The minute I saw him pull up next to me I have an inkling what he would do. However I didn’t for one minute think he’d actually do it, if I didn’t stop he would have knocked me off.

That kind of behaviour is unacceptable, that’s why I’ve made a complaint. I have no doubt in my mind he’ll teach other cyclists a lesson and they might be so lucky – it could even be a child’s face next time!

I’ve already filed a complaint with TFL and have contacted the bus company for CCTV

I’ll report it on the way home.

    Thanks for all the advice.

Just been on the phone to the bus company to ask for CCTV and got the run around. They wouldn’t even give me the Accident Prevention officers name.

They only keep the footage for 5 days as well, which is very handy for them and apparently they don’t know how many number 19 busses were running in Piccadilly between Fortnum and Mason at about 8.45 this morning.

Does anyone know who I ask for street CCTV footage, is it the Local Council?

    eyerideit

Under the data protection regulation cctv is regulated and you can ask for cctv dvd off the bus, and any street side cctv, but you need to do it quick and in writing, incase it gets wiped.

I think I will ask for some CCTV, this guy is bloody dangerous. That’s what made me so angry, he wanted to knock me off.

Agreed. My commute from South Woodford to Farringdon always felt safer in zones one and two. Once in more suburban areas speeds increased and awareness seemed to decrease.

Agreed people east or Hackney generally drive like d1cks, I hate Lea Bridge Road but have to ride it twice a day.

    New frame?

    There’s a thought, I quite fancy a HD.

    Zip-tie and a washer.

Sounds good I’ll try that. I was thinking 2 zip ties looped together, but your suggestions sounds better.

Expect a ‘What titanium washer thread’ immanently.

Your Reverb should’ve come with piggy-back guides

It’s one of the OEM ones from On One so it came in a bag with the post, remote and one zip tie / guide.

I’m planning on a 1×10 setup eventually but I’m sorting the bike out for a mince in the Alps next week.
