So if I’m running 2x now…if i put a narrow /wide on the front what would the lowest gear be like in comparison to my current setup? Or is this a pointlessley hypothetical question?

Or, could I pretend to be your wife @morecashthandash and just get a new xt set posted to me? :D

Senior J – you ask for alternatives.. How about instead of spending money on jets and bombs etc , we spend it on internal security? That way we ramp up our own protection and don’t harm innocent people or potentially make the situation worse…I’m no expert though so just a personal opinion…

@trademark – if I remember rightly all the sizing guides say they’re your ‘normal size’ and this has been my experience too.

My Celsius boots have plenty of room for thicker socks and are the same size as my everyday shoes – unlike the Shimano MTB shoes that were too small in my ‘everyday’ size..

Wanted to share a great homemade energy bar recipe i found…

I’ve been using this for a while. It’s got roughly the right ratio of carb and protein if you work out the size you need per hour. Recommend using really good peanut butter.

    Cheers for suggestions.

    @tomb – I’ll try question here then.

We have a really good, newish, Hummax freeview box with large disk capacity for recording. Feeview has all the channels we’ll ever need (in Freeview’s curent capacity).

Therefore, all we need is a new tv (region of £250-300) that’ll work well with it. Won’t be looking to hook up to the internet etc.

Any suggestions? On initial browsing I fear we’ll be paying for technology we won’t use or already have, that will then detract from potential quality of actual tv within our price range..

Hmm, is it waffle to point out that if average wages fall, poverty, as commonly measured, goes down?

@nifan – good point well made, in defence of not cutting public services and how the figures will hide the fact levels of poverty will get worse…

The government (understandably) cannot get their heads around the fact/deal with the fact, that they are up against an ideology.. It doesn’t have a central point to go and kill (like a Hollywood villain lair)..its an ideology that is internalised anywhere on the globe…and then secular groups perform their own acts….it’s pretty scary really…

It was my first long session and I put a thread up else where as a result of getting seriously numb nuts…when I come to do that length of time again I’ll have to change something to avoid numbness..

Re indoor/out…everybody’s reason for turbo work is contextual…

    Possum

So, obviously depends on what you want you it for. I have the Alpkit possum frame bag for my longer rides and as a bag it’s great – well built, easy to use, unobtrusive..it will easily carry what you listed. Depends on frame size how it’ll for with your water bottle
.these things are never simple :D

Haha… you clearly haven’t read the data and are now just trying to justify your crassness with waffle….

@THM – the fact you’ve not replied can only lead me to assume you were trolling… trolling on child poverty?..very crass…

    edenvalleyboy

@THM …wow, what part of the info on child poverty seems OK to you? It was improving until 2010…then flatlined and is now projected to get worse again..

Well, it is a fact that they projected it …it’s also a fact I like your posts, they make me chuckle.. :D

Some facts relating to child poverty in the UK…e.g. As a direct result of tax and benefit decisions made since 2010, the Institute for Fiscal Studies project that the number of children in relative poverty will have risen from 3.6m to 4.3 million by 2020.

I had an impromptu road trip around that area a few years ago. Drove in and camped in the valley..there was a lot of space for camping and well set up for it..probably quiet due to spring time and still snow around, so not sure about booking for summer time…after a couple of days on the way out I parked the van up in a layby..but there were signs saying I shouldn’t..again, in summer time I’m sure I wouldn’t have got away with it..

Lovely place to camp but I guess not as relaxed as the Lakes for wild camping and impromptu van parking…

What do people watch whilst on the turbo?

So, I’ve departed the Sufferfest videos because following a TR plan. Yesterday, 2 hour session on the turbo and had UCI youtube on and some music..was ok but became a bit dull…

What do people watch? Any inspirations out there? Or, is that the nature of the longer sessions and I just have to suck it up?

I thought if a photo is on flicr you lose rights to it? One reason I don’t use that platform.. I’ll be happy to be told differently if’m wrong…

A post-session massage of the area should sort you out. Ideally by your partner. neighbour…

Wow – that sounds better than fixing the saddle…. :D

@eddie11 – have all the children we want so least no concerns there…

Like others have said..see the GP if you wish or the cranial person.
Have to say though..seems that many people kinda forget the early period once they’ve been through it and it’s not discussed much.

It really is a difficult time..I hated it. Really tough on all concerned. But, it does get better. Just not as quickly as you’ll want unfortunately…good luck to you…

Six months is still very young. In our experience it can take up to eighteen months for things to properly settle down..not what you to hear I’m sure.

If things get really rough, stick locks on the windows..so you cannot throw him/her out when you go really doolally from sleep deprivation… :D

So yes, the perilous state of the UK economy can be placed firmly at the door of the Labour party.

    Wow.

Everybody in a position of power (all political parties), bankers and economists can be held responsible in some way. Many economists even admit they didn’t see it coming (and they’re the supposed to be experts).

b r – since rural bus services are discussed in just about every community meeting.. can you put a link to the minutes of the village meeting, of where you work, where everyone said they wouldn’t use it…instead of posting wiki references which we all know is invalid as a reference tool…

The 33 year old Doctor with a brand new M6, 3 houses, who’s simultaneously planning his ski trip, is getting less response than he probably wants to his endless personal Facebook campaign.

I hope you don’t work in research…with a style of using one, very exaggerated case outside of the norm, to generalise from..very 1970’s… :D

Jambayla you’re a Tory party wet dream. I genuinely hope your part of the top table or your blinkedly being dicked over like the rest of us, but fighting their corner for them… :D

mrmo – its not in the politicians interest to deal with housing benefit. Many of them (one quarter of Tories) are landlords and rely on housing benefit to pay their tenants rents…oh hang on, does that mean Tories are benefiting from the welfare state? Surely not…oh hang on, didn’t they too use all the expenses (taking from the state again) to supplement their wages? Hypocrites…

I hope those who question the validity of libraries do not then criticise sections of the public for not achieving enough..books and libraries are core elements to education – cut libraries and you limit the potential for mass education..the hypocrisy of some of the policies is ridiculous…

Apparently too many copies of 50 shades of grey were published (to sell in motorway services etc). So they ended being used as/turned into part of the tarmac for our motorways… :D

If you walk away now you can keep your head held high and be the bigger man in all of this…grass him up and the situation may become a bit rubbish for you and you could loose some of the moral ground, which may well pee you off even more…I’d leave it.

I got the elite chrono fluid elastogel on the basis of nearly 1000 positive reviews on wiggle

    +1

I have this too – fine for me – be aware you have to buy, additionally, the cadence & speed sensor and dongle to hook up to trainer-road if you wanted that data…

@ferrals – something that I’ve found that constantly keeps injuries away too is stretching – I’m a bit evangelical about it. Proper stretching routines on my non biking days seems to work wonders….highly recommend this book.

@whitestone – I can see how rest is important – started the first proper ‘sustained power build’ session yesterday and can see/feel that if I give it my full effort each time I’ll need to allow proper recovery days too.

I think it was you who recommended that training program – it definitely felt like it was the kind of session I’m looking for…in a perverse kind of way :D
