Can’t see past Djokovic myself, though I’ll be delighted if Murray beats him. Putting Nadal out in straight sets is just scary…

“Slow the f*** down” from a pedestrian waiting to cross at some lights while I was on the road. Eh naw mate, see those big shiny metal things, they’re the ones you have to worry about.

I know, I’m a 650b fashion victim myself! Thanks both, that’s a bit more than I thought it’d be worth so I should be able to shift it for a price i’m happy with.

    Thanks for the input njee…

Someone posted a pedal that had cleats on one side and flats on the other a day or two ago. Will see if I can dig it out…

Sounds like you’ve been more than fair. Best way might be to try and kill her with niceness. I’d maybe invite her round for tea, let her air her grievances and then explain all the ways that you’ve tried to accommodate her through the process, even though you didn’t technically have to. Might also be worth showing her the plans she approved and how what was built corresponds to those plans.

If she’s still being a moany old moo after that I’d tell her that it’s up now, it ain’t coming down, so she can either deal with it or move!

I’d say about £50 depending on how well you know them and if you’re there all day or evening only. I always prefer when people ask for cash, makes life so much easier!

Erm, usually when the pad wears so much that the disc starts catching on the springy thing…

We have a board in our office with a list of them, the highlights (and translations) are:

Shovel-ready – projects we’ve won and are ready to get started on
    V2V – a phone call (FFS!)
Diarised – put it in your diary
Bandwidth – how much free time we have for new projects
Ideation – who the f*** knows, can’t you just say “let’s have a think about it”?

While not a buzzword, a personal bugbear of mine is “verbiage”, which seems to be used by (US) clients to mean “words”, as in “can we change the verbiage here?”. It’s not big and it’s not clever. Plus it’s 3 syllables rather than 2, so it’s actually more work to say…

    Public Service Broadcasting.

    Loved this!

Thanks everyone, now to make a rather large playlist on Spotify!

Have you listened to any of the solo Thom Yorke or Atoms for Peace?

Yeah, love The Eraser, will need to check out Atoms for Peace and J Dilla.

    Rammstein

I feel like that would result in some very angry emails to clients… I do like them when working out though!

Will definitely give the others a try. Love Sonos, but the problem with it is that you don’t get any artist radio or recommendations when using Spotify through it.

Sounds like you’re tensing up and going a bit rigid on the landings.

Are you lifting/bouncing your feet off or are they slipping? I know you said your pedals/shoes were fine, but I thought I had good grip with an old pair of vans and v8’s until I got 510s and Vaults! Whole different world of grip!

+1 for what wilko said, practice going off kerbs. Get your dominant foot forward and stay loose.

Good point, the SLX one might be a better shout!

Thanks, the BB is included with the crankset so should be fine.

Would I also have to change my front derailleur (SRAM X5) or will it be fine with the change in crankset? It’ll be going from 34/22 to 38/24.

Thanks all, think I’ll get it and just run the old crankset into the ground then replace!

+1 for what Zinaru said, it’s as expensive as you want to make it, but it’s a massive part of my life so I’d happily pay whatever I needed to.

Back of the envelope calculations for me (bike+maintenance/parts+petrol+parking fees over 4 years) show that it’s about £40 per week. As it keeps me out of the pub on a Friday night in anticipation of the next day I reckon I’m actually saving money!

Oh yes…. tell me about thos little bodges that take so long to put right because the previous owner couldn’t be bothered to do them right….

The blackened cave containing an old rusty water tank that the previous owner had been too lazy to take out when they got a new boiler was a personal favourite…

I originally thought ours would take a week and it ended up taking 2. You end up wasting so much time on trips to B&Q because something doesn’t quite fit right, etc! Was done by my Dad who has a lot of experience with DIY, but we’d just bought the house and didn’t realise how many little surprises the house had in store for us!

@Jujuuk68 why so angry? To a lay reader most of what the OP was having a mild rant about seems pretty reasonable!

OP, glad you got it sorted and the bikes are getting replaced. Can’t imagine being without mine for 2 months!

I have the Altura ProGels (came with the Apex baggies), they’re pretty good and I’ve no complaints with them. They may not be as breathable as you’d like, tend to end up with a sweat-soaked a***-pad on warm days.

What kind of food you looking for? EastZEast is about a 10 min walk from Victoria and does a nice curry. There’s going to be a bit of a walk to get to anywhere decent to eat from a tram/bus stop too, I’d recommend just jumping in a taxi and going somewhere nice!

Been meaning to check out parks and recreation, thanks,

First season is a bit hit and miss (as with most sitcoms), but it picks up in the 2nd season and the 3rd is excellent.

This sums up the lifespan of sitcoms excellently:

American sit-coms, in the main are shite. Over acted, full of canned laughter and prescriptive. The “jokes” are almost always telegraphed.
The only two I’ve enjoyed were community and arrested development.

Loved those two (apart from the final netflix season of AD). 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation are worth a watch too if you like that sort of thing.

Awful awful awful. And sexist. And short person ist, Chineseist etc etc. No racial or class stereotype is left unexplored.

+1 – It’s like they set out to make a parody of all the various “isms” in sitcoms but forgot what they were doing half way through.

Funnily enough, I gave a guy at llandegla my emergency 650b tube for his 26er at the weekend as he’d completely blown out his rear tube and had no spare. Figured it would be good enough to get him round the last few kms, but I’ve no idea if he made it round or not!

Check with BPW if the bikes are tubeless or not, if not I’d recommend a patch kit, tyre levers, and a pump.

You can buy single uplift tickets on the day at BPW, though riders with a day pass get priority. We did it the day after a full uplift day and managed to get on every bus though.

Thanks both, think that’s good advice and I might just go for the stop crashing course 1st. Never done a skills course before, so I think my worry about being bored is based on my GF’s experience of snowboarding lessons where if you end up with a weaker group you can suffer as they soak up more of the instructors time. Though I’d imagine Ed would be more engaged than a bored French dude who’s giving the same lesson for the millionth time that season!

I have the 2014 Heckler, if what you’re looking for is something that climbs better than what you have then I’d give it a miss. Not that it’s bad at it, but I doubt it would be any better than yours as it’s nothing special going uphill. I love mine, but then I bought it for the descents!

Yeah, had something similar about 2 years ago after a bug. Not much for it but to take it easy and just gradually work your way back to full fitness. Annoyed the hell out of me at the time!

That would make more sense than some of the reasons I’ve seen bandied about (hurts more if you fall off, etc). Having been unexpectedly dumped in a bog myself I’m now ultra-cautious any time I’m up there!

The knee pads thing was an April fool. I think they’ve had repeated requests for chicken wire on the boardwalk due to people falling off but don’t want to put it in, so it’s become a bit of a running joke.

Thanks all, thought as much but was trying to be optimistic! Not rode Inners for years so it’ll be good to go back there anyway.

@murf, given how long it took me to make a fairly minor adjustment to my gears at the weekend I reckon you’ll be better off without me!

+1 for the 5450s. Been great for me so far and, as has been said, I pretty much forget they’re on once I’m riding. Also have left and right written clearly on them which is more useful than you’d think :D
