so the best thing to do is wear baggies and have a dropper post

that way you don’t look like a gimp and can handle steep / techy terrain

    If you read MBUK, yes.

Can you hold pencils under them?

No No they may descend fast for someone with a high saddle but they wont be proper quick.

Bet they will be quicker than the majority that own dropper posts though.

Packing = lycra, lacking = baggies.
Packing = seat up, lacking = mincy dropper post

    I rest my case 😉

apparently the freehubs get damaged if you dont use a high end cassette

Hope freehubs are bad for that too, you pays your money, you take your choice.

Lots of reports of them cracking on here recently.

Personally I’d sell the pair and buy a short travel trailbike like an ST4 or a spearfish if you are liking the big wheel ting.

By lots do you mean one?

Flows with dual ply tyres and DH tubes, you wont notice the difference 😆

Gotta laugh at smart ass Al’s change of stance, it was only last year he was saying:

    Look up moment of inertia.

If acceleration didnt matter then you wouldn’t know the difference between a light and heavy bike

    do try harder!

LOL you are arguing this without even understanding the physics?
Let me help you. I’m not saying it’s significant – just that gram for gram you’ll feel weight loss more at the rim/tyre than static weight

    you’re probably trolling anyway.

Everyone can see you started the childish insults Al, likely because you are unable to explain your thinking. Looking at the other thread its obvious that you really don’t know what to believe 🙄

He’s said lighter wheels feel faster, no evidence they are faster.

    I say that too…

Basic physics say they accelerate and decelerate faster Al, leave the science to the adults.

has anyone owned a 29er and hated it?

Why not try one and form your own opinion instead of buying a bike based on the opinions of others – may as well save time and get an Orange 5 🙄

    29″ is a revelation….. Discuss…….

Yeah until you get bored of your new ride and revert back to small wheels. 🙄

Why are you always so negative about 29ers GG, too short to ride one?

Oh dear, pic in small front ring & poor tyre logo alignment, apart from that its lurverly 😮

Double specific mechs tend to have smaller cages, I have an xtr one and the cage is really short giving plenty of clearance with big tyres on a 29er.

Out of interest what do you ride kudos100?

Very windy, but I’ve cycled in far worse conditions that never merited the “Windageddon” warnings that were being broadcast today

Things were a little different in the west where the strongest winds were predicted though 😯

Gotta love some of the ill informed opinions on this thread 😆

I always slightly overtension and use threadlock on Stans builds as the lower spoke tensions they specify generally result in wheels that lose tension quickly with the flex.

I swapped DT supercomp spokes on an 29er arch build to DT comps and the difference was night and day.

The damping and small bump compliance on the 44s makes even the Reba with Black Box feel a little lame. Not tries a Fox, but for the price they charge, they would have to be something pretty special!

I have the Niner ones, which are really nice but only 710 wide. Dont think there are many much wider.
