    Budget?

I’ve been happy* with MPow Cheetah http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mpow-Cheetah-Headphones-Microphone-Hands-free-Bluetooth-Stereo/dp/B00OH9IB8I Comfortable, easy to use good battery life

*my first set did fail before the first charge and I returned for a refund. They then contacted me and gave me a free set in return for a review. Make of that what you will but I’m still happy with them 9 months later

@kermit doesn’t do mapping but will do turn-by-turn navigation with a third party app – not the wahoo one but another one

I did look at the Wahoo thingy, but I never managed to get to the bottom of whether it would support my ANT+ cadence and HR sensors, so didn’t risk it.

The Wahoo doesn’t support ANT+ etc. per se. It connects with your phone by Bluetooth to display what’s on your phone: speed, distance, cadence, heart rate etc..

So if your phone can connect to the sensors then they can be displayed on the Wahoo. Does that make sense?

I use a Wahoo! REFLKT – basically acts a s a display for my phone while my phone sits safe and dry in a pocket or backpack

The bearings in my road bike are sounding more graunchy than my knackered old knees…I’ll get another season out of them

    The knees or the bearings

7 posts in and nobody has pointed out the folly of riding without a helmet!

What is this place coming too?

Most of my bikes run full length outers – they were designed that way but they are effectively just ziptied or clipped to the frame but they don’t lever against the frame.

    Singular Swift?

Been with them for 3 years now and all problems have been dealt with as well as any other provider that I’ve been with

Not sure that this thread would inspire me to buy a Canyon! At a rough count there were 11 warranty issues on 20 bikes! Their service may be good but it does look like a lot of issues!

Before anyone jumps in I do realise that it’s a pretty self selecting group, what I am sure is the vast majority of owners who’ve had no problems haven’t weighed in….

Like the others I have no problems with an oval ring on my SS with EBB

How are you coping with the climb at the moment?

If you’re managing it I wouldn’t put anything bigger on at the back or you’ll just spin out on the flat. If you’re finding them easy then a smaller cog will make you faster on the flat. And if you’re struggling MTFU persevere, you’ll get stronger and it’ll get easier.

These guys are often recommended http://securityforbikes.com/

I’ve got locks, chain and ground anchor from them and they certainly look pretty tough

How low is low? I’m running 8psi.

Really depends on a number of factors: how heavy you are, how wide your tyres are and the trail conditions.

For me at 11 stone (OK 11.5 :) ) and Nates on dryish trails – remember them anybody? – I run about 11psi

On One (and other places) often sell a set of tools that should help with most jobs for around £30. Quality is OK then you can upgrade the tools with a decent one as you wear them out/break them.

Or if you have some tools just buy decent ones as you need them

Don’t worry about it as long as long as the chain’s not coming off. A lot of people, myself included, run oval chainrings on a singlespeed with no issues and I’ll bet the change in tension is a lot more pronounced.

I’m a little biased (OK, more than a little…) but since riding the Kite disc I’ve had to re-think my answer to the ‘if you could only have one bike’ question. I like it, a lot. And I think once we get some folks out on them they will too

Sam – how would you describe the difference between the Peregrine and the Kite?

Geometry figures for the Peregrine are no longer on your site but I was thinking in more general terms?

This is all useful, thanks. I’m looking at new frames when the current one goes. The Singular Swift is a contender but I’ve always been a little wary of EBBs.

Like nedrapier I’ve got 3 Singulars with the Phil Wood and they’ve all behaved flawlessly. Wouldn’t give it a second thought if you’re after a Swift.

If you’re comfortable on a Brooks then yes. I find them very comfy, others a torture

No, if the phone had no space to store it the ride data won’t have been recorded anywhere. It is only stored on Strava when you upload, until that time it will only exist on your phone.

Another vote for the Mio – I’ve got the Link which the website says is ANT+ but I’ve only used with Bluetooth but its great: more comfortable than a chest strap, good battery life seems to be fairly accurate as well.

Is that Superstar kit suitable to remove hub bearings as well?

Kinda hijak – why do people love them? Never ridden one so curious…what’s their niche?

I ride mine for much the same reason as I ride my other bikes; because it’s fun!

Have you paired it with your phone? Think you need to use the Wahoo! app for that.

If it can’t see Wahoo! it will shut down to save battery

Cool, thanks. Does it show battery status somewhere on the unit?

No, just the phone battery status as far as I can see

I’ve got the standard RFLKT (not the +) and it’s great. Mine doesn’t have the barometer so I can’t comment on that. Connects fine with my phone, even in a back pocket. The phone is the ‘master’ data source and just displays the data from the phone so connectivity is dependant on the phone.

The Wahoo! app controls what is displayed so that you can customise the screens.

Ive just gone down from 105 to Tiagra and can honestly say I don’t notice the difference. If it were ,e I’d buy the better frame with the better kit and upgrade later if I wanted.

Have you recently updated the firmware? Someone was complaining on another forum that the latest firmware update had messed up their Garmin.

    Boiling water.

Being STW someone has to post a totally opposite suggestion :)

Try freezing. I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago and got one of those kits plumbers use to freeze pipes. got it cold then put seat post in vice and twisted the frame

eccentric BBs always seem to be creaky in the experience of my mates.

Not mine. Totally silent, or at least inaudible above the creaking of my joints and the gasping of my lungs!

@nedrapier are the Tektro levers a “mountain bike” pull or are you running road levers and MTB calipers?

    Thanks

Setting them is easy what the gell does everyone else do?!

I think it’s easy once you know how. It’s a ten minute job now to install a caliper but it took me a while to work out how!

Really impressed with their merino base layer, also like their bibs, similar value for money as decathlon. For the bibs have a look at the sizing, I think they come out a little small but apart from that I’d buy again.
