Roger, is there a map of the area split into land ownership? Just interested to see who owns what. Also, is there a map of your proposed route overlayed by the NE proposal?

Map is linked to the serial number of the Garmin. Hence why you shouldn’t buy a second hand map off ebay!

Have tried A/B/C/D/A/B/C/D, then A/B/C/D/A/A/B/B/C/C/D/D/A/B/C/D, then A/B/C/D/A/B/A/B/C/D/C/D/A/B/C/D and found that A/B/C/D/A/B/C/D gives the best lap times. It’s only 24 hours, why sleep?

Went to his chippy in Padstow on Sunday just gone. Rubbish! Waited 20 minutes for 4 Cod and chips and they were soo greasy and horrid. He can shove his £7 a portion up his bum!

I thought postal entries were not being done this year. Only printable entries for those wanting to go to Pat’s tonight to make sure they are in.

Totally agree, but I guess that is an easier way of Wiggle getting their cut upfront. And may take some of the manual activities away from the team.

They have recently built a small BMX/Skateboard park in Abbeymead in Gloucester and it is always packed with youngsters and now gives them somewhere to go to socialise and play. It drives me mad that people say “give the kids something to do to stop them hanging around shops and street corners” and when people try to give them other stuff to do they kick off. There is also a new park in Churchdown that has done exactly the same thing and has improved the area. The proposed part of Cheltenham this is being considered for needs something like this.

For my first solo attempt this year I found it OK. But there are some people who think they have a right to barge and take risks when overtaking. In some places I found riding on the verge was the best option especially when approaching the quary!

Make sure it doesn’t get wet as that will really cause problems.

It was a mud fest last Sunday afternoon! Can’t see it being much different today

I have a chest mount, helmet mount and bar mount to cater for different biking activities.

I have just downloaded the firmware update and the image does not look right

I have noticed an increase in tracks over the last few weeks. Looks like people are getting frustrated and started to head back.

As far as I was aware the cotswold way upto the top of the wall and the wall run were all out of the scope of the land issues.

Esure and Sheilas Wheels are the best for it! Upto 4 bikes on their standard policies but you do pay a premium for them. I have 4 insured home and away so they are always covered. I have buildings and contents with Sheilas wheels with 70k contents and its £400 for the lot.

Stay away from Cranham is the first obvious shout and Painswick beacon is a public golf course so you just need to stay on the bridleways or golfers will get funny with you. Usless you know all of the little trails in the trees around the course.
Standish woods is very good shout for a few hours of messing around.
If you are not familiar or know your way around have a read of this

Ridden it 4 times now and have to say i am bored of it. Braking bumps on the start of the final decent ruin it for me. I have found lots of GPS routes for the FOD so I think I will leave Verderers until the hard packed summer

Cranham at night is brilliant as there are soo many owls, deer and occasionally wild bore. The added bonus is the recent spottings of a large black cat. But we can’t ride there now so my night riding is spent looking at a brick wall on the trainer. But make sure you listen to decent music. Agree with the turn the lights off at a rest point and soak up the noises.

Castelli Squadra looks like a good option for £40. Saw a Dare 2b Flashlite at go outdoors for £25 but the Castelli Squadra for £35 looks like a great option.

Top plan that, may head down one night myself. You should be more worried about the badgers!

63 BPM is fine and if you have just got back in the saddle then 173 is fine. Infact, I play hockey to high level and ride a bit and when I am out on the bike I hit 170+ all the time and have not died. Resting heart rate for me is 60 so you are fine!

    Because cycling is safe (NO)
Helmets are sweaty and uncomfortable (Only if you don’t know how to fit them)
Don’t offer any significant protection against major trauma. (my local A&E would beg to differ after the 2 times I have been there with roadies)

    Roger,

May be worth re-sending the email about access to CC-CC as I am a member and have not received an email from them about this subject and don’t really visit their website.

This will then hit more of the user base and should prevent us needing to tell members when they are seen on the trails during recce days.

I am not sure what Bigfoot have done but this may also be the same

Top work Roger and thanks for the email update.

Does this mean that the new DH track at the bottom of Racetrack and the jumps on the Shrine are being “removed”?

I look forward to seeing the drawn out map. Ideally with names of the trails on to show them how much we love the place to have named them all.

I assume the Teachers and OneWhoWaits will be included in the 2 or 3 trails?

Agree that when it is frozen up there it is more fun and less distructive than in the summer so I do ride/slide it 😆

Jim has never gone away, he just moves around the Cranham, Painswick and Birdlip woods as I see him quite often (but not since August).

I have spoken to him a few times when I have been out with some other riders and he seems really nice. Sometimes he has his dog and wife in tow and not always wearing glasses. He is retired so will normally be found up the woods mid week late morning early afternoon setting us some nice obstacles. And he drives a white car (can’t remember what) so if you see a car parked up be aware of traps on the trail.

I think the new DH additions may have increased the exposure of the “secret trails” up there and is not a good addition.
Plus the little punks that ride it on the weekeds have no respect for XC riders and leave litter everywhere. Including a 12″ lady pleasuring device hanging off a tree branch!!!

Has anyone copntact Graham Foot at Slam69 bike shop as he was the person who built the majority of the trails up in cranham.

May give you a very good sounding board. Plus he still rides up there on Sundays when he gets chance away from the shop.

Also, Shrine, Teachers, RaceTrack and The Wall are all really really wet and are cutting up something cronic at the moment. Was up there the other day for a walk with the dog and it’s turning into a winter bog.

For the sake of keeping the trail is good ish condition please consider riding elsewhere over the wet winter months.

Why not visit Gloucester and after 10 minutes walking rounds the cross (in the middle) you will see the type of customers you need to aim a pub at. (under 20, push chairs, kids, chavs, unemployed, homeless etc.)

I have lived in Gloucester all my life and hate the city centre. I will always go out in Bath or Cheltenham for a night out as Gloucester is a dive!

Cirencester is a better option but you will find lots of their residents go to Bath and there is not much of a riding scene.

Cheltenham is the place for you but be prepared for high rent charges.

correctiveroger, I have just this month joined CC-CC and I ride in the woods most nights in the summer and once a week in the winter (unless it is a total bog as it kills the trail).

There is 4 of us that ride up their frequently and I can get details of them to you if you like?

I have been riding up there for over 15 years since I was a kid so if you need any help then my addy is my profile.

I know that MTB Swindon are regular visitors and also some Bristol and Malvern based clubs.

Loving your work by the way.

Forestry commission are up there on the racetrack side doing some house keeping.

Just because there is no bridleway signs does not mean there are not any there.

Keep riding and just be aware that there are still instances of roof tacks and obstacles being placed on and across the trail on the Shrine side.

But please don’t ride the trails if they are really wet.

Was happy with my 9 laps for my first solo event. But agree with everyone who has mentioned the blatent disregard for other riders from some idiots.

At one point a young lad had fallen off and a quick rider who hadn’t seen the lad laying in the track tried to overtake 3 of us while we slowed down to avoid hitting the fallen rider on the quary section. The faster rider then had the nerve to shout some very foul language at the fallen lad to which we all gave him a barrel of abuse back and he wasn’t happy about that. Thankfully the lad that fell was OK and continued.

If you are that person and you are reading this you should be ashamed of yourself and you are lucky someone didn’t respond even more aggresively as the two guys infront of me were going to rip you a new one!!!!!

Course was ace, 99% of the people were fantastic, but think the number of entrants should be limited as there must have been 75% more than last year
