Before or after is just gluttony

I’m not proud but sometimes I’m a glutton at times other than Christmas.

    Ultra processed crap.

Haven’t you just described half the contents of the food isles in the supermarket. All breads, biscuits, ready meals, crackers, cakes etc.

I knew the theme of this thread before I even clicked on it. The correct answer is nom, nom, nom. We’ve had apple Stollen bites in the house for a fortnight.

Bicarbonate of soda works wonders. Also next time put your stinky stuff on a 15 minute wash right after training. No need to wait for a full load.

Those Diverges sound like a good buy, would be a good excuse to go to Wales to collect and go on a ride whilst down there.

Once got stopped in the tweed valley by a range rover driver and was lectured on how much damage my bike causes. I would have argued but they looked like they had just been on a shoot.

The real question is “what aero socks should I wear on my ebike?”

    didnthurt

Mid calf! My tan lines would indicate my socks are 5 inches above the centre of my ankle bone. I’ve bought socks before that were too low, just didn’t feel right.

Just another note, I hired an SL Levo before and enjoyed it more than the Levo. But the range is a limiter on the SL.

Hired a Levo yesterday at Glentress, had a good days riding and was sore and tired after (more sore than I thought I’d be).

I took it back with 3% battery left, and that’s even with a charge at lunchtime. Managed 62km with just over 2200 metres of climbing. Rode it mostly in eco but did use boost and trail occasionally. The odd thing I found was enjoying the Singletrack climbs more than the descents.

I reckon I’ll just hire when I fancy a shot of an eebs and keep riding my normal bikes the rest of the time.

For as good a day I had ebiking, I dont think I’d actually own a Levo, the weight really sucked the life out of regular trails.

I’ve got mixed feelings about him, he was very driven, intelligent, a great talker, well presented and could hold his own in debates.

There was accusations which he was found ‘not guilty’ and think there will be more revelations to come.

His nickname of ‘slippery salmond’ was well earned IMO.

Politics north of the border will be less interesting without him.

I think I’ll give a miss then. Thanks for the info. I think it’ll be easier (and cheaper) to build a new back wheel (32h) than find a decent 24h rear 142mm disc to replace my bust V6.

Or should these be in the mtb dungaree thread?

Try searching for ‘spindle’ for 3-piece cranks in Google, lots of hits for me.

I think it would be hard to split direct effects from Covid and the increase in the use of social media and apps like tik-tok, as well as the decrease in children out playing. I’m always trying to get my kids out the house, but they’re so reluctant. I was never in when I was a kid.

Has anyone mentioned about trying to slide your saddle forward or back a bit? I find when riding flat pedals my foot is a bit more forward compared to clipless pedals and move my saddle a little forward to compensate.

Another thing that isn’t all equal, is things like pedal and shoe sole thickness, both can make a difference.

Lastly, as we age, we get less flexible and a lifetime of being seated starts to take affect, which cycling can then exacerbate. So, things like functional strength training, general stretching and use of a foam roller (massage) can really help loosen up and activate your glutes, hip flexors, quads, hamstrings and lower back. Try to to the above 2-3 times a week. Worked for me and I had awful pelvic tilt and lower back pain.

Dalbeatie could be a bit tough going for riders with limited experience, although my 11 year old managed most the red route with only a few sections walked. I enjoyed it a lot more than I ever did in the past.

I use an old pair of handlebars as a breaker bar, slide it over the allen key.

I’ve found the factory fitted cranks feels well higher than the recommended 55Nm. Nice idea with the pedal, will try to remember that for the next time.

I’ve always found quality plain gauge spokes are more reliable than buttes spokes. I’d get a touring wheel, with a minimum of 32 spokes but would go for more if you can.

A quick google search found these:

I’d get a stick on downtube protector or some helicopter tape to the underside of the down tube, or there are plenty of kits online from basic ones (cheaper) to full custom ones (expensive).

Water can get into the carbon fibre which is not a good thing. I tend to fill chips in with clear nail varnish, you could do several coats and give it a sand and coat of paint.

People sitting in their cars with the engine running waiting for their kids to finish training, right next to people playing sport. WTAF!

Or the people who park in the bus stop to go to Tesco to avoid a slightly longer walk from the free carpark.

Or the people who circle the carpark at the gym to get a space slightly closer to the entrance, then go and run on a machine.

The person who carried out an emergency stop for a duck on a straight section of the A9 in the wet. Well that got the heart racing, I half expected someone to go into the back of me.

Caps on plastic bottles that no longer come completely off, rather fold to one side.

I appreciate it’s to encourage the caps to be recycled, but why would folk only recycle the bottle and not the cap? Savages

This more because any liquid in the lid gets tipped down your face and front.

I read that they were already on with the next race before they even looked for her. There was a time overlap with the races though. Sad case.

I like the Magura ones. They’re pretty thick, have a nice pattern, work well, last well, aren’t noisy and last well.
There’s not much difference between them IME, as long as you buy ones rated for sintered pads.

Saw an interview with Pogaca, where he is talking about training mostly in zone 2, sounds reasonable right? Then he’s asked what is his zone 2 power, he says it between 320-340 Watts!!!

Genuine question on tyres for ebike, why’d you bother with something like this tyre? Wouldn’t you just get bigger and gripppier tyres if you’ve got a motor assisting you?

Also lease it based on more mileage than what you think you will use, then you can adjust this on the last year of the lease and get the difference back, better than getting a big bill for excess mileage if you go over the agreed mileage.

The black climb is perfection in difficulty IMO, I had a couple of dabs on my first time up, purely from losing momentum trying to work out the optimum line, second time was just as enjoyable and and I managed to clean it all.

The black descent was engaging and took plenty of concertation, and I doubt I’d have enjoyed it as much if I hadn’t been riding tougher enduro trails like at Glentress, at the Golfie and Dunkeld etc.

    I like your comment:

27-year-old me would be so proud of 45-year-old me!

It struck a cord with me. I’m amazed by the difficulty of trails I’m able to ride when compared to how rubbish I was when I started, I’m even more amazed how much better other people are compared to me. As with everything, there’s levels within levels with mtbing.

    God, I love mountain biking.
