It all sounds a bit conspiracyish, but the yanks have always secretly hated the EU.
It’s not a conspiracy, it’s a fact, do you think that newspapers do not push an agenda?
dbcooperFree MemberLet’s be clear on this, the EU has done a good job of breaking things from within and is now at the stage where forces are beginning to pull in very opposite directions.
That may well be true, but it just means we need reform, not a xenophobic withdrawal.

I’d love to say theres a rational, reasoned, theory about deeply held beliefs, etc. But there isn’t. Basically its because they’re all terminally small-minded, stupid, ignorant, insular, racist, little Englanders, who view everything through some weird prism of a colonial utopia that never actually existed anywaybencooper – Member
Because Europe does annoying things like introduce human rights and worker protection legislation, which means they can’t treat the plebs however they like. The 2nd and 3rd posts deftly and succintly summarise all you need to know about this. With the addition of one minor fact: the whole thing is frothed up by the Murdoch papers – ie a US agenda to prevent Europe from coalescing into something that could compete on economic and military terms with them.
dbcooperFree Memberqwerty, thanks, that looks great.
I appreciate all your input thank you.
To be honest I think we should bring this thread to a close. I’m not cut out for STW.
dbcooperFree MemberI don’t doubt that you can make a decent FS out of steel but very few people bother so there is a very limited choice. It one of the 3/4 doesn’t quite fit right or isn’t perfect it doesn’t leave you with a lot of choice.
I think this is the issue. Looking at Aluminium Frames..
Like the Hustler, thanks.
dbcooperFree MemberI quite like that. The S/M is not as small as the rocket (I think).
Anyway for all you steel doubters read this from Cy at Cotic.
Selected quoteI also have to come clean at this point and also admit that I love how it looks too. There, I said it.
dbcooperFree MemberHmm Dragon I’m not sure either of us are qualified to comment on bike design and materials.
I’m not trying to tell the marketplace what to do or how to design a bike. I am just wondering if anyone has designed a bike that fits my wants, just what exactly is your issue with that?
Given that we place our trust in designers, its up to us as consumers to select the bike that fits our wants, I have faith that the material selected for a particular bike will do its job.
So my preference is for a bike where the designer has used steel, it looks nicer. All other things being equal, it is as good a reason as any to choose a bike.Anyway to counter the idea that steel is not a good material for a small FS frame I would point out that
1) Even with my limited engineering knowledge I do not think that just because a frame is small that steel is the wrong material, so we can discount that assumption.
2) There are three steel fs frames out there that I know of. One of which (rocket) I would buy in a heartbeat if it were
a) available, and
b) slightly smaller.
3) Are you a better bike designer than Cy at Cotic, because he seems to think steel is a great material for a FS frame.
Oldanpastit I can see your point, but the Cotic Rocket has 31.6 seat tube, with pivot mounts welded to it. So does the Pinner.
Again, I’m not an engineer or bike designer, I’m a hopeful consumer with a want.dbcooperFree MemberOk I like the look of the banshee spitfire, its hard to tell thoughh does that take a 140 or 150 fork?
The issue with the spitfire is the 30.9 seatpost, I already have a reverb at 31.4..
I do like the 650b future proofing. What else?
dbcooperFree Membereven if you did sign an NDA today, anythiogn disclosed prior to the date of the NDA is not covered. He has no idea what he wants you to sign..
dbcooperFree Member1) Can you even buy a rocket? Its dead in the water isn’t it? My friend has an XS cotic BFe, that fits me perfectly. The rocket only goes to small. I would be happy to demo one in small and see if it works.
2) Bolt short and long are still quite high standover for my dainty pins. But I don’t like the 27.2 seatpost as I want to use a reverb or lev. The 27.2 lev appears to be less reliable than the bigger ones, cannot get a reverb in 27.2.
Mr dbcooper has a small covert which is nice, but still feels a little big. Anyway I wanted more like 140mm travel.
Ok so I am happy to take your advice- what small 140-150mm travel fs frame would you recommend, that I can buy today?
PS Brassneck – not hardtail – ouch..
dbcooperFree MemberI like the slimmer frame tubes. Aluminium frames are too chunky.
dbcooperFree MemberThe pinner is ugly and expensive.. I like the looks of the bolt and the rocket.
dbcooperFree MemberGiven that he wants lots of zoom for wildlife and he doesn’t want a DSLR, I suspect it won’t do anything he wants
well his objection to a DSLR was price, shutter lag and lack of zoom
spend hundreds on a full blown DSLR rig
shutter lag …. lack of zoom…
it seems my suggestions addressed all those issues. With a lumix at 200 quid, a 2nd hand d40 (with a zoom from 18-55) was only 129, or with a lot of zoom on the d80 +18-135 lens at £200 it seems I have addressed his concerns that he listed. Did you bother to read the OP or do you just like being rude to women?
dbcooperFree MemberGet a 2nd hand DSLR eg d50/70/80/40 from LCE with a kit lens. Will probs do more than you could ever want.
This d40 with 18-55kit lens is a bargain at 129.99
Or this D80 with 18-135 at £199 is poss even better.
or a new low end Nikon d3100 at 349
dbcooperFree MemberI think the only thing I would be happy with is unbrazing the seat tube and replacing it with a new one. You can do that and charge them for your time and materials.
dbcooperFree MemberThere is a magazine review here[/url] that identifies the problem from back then. I remember orange “confessing” to accidently using the wrong size bolts on the test bike, draw your own conclusions, but when you google orange p7 pro drop out problem you get a fair few hits…
dbcooperFree MemberThis is the LH drop out orange website and this is the RH drop out. The LH one pictured below has a third bolt which goes into either a mudguard mount hole or maybe you have to drill a hole I can’t remember, it was 2009..
Make sure it comes with the steel plates that squish in the slot where the drop out slots in as that makes a difference. The extra mount hole will make it last a bit longer than 2-3 rides but in my humble experience the prognosis is not good.I spent a good few hrs trying to help a GF fix hers, even my self proclaimed “genius” husband could not fix it. Its an aluminium alloy drop out on a steel frame, he reckoned it was a crap design..
dbcooperFree MemberOrange used to do a modified drop out to solve this exact problem. Its a bit of a crummy design to be honest I’ve seen 3 frames of this era and they all suffer. The previous owner would have known about this I am convinced..
dbcooperFree MemberFor what its worth, I do not think the tyre combo is odd, I often only fit a front mud tyre. You want grip at the front and drift/slideablity at the back, especially in mucky conditions, or sandy dry dusty condtions..
dbcooperFree MemberFound the thread now. http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/anyone-bought-a-camera-from-the-cheapo-hong-kong-electronics-stores
But still no experience of the store I found, anyone used eglobal?
dbcooperFree MemberThis is an excellent book on Alopecia by a friend of mine, he is a sufferer and a Prof of Pshychology at Nottingham Uni. Very approachable, intelligent and knowledgable on all thing Alopecia.
dbcooperFree MemberThis
Will be actually very close to Haldon Forest but it looks a bit tame.
kinda contradicts this
I’m no DHer!
does it not?
dbcooperFree MemberWe went through monitors like cakes.
Mr dbcooper found that cheap wireless IP cams were much better, we used an universal IP cam app and were able to watch the kids on the mobile, ipad, tablet, smart TV, laptop. Plus they have pan/tilt, movement sensors, bi-directional audio, night vision and cost about £30 and generally better than anything with an inflated price because it says “baby” on it.
We ended up with 3 around the hosue and could use a web app from the pub/malaga to watch the kids whilst they argued about who turn it was to make the tea.ip app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rcreations.WebCamViewerPaid&hl=en_GB
ip cam search on amazon cheapest is £27.99 http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_8?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ip%20camera&sprefix=ip+camer%2Caps%2C199&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aip%20camera
dbcooperFree MemberAll good advice. It does sound iffy, we fell foul of this before. so go back to your original offer, and start looking elswhere.
dbcooperFree MemberThe right to be treated equally or the right to discriminate against people
it is not a dilemma for me tbh
This ^
dbcooperFree MemberMr dbcooper fitted these wellgo magnesiums MG-1 to my bike, they are very light. h has them on all his MTB’s and we have yet to see an issue.
£40 at Chain Reaction Cycles
Or £30 at highonbikes.I find them ultra grippy.
dbcooperFree MemberI put mine inside a few bags and sweatshirts, in a laundry net and run a 30c cycle in the washing machine. Make sure it is secure in the net/packaging as I have ruined a lid when it rubbed against the door during spin..
dbcooperFree Memberameidas, I like your attitude, it has been prioven time and time again that “punishment” does not work to reform offenders. So either your civil discusion and or a driver awareness course seem like good ideas, giving people the opportunity to rehabilitate without criminalising them is the route to a good society.
dbcooperFree Memberyeah its total bunkum. You are being paranoid, why would next door having work done put off a buyer? Again where is your evidence?
dbcooperFree MemberFYI My youngest girl nearly died of sepsis, there was a way the Dr’s could have seen it coming. My husband wrote to the PCT and pointed out how they could have seen it coming. As far as I know they have plans to incorporate his suggestions.
dbcooperFree MemberWell initially I call troll, but I can’t seem to help myself from responding.
I agree with thisisnotaspoon.
I think the idea that the NHS needs to be mistake proof is costing the NHS and all of us dearly. It is a very, very hard job, there are umpteen unpredictable factors, and the hand wavers in this country appear to be killing the NHS.
Before long we will have a system that delivers similar (OR NOT AS GOOD) levels of service as the NHS, but we will each have to pay individually for our services. So my message to you OP is, shut up, or get involved with developing systems that could help improve things, insead of handing out outrage and blame.
In fact the familiy concerned have said in your own link “We didn’t want it to be about blame, we wanted it to result in good learning.”
If we start punishing Dr’s and Nurses for mistakes or institutional errors, people will leave the NHS and we will be left with a worse srvice.
Given that the NHS has been rated as the best in the world I feel very lucky to be a recipient of its services, and think we should be working to improve it rather than moan about it.
dbcooperFree MemberWe did ours with John Lewis, cost a fortune but seems pretty comprehensive.
