I’m not sure she’s having an affair and part of me thinks does it really matter

Someone I know thought his wife was upto something, I asked him why? He said she seems happy for a change.

Anyway, she liked a drink. After a bottle of gin he used her thumb to unlock her phone and looked at the messages. Turned out she was having an affair with a bloke at work.

He then logged her onto his apple iPad so every time she got a message or sent a message he could see it. He could also see where she was.

It was really bad for his mental health reading their dirty messages but it was really good for the divorce.

I guess it all depends on what’s important. Mental health or money?

He went through a dark period in his life but now he’s over it. The kids are fine. He has his own house and a good social life. He’s even on good terms with the ex wife.

Tough times make tough people. Good luck

Yet again we are back to can a frame bend enough to be noticeable when you’re riding 2.4 inch tyres

I do struggle to tell the difference between forks so I’m probably not a good person to ask.

However, I can tell the difference between a 2.3inch tyre and a 2.6 inch tyre. So what ever hardtail you buy make sure it’s got the tyre clearance on the rear.

The only criticisms I have for it are that It’s a bit porky, and a bit blunt, i.e. after a few hours you know you’re sitting on a fairly cheaply made frame with unprofiled tubes ’cause it’s given you a bit of a battering

Mines one of the first frames made. I pre ordered mine and waited patiently for it. Perhaps they’ve changed the design or manufacturer if its now battering you. I think my XL was 2.2 kg with headset and maxles from memory. That compares well to the others.

Mines got a rigid carbon fork and I use it over winter and for bike packing. It’s got 2.6 inch 29er tyres and Id say exactly the opposite to this quote.

When I’m bike packing I ride it for upto 12 hours a day. It’s one of the most capable and comfiest hard tails I’ve ever ridden. Able to take on difficult technical terrain but also able to churn out the miles.

For £200 it’s a bargain. If you don’t like it you will be able to sell it and get most of your money back when px put the price back up to £600 rrp.

eBay knock off Goatlink, much cheaper option.

I tried a ztto link with my xt mech but it was rough and I just couldn’t get it to work. Changed it to a deore mech and it was perfect.

Sorry, but that is the way of a PSA

Bugger, I tried a few codes but not that one.

I think it’s the deore 5120 10/11 speed mech you need.

    Max Low Sprocket: 46T (1×10-speed); 42T (2×11/2×10-speed)

Any other might only be happy upto 42t on a 1x.

I replaced my xt rear mech with the 5120 and it’s perfect.

I use bar ends in line as I can have the angle of the bars and the bar ends independent of each other. With the bars you linked it’s limited.

But I have Ali bars. Some carbon bars do say suitable for bar ends but that’s expecting them to be on the ends and not inboard. Chances are inboard won’t be reinforced.

I wonder if we will still be using carbon in 10 or 20 years?

When carbon goes it goes quickly like in this case. Metals tend to let you know and bend first.

With all the recalls it’s clear it’s not as good as we thought. Plus you can’t easily recycle it. It’s not actually that much lighter now we have better manufacturing techniques.

If products were taxed to pay for their recycling at the end of life then none of us could afford carbon. It’s probably another ticking time bomb our children will have to sort out.

I finished the badger divide into Glasgow and was pleasantly surprised how picturesque the route was through the parks following the river with some amazing architecture.

Luckily it was raining so not many people around.

Perhaps avoid late at night – my daughter was robbed at knifepoint at midnight at the Clyde Walkway but daytime absolutely safe.

Yes, I don’t think I’d want to cycle it late at night though.

That’s really bad luck especially as he says he was going about 15 mph. Did it snap at the crown or the stem? I don’t think it says.

When people post links to forks I always say Id rather have a cheap Chinese carbon fork from planet x or other company than an unknown from Ebay becuase they have proper insurance. Yes, they might fight it but at least you’ve something to try and claim against.

As others have said, it’s probably the same as all the other companies.

My new trek 1120 fork is a ali steerer bonded in. Not sure it’s any better or worse but made me wonder why they have changed the design.

@Hambini mentioned something on one of his videos recently about an insurance claim he was asked to write a report on. Wonder if it’s this one or if there’s loads of them (on failures, not against px)

Ortlieb roll top bag, I have a small and a large which both fit on the same bracket. Had them for years.

Exactly the same. Great bags and a great way to attach quickly to multiple bikes.

The chain suck area I’m happy with, it is the area further forward that has made me think twice.

The chain rub looks fine to me. It’s the 2nd picture with the triangle removed that looks like a deal breaker for me.

Was the 456c actually light, or just lighter than the steel 456? My steel 456 weighs heaps more than my aluminium Ragley.

My friend converted his small carbon 456 into a rigid gravel bike for bikepacking. 650b in a 29er carbon fork and 26er on the rear. Works pretty well for something he already had. Very light too but it is small with small wheels and tyres compared to my XL 29er with 2.6 tyres.
However, it’s as stiff as a very stiff thing from stiffsville and he gets battered on the downhills.
His is a later model as he snapped his original one so they weren’t completely bullet proof.

I’d echo matts points. Does it have to be carbon? Plenty of great metal 29er hardtails around for really good prices. The money you save on not going carbon could pay for carbon wheels and better drive train and be around the same weight.

    @superstarcomponents

Does this chainring have threaded m7 inserts so you don’t need the xtr tabs?

    https://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/raptor-chainring-96bcd-asymetric–narrow-wide.htm

At the bottom it’s got a list and it says

    96 BCD x4 Asymetric pattern M7 thread – New Shimano XTR M9000 M9020

But not sure if that’s for this product, it’s a bit confusing.

    Thanks

This is what I’m currently using. M7 bolts and integrated threads. £60.

If anyone has any links to cheaper chain rings with integrated m7 threads please let me know.

    Thanks

This thread set up by @northwind might help.

    XTR M9020 chainring compatibility anyone?

According to this thread SLX and XT are interchangeable but not XTR

    Yes, they don’t unfortunately.

Are you using the 4 xtr tabs? Or screwing into the chainring?

My bikes all have xtr m9020 cranks. They are really good but due to lack of chainring options I’m thinking of swopping out to xt cranks. I think the last one I bought during covid was an absolute black and it was £60!

Currently running a kore branded one that was about £13.

    @uselesshippy
do you have a link? I’ve a few failed purchases that didn’t fit.

I guess I’m not the only one

With the amount of bike specific tools I have and bike parts and tyres my garage looks like a bike shop, albeit during covid, pretty bare but still a bike shop.

If a few more bike shops go under, sales might become a thing of the past and I will be thank full for my stockpiles.

For the really bad winter muddy days when I want to stay as dry as possible I use my ex army waterproof over trousers with the legs cut off.

And If you can sew the cut off legs make nice little bags with a draw string top 😉👌

did you aske where the cross climates went?

Does the original ad state it has cross climates or can you see them in the photo?

If you can they’ve sold you a different product to what was advertised.

Anyone that changes tires and puts crap ones on instead is dodgy and I’d avoid as they’ve probably bodged other things. Plenty of other vans out there.

Just stay strong, tell them you want a refund. Know your rights and quote them. Also speak to your bank. See if they can give you advice.

Although I think you said you did a bacs transfer

    Good luck

If anyone has an on one scandal and wants a headset this is what hope said

For the upper you need number 2, for the lower you need E from our pick and mix range.

Both these cups are zero stack, we don’t offer any external cups in those sizes

I remember one ride over ogden moors. I got to the top, about the half way point and he started crying. I thought the amount of clothes he had on he would be fine but it was the constant wind battering his face at the top and him not riding. He cried all the way home. I felt like a terrible dad. Once he warmed up he said he had fun. We didn’t go out again when it was cold or windy or we picked lower rides out of the wind with a cafe stop half way round for a hot chocolate.

I like the topeak morph or mini morph. Has an extender so it doesnt strain the valve and a foot bar to hold it in place. Mini is 150g, normal one is 200g

But they just seem to choose more and more oddballs, projects with more bling than great design, finances from another planet etc. And so few are finishing at all…

I think grand designs has been around since 1999. Since then they’ve shown all sorts of houses and builds and educated the audience. I think that’s fed our appitite so we want more and more elaborate builds and characters and secretly we enjoy it when it goes wrong as we will never have £100000 to spend on a kitchen island.

What I don’t understand, is when they build these massive houses is why they don’t do it in sections. Build half of it first and finish it and move in and then build the 2nd phase with less pressure and stress.

Might not be feesible or economical but they just always seem to bite off more than they can chew.

I’ve just got 2 bottle cages on each leg. Water in one, tool kit in the other. On the other side a dirty water bottle and sawyer water purifier. Not having to search through bags for my sawyer makes it a lot easier and quicker to get clean water from streams etc.

Im currently selling a macride in ebay. I’m genuinely gutted that mini D has out grown it.

My mates kid is 2 years older than mine. He told me to buy one but I thought it was too expensive so he lent me his. Straight away it was a game changer and mini D took to it straight away. I bought one as soon as I gave it back.

We’ve done some amazing rides, some really technical stuff that I didn’t think we’re possible.  Once his feet are strapped in and he’s holding the bars he’s pretty stable. Ive put grips in board for him.

Now he’s 120cm tall and started to put more weight on he no longer fits on the bike. I can’t pedal around him now, it’s too now legged and it’s also getting harder to pedal with the weight up hills!

But he’s now got a love for riding off road and he wants to ride his bike now. We’ve now got a tow rope.

This would need something exceptional ike the time Chris boardman wore a time trial suit in the tour de france and won or when lemond used time trial bars. At first they laughed, then they saw the result, the following year they all copied.

It just needs a brave pioneer to use one and win and prove its marginal gains and then we will all be using it. Unless the uci bans it.

I’m still not sure what it’s supposed to do. Is it just to make sure you stay in the correct position? Tony Martin did glue sand paper to his saddle once to make sure he stayed put. Maybe they are into something.

I wanted to make my own shed but when I priced it up it was cheaper and quicker just to order a tiger shed.

It was my neighbours 20 year old tiger shed that convinced me to go with tiger. As above, no windows.

“Looking at the Sustrans route from Whitehaven to Sunderland”

I’ve not done that route before but reading the description probably schwalbe gravel tyres pumped up hard.

    137.5 miles, 221.3 kilometres

    11 hours 50 minutes

    44.6% Traffic-free | 83.8% Asphalt, 14.3% Unsealed firm, 1.8% Unsealed loose

Depends on the weather and which route your doing. Personally I don’t think the front tyre makes that much difference as most of the weight of the bike, kit and you is on the rear wheel.

I usuly run a nobby nic front and either a nobby nic rear if bad weather and if good a maxis ss or a rock razor.

I’ve just bought a continental Ruben 29×2.6 tyre for the rear. Haven’t used it yet but it was in the crc sale.

As @didnthurt says, just adjust tyre pressures for relevant parts. If your doing the pedal north version after the dales pump it up until you get to Osmotherley.

I’d be worried it was just an open mould Chinese fork? Anybody know?

Most carbon stuff is made in China. Most of it is good. Alpkit will ensure that the product is good. They will also warranty it and do a product recall should they have any doubts about it’s safety and should anything happen they have insurance. Can you say the same about other “open mould Chinese forks”?

There’s also the px carbon fork for £200 but wait for a sale.

Selcof Carbon 27.5+ or 29er Fork

They do have the same fork with eyelets but they don’t advertise it and you have to email them to ask for a price and availability.

Sometimes a genesis tarn fork comes up for sale on ebay, they are either aluminium or carbon.

I’m really impressed with my new trek 1120 fork. Carbon fork, Ali steerer so normal star nut, not a fork bung. Loads of rack mounts.

It replaced a genesis tarn fork. Feels exactly the same but it’s got a 29er 2.6 tyre, good bars and ergon grips so not sure i can feel much difference between good quality carbon forks.

Weighs 830 grams, only 20g more than the tarn fork. The rack however that fits it is 450g.

My friends airwolf fork on the other hand beats the sh.t out of him. He’s slow down hill and then needs to recover. He doesn’t like it at all. Regrets not spending more money. His is on a 650b wheel though.
